Cheers. Don't 'spose you're willing/able to share what you've set for DO in GP? Did you bother to create a Group ID or set any min/max values? Assume you've set the Download mode to LAN (1) only?
-
Thanks @jthompson. Which monitoring are you using for WU checks? Presume you're able to defer 'dodgy' updates etc, as usual? I'm not that fussed about using Azure for monitoring server updates (especially if I can do it on-prem for free), but I do want auto updates in rings on servers (just WUs, not feature updates or drivers etc), with the ability to pause a dodgy one, without having to use WSUS. If I can still achieve that with WUfB without a charge, then great! Out of interest, have you set up a caching server? We've got a couple of sites with over 1000 devices, so would make sense, even with 1GB synchronous bb.
-
Ugh. I've been looking at alternatives for WSUS patching for servers again this morning, and thought great - I'll use WUfB for clients and servers. But noooo MS now charge for ARC servers. We've a lot of on-prem servers across our Trust, so it's unaffordable to pay £3.71 a month per server. Thanks MS - perhaps the £80K I give you each year, isn't quite enough. Sticking with WSUS for servers seems to be the only option right now.

It looks like OneDrive and SharePoint Tenant-to-Tenant migrations has been split out: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/enterprise/cross-tenant-onedrive-migration?view=o365-worldwide But... Licensing Cross Tenant User Data Migration is available as an add-on to the following Microsoft 365 subscription plans for Enterprise Agreement customers. User licenses are per migration (onetime fee). Please contact your Microsoft account team for details. Microsoft 365 Business Basic/Business Standard/Business Premium/F1/F3/E3/A3/E5/A5; Office 365 F3/E1/A1/E3/A3/E5/A5; Exchange Online; SharePoint Online; OneDrive for Business. Double-but: Our MS licensing provider says: "We spoke with them about this on Friday, the cross tenant user data migration is only available for Enterprise Agreement customers now."

Seems Microsoft have shut out MATs/schools from using any tenant-to-tenant sharepoint migrations. They've removed the ability to use Mover.io The Cross-tenant SharePoint migration page suggests a licence is now required, but having a chat with our Microsoft licensing provider, they are telling me that Microsoft will only provide this to enterprise, not education. Therefore, I can only assume that the only way I've now got left to do a Sharepoint and OneDrive cross-tenant migration for a secondary school next week, is to purchase a 3rd party product/service. Poor show from MS! Why remove the ability to use a cross-tenant tool before the new one is ready? Mover.io still allows from on-prem and 3rd party, it's just cross-tenant that is no longer possible for free (or even the ability to purchase a licence from MS).

I guess I'm interested in what Arbor etc doesn't do compared to SIMS; Or perhaps doesn't do very well. I'm not too worried about things like student/staff data at this stage because that's so basic and bread and butter... Thinking more like timetable, options, reporting (as in student reports/profiles/assessment), exams, etc. The peripheral parts of SIMS particularly (e.g. Nova-T, exams, Online Options). I've already asked Salamander, Wonde, Groupcall, ParentPay etc what MIS systems they support - looks like pretty much all the 3rd party stuff we use will work with the main MIS competitors.
-
Hi, apologies if someone's already asked this... Has anyone done a comparison (matrix) of the main features between SIMS/Arbor/Bromcom etc that they'd be willing to share? Saves reinventing the wheel.

[ms office - o365] Office 365 A1 Plus Licensing
lewisburgess replied to DavR's topic in Office Software
As there's a couple of relevant threads about the same issue, please see my post here: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/office-software/215576-office-365-device-based-activation-confirmed-no-longer-activating-2.html#post1845317 (We already have 'unlimited' Office 365 A1 Pro Plus licences which were added a few years ago FOC and have pushed out O365 using Shared Device Activation successfully at no further cost - so if you have these already, you're set.) -
In addition to the above... We have successfully deployed Office 365 via SCCM using OCT and changing the configuration.xml file to include: . When a user loads an O365 app and has Office 365 A1 Pro Plus assigned to them, Office 365 apps will automatically activate for them. It does not count towards their device count (as expected with SCL). When a user loads an O365 app who is not licensed, it will ask them to sign in to O365. This does mean we need to ensure all of our test, temporary, exam, assessment, cover staff, etc accounts will all need to be licensed. Technically this isn't an issue as O365 Pro A1 Pro Plus is 'unlimited' (it is limited but something like 300,000 iirc) - so may just be an issue with the terms of the MS licensing itself - I've not checked yet. We were previously deploying 1906 as DBA was stable. We deployed 2005 with SCL and it works fine. So it appears, if you managed to get Microsoft to add the A1 Pro Plus licenses (linked to the self sign up for O365 previously), which was quite a chore and pretty difficult, then you can technically activate O365 apps using Shared Computer Licensing. The other benefit is Edge Chromium is now sync'ing nicely. Next job is to migrate from ADFS to Azure AD SSO auth.

This is an interesting article... https://contosoedu.com/deploying-office-365-proplus-device-based-subscription-for-edu/ Currently following it and got to the end of part 4. I did assign the licence to the group in Azure AD Portal as it appears MS have changed this since the article was written. I assigned the dynamic group for devices to Office 365 A1 Pro Plus Faculty (unlimited) which we already had assigned to our tenant a few years ago. I recently migrated all 6 of our sites in to a single Trust-wide O365 tenant and single AD forest so this helps. We're going to try a new OCT step in our SCCM build TS. I've made changes to Azure AD Sync & ADFS as per https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/devices/hybrid-azuread-join-federated-domains Devices are now starting to show up as Hybrid Azure AD joined.
