Hi ronnoco, We deployed Windows 7 to our machines in the summer of 2010 and used a .vbs script that was created for us which joined the machine to the domain automatically - all we need to do is enter the Asset Number of the machine and the script does the rest. We initially build a machine with Windows 7 and all the software etc... then copied a folder which contained the script and a little .cmd file, which initialised the script, to c:\windows\setup\scripts\ Then ran sysprep using the Out-of-box experience (OBE) option & captured the image using GHOST. When the machine was built, we ran through the OBE screens until it reboots. Get to the desktop & this little script pops up, we enter the asset number of the machine, click OK and viola, the machine is added to the domain If you would like a copy of the script and .cmd file, let me know I can just take out the specific info we have and send it to you. Hi, I wonder if anyone help. We have Adobe Master Collection CS4 for Mac which needs to be installed on 30 Macs & I wondered if there was a way to create an installation image which we can copy onto the server and install on each machine from there. I don't want to automate the deployment, all i am looking for is 1 installation image, rather than having to use the 4 DVD's separately (which takes over an hour to complete!!) I'm not great with Mac's so apologies if i sound like a complete noob lol TIA J

We get this at my workplace (School). As John rightly says, if you browse to the folder manually (typing in the full UNC path inc. username), the folder will display. My question(s) is, is it just something that Windows 7 does that Microsoft are likely to fix this in an update (i.e. the 1st Service Pack they are releasing soon)? We are using a Windows Server 2003 box for all Student profiles so could it be this needs a patch applying? Failing all the above, if we moved to Server 2008, would this stop happening? (It's not causing us a problem as such, just interested to know what can be done about it really...?)

When i was at Secondary School, i joined a club at the end of the day where we built the machines that were to be used in the ICT Suite. We were given the basic motherboard to which we would eventually install the CPU, Heatsink, Fan, Memory, CMOS etc... The teacher would show us what we had to do for the certain part we were fitting that day & we would then go away and do it, for example, the CPU, we would be shown the correct way a CPU should fit into the socked on the motherboard & how to secure it, then how to apply the heatsink & install the cooling plate on top. We would then go away and do this to the machines. When all the motherboard stuff was complete, we moved onto the power connections and Hard Drives, CD Drives etc... Once everything was complete, we installed them into the ICT Suite. We didn't touch any of the OS or software stuff, that was done for us but the teacher. Just that little bit we did was useful for when i got to college & moved into other things like reseating Memory, installing a Parallel Printer etc...

I think you're right Cromertech, the 32-Bit version will only allow you to utilise up to 3GB RAM - 64-Bit will allow the use of more than that. We have mostly 64-Bit machines at my workplace, however we have had to downgrade some machines to 32-Bit as they use applications which have a 16-Bit application installed :S Having the additional memoray usage in the 64-Bit machines is definitely a bonus though if you decide to install it

We have Office 2010 here & generally SIMS works fine with it. The only problem that appears to have manifested itself (and as a result, required us to downgrade the problem machine to Office 2007), was when the user was trying to attach / print mail merged letters to the students information. At the moment, 2010 isn't supported by SIMS. I believe that they are in the process of looking at getting support for it.

Hi, Did anyone manage to obtain a fix for this? I have a similar problem where the videos that run from within an application will play the sound but no video (all the application files / videos etc... have been copied from the original CD (Including any hidden files)) This is happening on both the machines that I have been testing on (Windows 7 Enterprise x64) They both have VLC and K-Lite Codec (WMP Classic) installed. You can play the video files directly from the server perfectly fine in either application. I can't see any errors in the event logs. Any suggestions would be great Thanks
