  1. I can't connect to http://www.embc.uk.com and get messages like HTTP/1.1 404 Connection: close Date: Wed, 16 Feb 2011 13:36:17 GMT Server: Microsoft-IIS/6.0 MicrosoftSharePointTeamServices: 12.0.0.6025 X-Powered-By: ASP.NET and Cannot connect to the configuration database. when I try. The rest of the interwebs are still there. Is it just Leicester?
  2. ... but when I started n2ncopy again, I had to re-enter all the source and destinations again. It needs some way of saving and recalling jobs to be really useful. I ended up scripting the job.
  3. windirstat
  4. There's a nice gotcha - be aware that if you remote desktop into a machine to check it's installed ok, Audacity can (will?) crash ungracefully. You can then spend a while chasing your tail when it's actually installed fine. I used an msi fwiw.
  5. Save yourself the effort of running commands on lots of different machines - use psexec from the excellent pstools collection (free). \pstools\psexec -u administrator -p xxx %1 gpupdate /force /boot /target:computer Runs gpupdate on machine %1 (stick admin password where xxx is). For a roomfull, list the machine names in machines.txt and run \psexec -u administrator -p xxx @machines.txt gpupdate /force /boot /target:computer
  6. I work at a primary which received a grant to buy 15 Kindles. Naturally I'm going to be asked to copy content to them all and want to make it as painless as possible. n2ncopy is my current favourite. Freeware, multiple files copied quickly to multiple destinations. I'd put this on the wiki but don't have enough posts. Hope it helps somebody. Cheers, Mat
  7. Kaspersky here, replaced symantec. Usable but not always good at catching and cleaning up trojans - malwarebytes usually gets called in to do that.
