I installed server2003 and it went on straight no problem. Gave up on the 2008 dream

there's something up with the BB server agent 1 (will not restart errors) MAPI doesnt work I added a few users to bes but they were stuck on initializing. so i deleted them and now they're stuck in some purge limbo re:mapi i'm not quite sure how upto date exchange 2003 is, what SPs its got on. I had the server manager on, cant remember if I added SPs or not now. but mapi didnt work.

what's happened: got the port opened. That bit works great! SMTs decided not to pay vodafone £900 odd quid to set it up, so I've done it myself, but it doesnt work properly and they wont give us any support (unsurprisingly). The whole enterprise software seems like a complete bodge. It's got mad preinstall requirements. I've obviously gone wrong somewhere along the line but I havent got time to spend weeks on it, and they want it before the end of term (Its a trial) so they're gonna have to pony up for V to come and do it. The software is free to use for up to 10 users I think. but you need to be on a blackberry mobile service.

not quite sure what the problem here. workstations boots on PXE, we get the windows logo from anwhereTS, then nothing happens. according to a trace, its looking for an ip for the terminal server. for no apparent reason dns reports no such name, even though it resolves in nslookup

call yourself a techie ~ with 2mb broadband I get my components separately a bit like my software applications!! freesat from an old skybox telephone from talktalk (free offpeak calls for about £14 total) 8mb @ 8mb from entanet (£30 but thats a high offpeak allowance)

does this kind of thing apply to the IDE DL140s?
-
hmm maybe i'll try 2003 server instead...this is like *too* hard.

Got one of these http://www.edugeek.net/forums/our-advertisers/20978-hp-proliant-dl140-servers-dual-xeon-199-a.html to install 2008 & use as a terminal server Dual xeon with 4gb ram ought to be good enough. Been thru the 2008 install, when it reboots server just hangs with flashing cursor. We dont think its driver related as the HDDs are IDE Downloaded the 2008 HP smartstart cd but it doesnt support this server from old reviews on the net this is a "budget server" and even originally didnt come with any proper smartstart software. Looked on the hp support site but cant see anything obvious. I'm pretty much stuck now. anyone got any ideas?

same here. only the NM gets them. on my desk i have a fujitsu scenic x101 P4, added ram to 1GB and a cheap ati card for dual monitor, 160gb HDD & dual layer 16x rewriter. but it still struggles abit if i have to many apps open.

there was some talk on the net about service packs causing it. In the end, had to do away with them and go with the more usual create 'people' and share their calendars.

seems an unlikely explanation. -
it's ok it's sorted now. I talked to some server support people. What I didnt realise was you can see in IIS what certificate is being used on the default website. (what u said) Which turned out to be the newly formed certificate so I could revoke the old one without fear
-
so i semi-followed the instructions here: SSL Enabling OWA 2003 using your own Certificate Authority and renewed our expired certificate, now in the certificate authority app, I have #2 expired cert #3 new cert I'm guessing if i revoke the expired one the new will take over? I'm a bit scared to do it in case I break external webmail.

if anyone was qualified in those ways, would they be working in education?

Egg on face time! setup the "school calendar" in a public folder on exchange 2k3 Some admin staff have author/editor permissions. Everyone else has reviewer permissions. (i'm owner) secretary puts on some items. They're plainly visible on her version of the school calendar, they're not appearing on anyone elses including mine Am I missing something here?
-
they're usually pretty reluctant to do it either way if you've got a vodaphone school business contract u can get a trial blackberry for about 83p/day and the software is free to use from the RIM site with 1 CAL. we're gonna give it a go.

Does anyone on the CLEO network use the blackberry enterprise software with exchange?
-

a m8 just told me about this, seems like something that might be of interest here. Given all the ahem geeks on here, maybe its something that could be used for meeting up from time to time, more socially than conferences. GeekUp is a community of web designers, web developers, and other tech-minded folk from the North West there's one in preston on the 16th june.

i reckon so, I've used a script to add WINS settings (using WMI) e.g. strComputer = args(0) changewins = args(1) if args.count > 0 then Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:\\" _ & strComputer & "\root\CIMV2") Set colItems = objWMIService.ExecQuery( _ "SELECT * FROM Win32_NetworkAdapterConfiguration WHERE IPEnabled = True",,48) For Each objItem in colItems if (objItem.WINSPrimaryServer<>"") then wscript.echo strcomputer & "--> " & objItem.WINSPrimaryServer & "," & objItem.WINSSecondaryServer _ & " - " & objItem.ipaddress(0) 'objItem.Description if changewins="YES" or changewins ="yes" then if (objItem.WINSPrimaryServer<>"192.168.0.5")then intSetWINSServer = objitem.SetWINSServer(strWINSPrimaryServer,strWINSSecondaryServer) If intSetWINSServer = 0 Then WScript.Echo " Successfully set WINS servers." ElseIf intSetWINSServer = 1 Then WScript.Echo " Successfully set WINS servers BUT Must reboot." Else WScript.Echo " Unable to set WINS servers." end if end if end if end if Next else wscript.echo "To run this script:" wscript.echo "-------------------" wscript.echo VBCLF wscript.echo "c:\cscript winscheck.vbs " wscript.echo "where YES (optional) applies to whether to change WINS settings" end if

oh aye thats a definite problem for females. Even the ones they only talk to are quite bad by all accocunts. However if you're a decent guy who doesnt a) ask them out after 2 seconds b)want to talk about sex all the time You're on to a winner!
-
I'm surprised this hasnt come up sooner, I mean its a site full of (mostly), dare I say it ;-) nerdy blokes There's no way I can be the only person who has done or is doing, using a dating site. Anyone use a dating? just wondering really, I did for a while until I didnt need to. :-) Their (sites not females, well actually them too but) nature is quite fascinating. I found them whilst generally not following any rules of common sense a hotbed of behavioural psychology. WITHOUT slagging off the opposite sex or being rude, anyone got any anecdotes or recommendations they wish to share. here's mine: contrary to common sense, a less detailed profile works better than a more detailed one. In the former, they're hoping to have stuff in common, in the later, they're sure they dont.
