We use parago asset management. It is a cloud based solution. All our desktops run a parago client that updates parago so we can track installed software and check machine hardware. We use iPod touches to scan the barcodes on nearly ever asset when we take an inventor - quick and easy. You can add anything into the system asset-wise and has a csv importer for the bigger imports. It also includes a Helpdesk feature that we use. I don't know the costings. Let me know if I can be of any additional help. We are in Hampshire - not sure if your rules up there!

SIMS Autumn release is not showing on Solus2. Has anyone updated to the Autumn release via Solus2?

After upgrading to Exchange 2013 our exchange powershell script used to delete items from the deleted items folder no longer works. The previous command was - Get-Mailbox -ResultSize unlimited | Export-Mailbox -DeleteContent -IncludeFolders "\deleted items" Does anyone have a exchange powershell command to complete this action?

I have a web server that can host the wpad file. Even with BYOD we only have a very very small percentage of android users...so this wouldn't cause me too much of a headache

Looking for some help... We have a smoothwall UTM 1000 box and we are currently using the .pac file auto created by this. I am looking to use a WPAD file so that I can deploy the proxy settings via DNS and DHCP to BYOD clients as this is causing a headache at the moment to do. How do you create a .wpad file? Is it as simple as renaming the .pac file to a .wpad? If not how can I create a .wpad that reflects the .pac information. I have a webserver that I can host the .wpad file on.

Has Patch 18525 appeared on Solus for anyone else? Or does anyone have a copy I can use to patch our SIMS server before tomorrow? The e-mail from SIMS states - 'As you will be aware, number of patches have recently been released to deal with different scenarios relating to the summer examination results. To simplify processes, we have now produced Consolidated Patch 18525 and are in the process of releasing it on SOLUS2 and SOLUS3. The Consolidated Patch groups together the patches listed below and should only be run on the SIMS Summer Upgrade version 7.152. If you check for Patch 18525 on SOLUS3 and cannot see it listed, you will be able to download it from SOLUS2 onto your server to update SIMS'

I'm sure there are plenty of threads already but can any one advise on a cheap or free MSI creator?

And how do you deploy the .exe via SCCM. I only see an option for MSI. How to's would be very helpful, but I'm sure your busy...as we all are.

How are you all deploying software with SCCM 2012? Do you package software using a MSI builder or can .exe be used? Do you deploy software via different collections for different departments?

I am setting up a SCCM 2012 server. I would like to enable reporting but have read it is advised this runs on a separate SQL server. Is anyone doing this? We have 1000 machines and 1300 users...could I enable reporting on the same server as SCCM?

Dany We do this on a daily basis so students cannot login to their local account and must use their domain account We run a script at start-up that copies a security profile template to the device. On shutdown a script run that resets the security profile to another template that allows local login - so they can login at home.

It's the SQL Service. Its causing a lot of problems with users using SIMS and is effecting PARS - This reads the SIMS database for attendance and is becoming a bit concern

Since the new release of SIMS our SIMS server has been running at 100% RAM & CPU. Has anyone else experienced this problem? The server has been restarted. Is it possible to downgrade?

I just wanted to post about our new wireless system that was installed over the summer. I know Meru are massive in education and we did look into a meru system but ended up choosing Aerohive. The system is fantastic, we now have 100% school coverage with 78 AP's. Meru offered 50 AP's for the same cost. We do not have a centralised controller as it is all run by the AP's and in the cloud. It is easily configured and managed. We have the ability to assign Private Pre-Shared WPA2 keys to any students and can revoke these if required. We purchased from a company called Lan3 and on completion of the installed me and my team were training and certified in Aerohive technologies. I don't tend to post about our school network - unless there is a problem or if I can help someone else but wanted other to be aware that this maybe a solution for your school.
