How do I specify by OU?

Hello all, I wondered if anybody else was in a similar situation to ourselves as we have just upgraded from Live@EDU to Office365 and I am after some advice. For Live@EDU we provisioned user accounts manually via CSV - this was ok as we were staging our rollout and only had two year groups with accounts. Now we have upgraded to Office365 we are looking to move over all staff / students (~1600) - due to the volume, it would be much easier to manage if we were able to sync via AD. Current setup - MSOL accounts ([email protected]) Internal domain - (school.local) Internal account names UPN example - [email protected] I've read the guide and I understand that we add our Office365 domain as an additional UPN - but how do we map AD accounts to current MSOL accounts - if they have different names? Also for new provisioned accounts - internal usernames are staff codes, such as: SH whereas their e-mail address would need to be [email protected]. What is the best way to go about organising this 'migration' - I don't want it to affect current accounts - but I want it to create new accounts for staff / students that don't currently have a 365 account. Not sure if I have explained this well - I am just starting this process and I want to ensure I have a clear picture in my head before continuing. Many thanks.

Perhaps this is an IE 'bug' then. I've tried it in chrome and firefox, both always default to All Files. Strange thing is, when logged in as an administrator account, in IE, All files is defaulted. Thanks for your help anyway

Thanks for the quick reply. I already have that set, this is my config: It allows students to upload publisher files, but in the dialog you have to change the file type drop down to All Files (*.*). Any way around this?

I have altered the setup page so students can now upload publisher files, but when logged in as a student, within the select file to upload dialog they have to select All Files to see publisher files by default (causing a bit of confusion). How can I add *.pub to the default custom files list? Many thanks for a great product!

Thanks for the reply. We don't use redirected start menus, however, I have managed to dig a bit deeper and found the cause of the issue. The mandatory profile that we have stores the shortcuts in AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\StartMenu. Now if I have a look at one of the users redirected application data this location doesn't exist (hence the shortcuts not working). I manually created the the folders that were missing (User Pinned\StartMenu) and copied the shortcuts in there and it works. I am pretty sure there is something really simple I am doing wrong but can't seem to figure it out. A last resort I suppose would be to script it? Many thanks.

I am having a problem with our mandatory student profile on Windows 7 whereby when a student logs on to the machine the pinned taskbar shortcuts are unavailable (see attachments). These shortcuts are the Windows default (IE9, Library, Media Player) and point to the usual places but still the user cannot access them. I was leaning towards a permission issue but wasn't sure where to start. Anybody seen this problem before and can point me in the right direction? Many thanks,

Thank you. Disabling front panel jack detection in the Realtek software did the trick.

Having a few problems when testing Windows 7 on our Stone PCs. They have Realtek HD Audio on board sound but Windows 7 always reports that 'No speakers or headphones are plugged in'. Well, this is exactly right, there are no speakers or headphones plugged in, when I plug in some headphones everything works correctly, the message disappears and sounds outputs fine. So having a browse of the net there are numerous reports that people are having the message appear, but regardless of whether they have speakers or headphones plugged in sound will not output. So I cannot see this being a driver issue? It appears to me that this is functionality and it wouldn't be a problem, however it does stop certain applications from running, such as movie maker. Any ideas how to disable this 'feature', or any suggestions as I am stuck? Thanks!

Hi guys, Having issues with Windows 7 and sync centre, read a few threads and cannot find a definitive solution. This is what I would like to achieve: Staff laptops are taken home etc; they have redirected desktops / app data / documents etc. I would like to set it up so these locations are made available offline and synchronise as such. The issue I have run in to is that it when applying the appropriate settings via GPO (automatically making redirect folders offline) it attempts to sync the root share rather than the individual’s files / settings. For example: Desktop is redirect to: \\server\desktops\staffdesktop In sync centre, this will try and sync \\server\desktops, which obviously means it attempts to cache every single user desktop. So my questions are: Is there an easy way to resolve this, what am I doing wrong? Can I set it up so I can explicitly state exactly what I want it to cache because we’ve also had problems with it automatically caching shares the user accesses? Many thanks in advance. Tom
