Have you made sure the sqlanywhere service is running on the server? Start > Run > DBSVMN50 and make sure its running Is the ODB path correct on the workstations? Start > Run > ODBCAD32 > SYSTEMDSN configure the SIMS32 dsn and make sure that the field for database file is pointing to the SIMS.DB file as it appears on the server not the workstation Hope this helps

I have had similar problems with FMS and all I could do was do the install from CD (which failed to work after updating) Then copy all files in /program files/SIMS/FMS to the new machine from a known updated working machine. Not an ellegant fix, but it works. Funny, I don't remember saying that

you can get mustangs in manual and automatic, getting one that isn't left hand drive is the real challenge

You not recommending your MX-3 then? As lovely as my little Mx-3 is, rhyds is on about getting "another car", if you ever get "another car" to run along side your everyday car you would want something a little different surely. Granted you don't see that many mx-3s around but you see even fewer mustangs
-
they are considered to be "cool"/"cute" by lasses mainly, now what you want to get yourself is a mustang

Although it was a good series there were bits that seemed a bit out of place and hardly funny at all, the episode about stress for example with all the jokes about everything made in Britain been absolutely sh*te was kinda annoying and not very funny at all. Can't fault Chris Morris for his performance in the series though, what a guy. Could be interesting to see how this new series plays out.

Many happy returns, but why aren't you out drinking instead of posting on the forum?

The utility was demoed at Keele this year, it explicetly asks you which DB you want to convert, as I remember it it only allows you to convert one DB each time you run the utility so you shouldn't have to worry about it converting all of your DBs.

I was under the impression that the installer would execute not matter what OS your running on and kick off the .net2 install then move onto the .net3, at which point it would fail if you were only on 2000 but leave .net2 installed. Of course i could be wrong, not actually tested it myself.

I myself made several postings on the SUpportnet forums over a month ago and have recently noticed many more people doing the same thing, granted they weren't so much as asking Capita to provide an MSI as they were enquiring as to how each authority was dealing with it and if anyone themselves had managed to make a fully automated MSI package to be deployed via AD. Yes, the standard upgrades are working great at the moment, we have a fair few schools running solus automatically over the weekend. However this Infrastructure Update Utility is NOT a standard upgrade, and as such cannot be deployed through solus, this much everyone knows. But unless you installing SIMS .Net on a machine for the first time it means that you have to go out of your way to locate every machine that needs the utility running and then do so. The whole thing is a complete PITA. An unattended MSI or proper silent running executables would have made life oh so much simpler and easier.

Has this thread been censored? Why change the subject to "?"?

I thought they already had! (Got a sense of humour I mean, not performed "rain magic" - although...) They could just call the chinese for a helping hand: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/07/17/dont_rain_on_my_parade_say_commies/

Most certainly lager is infinitely better served cold, but quite often they don't do the job and for that you need an ale. tbh my drink of choice when out is a good ol' pint o' Guinness, love the stuff, don't think i'd be able to hack a yard of the stuff though lol
-
English ale is the greatest in all the land! A yard of Black Sheep ale, now that'd be something [-o< For my 21st I went out into town with the lads to get plastered and have a good time on friday, then day after (my actual birthday) we went bowling with the WAGs and went to pizza hut after, day after my birthday I went for a meal with my family, quite a busy weekend. Just remember you don't have to get it all done in one day, spread the fun across a weekend and make it last.

I believe the main selling poit was that it allowed LEAs the ability to push software and updates out centrally to their schools, however atm we are able to remote onto most of our schools servers and are able to push out applications and software through AD, all Centrastage would do for us is save us a little bit of time, but given that we don't really roll out any software on a grand scale to all schools at once (aside from the SIMS .Net upgrade which I'm still not convinced CentraStage can manage) it really doesn't seem to be worth the trouble or the cost for our LEA as far as I can see. I have to agree with Skoggmeiger too, from what I've heard so CentraStage only supports MSI files and not EXEs much like AD, at a recent webinar CentraStage claimed that they would not be offering any assistance in converting EXEs to MSIs, so unless you are comfortable with this process already you may very well run into trouble, but again if you are already comfortable with this process your probably already pushing out software through AD and probably have no need for this product.
-
My understanding was that CentraStage could be used to push out the Sims Infrastructure Update utility, which was going to be a right farce for technicians to go round their schools installing it on each and every admin machine that runs SIMS .Net. I don't believe that it can be used for the standard monthly (near enough) Sims .Net or indeed the odd FMS upgrades. As far as Centrastage goes, beyond this feature I personally can't see there been much use for this application within a primary school although having said that I could almost certainly be useful in seondary schools having to deal with larger networks.

Not sure if this has already been posted on here before or not but I thought I'd post it again anyway. I was introduced to this flash animation by a friend of mine, to this day I curse him for wasting a large chunk of my life on this animation. If you find yourself bored and with more time on your hand than you know what to do with, give it a watch and see if you can make it to the end.

Pure genius! Thanks a lot for that steve it worked a treat, I had previous tried that with the icons option not knowing that they are actually "Caption buttons". Thanks again steve I can work on regaining my sanity.
-
I don't suppose anyone else has had any experiences like this? Driving me crazy trying to figure out whats wrong with it.
-
Thanks for your reply Steve, I have already tried this, the attached file "classic style with large icons.jpg" shows the result.
-
On my machine I decided to revert my theme from XP style to Classic (granted this should have been done some time ago but I do kinda like the tellitubbie interface of XP). My problem is that when I apply the classic theme all the icons on the taskbar suddenly become minute! I have tried altering various settings, rebooted umpteen times and nothing has made a difference. I even tried setting the taskbar to use large icons but these then become too large, after reverting back to XP style the icons are once again the correct size. I know this is hardly a serious problem but its just one of those things that going to keep bugging me until I've got it sorted. Has anyone else come across this before? Screenshots attached. Thanks in advance for any assistance offered.

What would you look like if you were a Simpsons character?

True, although whatever respect you may have for them would have to be masked behind a high degree of anger, can't let them know your proud of them
