Yeah, my 3080 is on pre-order with OCUK, so I have no idea when I'm going to get it. Queue update on Friday, I was in position 964 or around there for the Asus TUF OC. I'm not jelly, honest.

Seems like Overclockers UK are being review bombed on Trust Pilot, Facebook and Google over their handling of the RTX 30xx launch.

Each machine will get a small LAPS client installed that manages the local password. You can then install the full client on your servers and technician workstations to then look up passwords from the database. I have the full LAPS client installed on both our DCs and our two workstations. I can remote to them any use the client without issues.

Our cameras are shockingly old and are not networked. Instead, they're individually cabled back to the controller unit. We relocated the unit last year due to security concerns, but had to pay quite a lot of money to the maintenance company to extend the cables to the new location, which is a locked cupboard. The controller itself is networked, so the site team can connect to it via the provided software from their workstations in their office and can view the feeds without going to the physical unit.

I thought about it and could have bagged one from Currys this morning. I decided against it and I'll wait until next year, as I don't need a next gen console. My 3080 will arrive at some point, so that'll cover me for next-gen games and it means I have no need for the Xbox Series X. I never had a PS4, so I missed out on the exclusive games. So once I've exhausted the PC games I have lined up, I'll grab a PS5 and some games. Plus, the thing is a brick and a half. I might wait for the inevitable slim version.

Firstly, staff are made aware of it via an announcement in briefing and the pastoral/HoY year are specifically told. We also use the notes field in SIMS to emphasise this, though don't rely on staff to read it. As for SIMS, I think we would only list Mum's contact details in section 4, with Mum's details specified as the home address in section 5. Dad's details are then added as an extra entry in section 5, including phone number. The parental salutation is specifically set to mum only.

General consensus seems to be that AMD are roughly on-par with outright performance, but are severely lacking in the ray tracing and AI upscaling departments.

I do think it's a bit fishy, but I think they've played their cards right. They're looking to lure in all the customers that have been unable to secure an Nvidia card. I suspect that they'll be on-par (or 5-10% off) compared to Nvidia for like-for-like cards on raw gaming performance. Introduce ray tracing though, and Nvidia will wipe the floor with them. I guess we'll find out in 15 minutes anyway!

I watched this yesterday and loved it. I love Ryan George's videos, especially the Pitch Meetings he does on Screen Rant!

I did that and have since reverted back to local profiles. Each Edge profile was about 2GB per user and eating up a ton of space on the storage, plus we had the same configuration for Chrome. Totaling about 4GB per user for browser profiles in their home folders, with the only reason the policy being enabled being that the users could access their bookmarks on other computers. We determined that because only a handful of users (mainly admin staff) complain about bookmarks, it wasn't worth the storage space and reverted it.

If one of your teachers is isolating, are they just off and not working? Or are they expected to teach? Our policy is that isolating staff are expected to work as normal (where possible) from home, such as delivering a lesson to students via Teams with a cover supervisor being the adult in the class room. Sure, you can have spare laptops to provide these staff when needed...but that's not really covid secure, as you have to get the laptop to them somehow. What if you have more teachers isolating than spare laptops?

We were effected by this. We use a MAC address deny filter on our DHCP scopes for our open (captive portal) WiFi networks, to prevent the iPads from joining it. They're configured to join a specific WiFi via the MDM, though they'll just not connect sometimes, maybe when traversing through the school, hopping from AP to AP. On disconnected iPads, the students browse the list of available WiFis and select one they can connect to, usually the open WiFi. Once joined, the iPad remembers the connection and join it automatically if it sees it first. When joined to this WiFi, the captive portal kicks in and the user has to log in. The issue is that the user doesn't log out, so it remembers them for 6 days (based on Smoothwall login time)...and when the next user uses the iPad (as they're bookable resources), they're effectively browsing the Internet as the first user. Because the user has selected the open network, the iPad will remember it, so now has two known networks in it's list and it will connect to the first one it sees, which is often the open network. So we implemented the MAC filtering to deny the iPads from getting DHCP addresses from that VLAN, so it'd fall back to the configured WiFi.

We replaced it with an AUP/usage reminder.

If you're specifically after a monitor, I'd wait. There aren't any good ones that do 4K, HDR, HDMI 2.1, good response times, good colour accuracy, freesync and high refresh rates...without spending an absolute fortune.

We haven't got to the stage of pricing yet, I'm just putting feelers out to see if it's something we can do or if it's worth doing, with the infrastructure we have.

I just signed up for a free trial of premium to see. I'm getting a "Sorry, looks like you're not eligible for this offer. Either the premium status hasn't replicated correctly yet, or (most likely) it's not eligible for trial users.

We only have the dual MSA for production storage. Other than the RAID configuration, there is no other redundancy, except for our nightly backups to a separate QNAP NAS. We were of the idea that all spinning disks of the MSA would be replaced with SSDs.

They would be the only storage for live data, so which ever setup is best (I'm not entirely sure) I've got the IOPS results from using Diskspd, but the output log file is a bit more than I understand! Elona Holmes Elona, the younger sister of Sherlock and Mycroft is on a quest to solve the sudden disappearance of her mother. Millie Bobbie Brown stars as Elona, with supporting roles from Henry Cavill (as Sherlock), Sam Clafflin (as Mycroft) and Helena Bonham Carter (as Eudoria Holmes). I enjoyed the film, it was fun and had good performances. Though there was on scene that took me out of the film, which was when Elona went to a train station - and they used the Severn Valley Railway in Kidderminster. I've only been there once and it was 40s day I think, though it has stayed with me and was instantly recognisable.

I have no idea what the IOPS are at the moment. I've just downloaded DiskSpd, though will need to wait for out of hours to run it. I hadn't considered RAID6, but that'd give us the 2 disk failure that we currently have with 2x RAID5 arrays. I'm liking this idea. With that in mind: Enclosure 1 Enclosure 2 My only concern would be future expansion, as that'd mean replacing all the disks again due to no spare bays. However, we'd have 18TB of usable storage...which should be fine, given we're using 6.5TB at present and never gone above 7TB.

We have 2x HP 2040 MSA enclosures, running 12x 600GB 15k SAS disks for OS and 12x 2TB 7.2k MDL drives for storage respectively, both using RAID5. We are considering replacing the storage with SSDs and I'm just researching best practice. HP state that the SATA controller in the unit is the limiting factor, so SSD potential is, well, limited. Current configuration: This was configured by an external company during an upgrade in 2015. I don't know why each pool has two RAID arrays for the same storage type. The only thing I can think of that is that each array can suffer 1 drive failure at the same time, whereas if in one large array, two drives dying at the same time would be a bad time. Assuming that's the only reason they chose that over RAID10, I've come up with the following so far. First draft upgrade: Plus: Multiple arrays to combat multiple drive failures Negative: Expensive 2TB drives. Unsure if the write speed gains can be utilised over an SSDs raw speed vs controller limitations. Alternatively, I could remove the multiple disk groups and have: I have a couple of questions; 1) Given the SATA controller limitation, will there be a difference in the performance between RAID5 and RAID10? 2) Is it worth replacing the MSA with new storage device, like one that is designed for SSD storage? I'm just wondering, if we splash out on SSD drives, are we shooting ourselves in the foot by putting them in the 2040? 3) What type of SSDs do we need to consider? Are generic drives fine, or do we need specific enterprise/NAS level drives? 4) Is there anything else I need to consider, other than migrating the data to a temporary unit while the drives are replaced and the associated configuration requirements?
