  1. Yeah its odd, they link to it from their site but its a dead link. Its still in the Google Play store though! I've asked them but not had a reply yet
  2. I tend to stay away from classcharts as a user but I have been deploying the Teacher app the our staff iPads automatically for some time Recently it hasn't been appearing on newly commissioned iPads and when I checked the app has completely disappeared from the App Store, only the student app remains Anyone know why they've done this? I guess I can just deploy a web shortcut instead but it seems odd this app has just vanished
  3. Yes, we have that in the allow rule - doesn't seem to work though. I'm also testing splashtop as well but thought the free chrome desktop would be worth a go!
  4. I've been trying to run Chrome Remote Desktop to test some limited access to a couple of PCs, mainly to ditch our old VPN for something more modern as we don't really need access all that often However on the client end (on site) the 'This device' page always shows offline I have the following whitelisted in our smooothwall which seems to be their recommendation: remotedesktop.google.com remotedesktop-pa.googleapis.com chromoting-client.talkgadget.google.com chromoting-host.talkgadget.google.com chromoting-oauth.talkgadget.google.com We're not a google school so access to Gmail isn't allowed, so I'm wondering whether we have to allow something else google related as it will not connect?
  5. Don't have a login for that - this was all setup long before me
  6. It has already been logged with our support team - by another member of staff but they are off for a while now so I thought I'd try and get it moving myself. No matter, I shall keep poking around
  7. I've restarted the SSM service several times and also the host server itself - all of the services show up as Started in the SSM (after a few minutes!)
  8. Apparently out users are saying the SMS sending in SIMS InTouch isn't working anymore - I'm not sure how long this has been going on but nothing has been changed on the server (apart from routine patching in months) The Test server connection works fine, but when I try to send a test SMS to any number it shows 'Test SMS sent' and nothing arrives There is an error logged that seems to coincide with the sending - I don't have access to parentpay support so I'm hoping someone here has seen this before? 2026-05-22 08:21:34,572 [57] ERROR SimsService.Log4Net.Log4NetLogger - <School> Https SIMS Encountered an error from request to ActivationService: GetSchoolActivationModel System.ServiceModel.Security.MessageSecurityException: An unsecured or incorrectly secured fault was received from the other party. 9. Ah is this a brand new domain then? I thought it had been around for a while like the ANME site!
  10. We're having a weird issue with staff accessing the Assocation of Data Managers in Education site (adme.ac) - it gets blocked by Chrome/Edge with the 'Your connection is not private' message and the 'Proceed to adme.ac (unsafe)' link does nothing We have in in a bypass filtering rule, with no https inspection or authentication but we still see this Oddly we see an Block Page from the Proective DNS service initially saying it may be associated with malicious activity or malware - refreshing the page brings up the 'connection is not private' error! Its odd, it works outside of work, but no matter I do it objects to this site which I've never seen before
  11. Hmm, good shout, I'll have to wait until it happens again to try that!
  12. We have a bunch of iPads (11th gen) managed by Mosyle with the MS apps installed. Our users sign in to their Outlook app with their school account and that works fine for email etc. However we've noticed the calendars aren't populating and no events are shown They can see the calendars for their account when they go into the settings to pick the default (such as Tiemtable, Calendar etc) but whatever they pick the calendar ends up showing nothing We have a pretty light policy applied to these in Mosyle and the only setting I can possibly think is an issue is the one we enabled to prevent them signing in with their Apple ID which we can't switch off - and surely this wouldn't affect the Outlook app? So it seems Outlook will only pull down the personal Calendar and not any additional calendars associated with that account, even though it shows them in the selection list?
  13. No browser extensions in either! Its very puzzling. We keep our browsers as clean as possible
  14. They don't have access to the proxy settings, all dished out via GPO and wpad.dat
  15. Its odd as its only really impacting one user/device and dns seems to be fine (we use PDNS) I would have thought dns issues would have had a much wider impact so I'm trying new hardware in that location next
  16. One of our users has started to have a recent issue with either of the browsers they use (Edge or Chrome) in which they type the url into the browser and hit enter, but nothing happens. The browser screen stays the same but no window loads, its not specific to any site but this one user has noticed it and I've witnessed it as well. A few presses of F5 will bring it back but its annoying even though its intermittent The wifi is strong and isn't dropping and shows around a 700mbps connection speed, its a newish (year old) laptop fully up to date with drivers and W11 25h2. I've swapped the user onto a blank new imaged model of the same laptop and the issue has persisted! I'm starting to think maybe a Windows update/Meraki Wifi update is causing an issue with this specific brand of laptop - we only have a few of them. I'm not hearing complaints from anyone else so either its not happening or they're just not reporting it Anyone else seen this? Ironically the only time I've seen it (and rarely!) is on my W11 work desktop so a completely different (hardwired) setup

    Rolling out Neos

Aye they definitely look a lot more repairable. Mainboard, battery, speakers, usb ports and even the keyboard look reasonably replaceable. Screen might be trickier but its a definite improvement Speed wise I've not noticed I'm running on a 'lesser' chip than my personal m4 MBA so I'm impressed, especially at the edu pricing level you'd struggle to as good a windows or even chromebook device

    Rolling out Neos

Been trialling one for a couple of days now - in 'normal' use to me it feels like a 13" MBA - I use a 15"MBA as my personal laptop at home and apart from some subtle differences in the screen and the lack of the backlighting on the keyboard the performance has been absolutely fine. I'm using cloud apps, local apps and watching content and its been very solid Repairability is a concern for class use, but having spent most of a day extracting a keyboard from a Dell laptop, this is more of a common theme across all laptops these days! I'm also concerned how long the white keys (on my silver EDU model) would stay white!

Thanks, that’s a useful bit of info

    Rolling out Neos

Honestly, I know a couple of techy people who already have them for home and have been very pleasantly surprised how good they are - I mean, we're not editing 4k video streams on them but for general use and web apps they're basically an ipad with a keyboard attached and we use ipads with no issue
  21. I think its also to stop them customising the home page in chrome etc - used to use the desktop app which worked ok!
  22. Yes that's what I see for Staff etc - but because we prevent students from signing into Google (accounts.google.com) it just shows the spinning wheel In the smoothwall logs I can see the block on accounts.google.com so it must try to connect to that before going to google earth
  23. Anyone found a way to allow google earth (web version) without allowing students to sign into google? It seems blocking the sign in page accounts.google.com stops google earth from working We're a MS school so SLT don't want them signing into other email providers but seems google earth doesn't work with this blocked (even though you're not actually signing in!)

I'm talking about using them instead of windows laptops so they'll cope fine with the office/music/art apps we use anyway I've happily managed suites of Macs in a Windows domain before - albeit a little while ago!

    Rolling out Neos

Its been a while since I managed Macs in a Windows environment, but with the Neo's being so cheap and so good for the price (around £415 edu price!) I can't honestly think of a reason not to deploy some in certain areas (Art/Music for example) Anyone else planning to deploy Neos, or already have? We already use Mosyle for iPads so would just pay for the MacOS mdm licenses. I'm getting one in to test the battery life in the real world etc but the old days of them being prohibitively expensive are gone
