Suspect disk corruption on a MacBook Pro Can I plug the HDD in via USB to a Windows machine and do CHKDSK I also have an iPad The Macbook will not boot - Apple logo comes up - line goes across - then repeats again and again Tried holding ALT on startup - The symbol of the HDD comes up but NOT the RECOVERY Section icon Thanks
-
Sorted The machine has 2 drives Rebooted - pressed Ctrl+F to get into the RAID settings Deleted the Raid Array using number 3 (I think this deletes your data!) Removed 1 disk anyway (cuz I wanted the other one) Booted from Win 10 DVD and installed Windows - no complaints this time Cheers
-
Well I downloaded a verion of Win 10 iso and burnt a disk On installing it says it cant read the HDD and needs a driver - where is the best place to get the RAID driver ? Thanks
-
In the BIOS, I can only see RAID is Autodetect or ON - under SATA operation If anyone can see how to do a clean install without paying, then please let me know. I know upgrades are free, but to boot it from a Win 10 DVD bypasses that doesn't it ??
-
The RAID is ATI 2+0 Stripe/RAID0 SCSI Disk Device Dated 2006 Not sure how to update this...
-
Yep 2 drives both 160Gb with 2Gb RAM RAID is set to Autodetect. There is no setting to switch RAID off that I can see
-
Do you mean a BIOS update Also, I am not doing a clean install - it is an upgrade from Win 7 Thanks
-
Hi I am trying to upgrade Win 7 to 10 on a Dell 1721 It gets as far as pic attached Is there a workaround - can I disable the RAID Thanks
-
You could be right - wasn't sure if there is a cable for outdoor use

I run a cable from a router for around 100m outside to a caravan. It has been in place for a couple years no problem. Half of it is between telegraph poles and the other half is overground in a plastic water pipe. Suddenly stopped receiving signal from the router, so we changed the 2 plugs on the end - no difference. Then made up a connector which joins wires 1+2, 3+4, 5+6 and 7 +8 and plugged it into one end of the wire. Came back to the other end and ran an ohms meter between 1+2 etc and got an average reading of 84ohms Tried the same measurement on a 100m of new cable and got a reading of 17ohms. What does this mean ? I had a similar problem with another cable to the caravan over 2 years ago which had been in place for 2 or 3 years ????

I upgraded to Wins 10 while ago, but now want to sell the machine as I have moved on to another machine, as this one had problems The recovery sector will take it back to Win 7 which I want to do to start afresh So my question is - will it be possible to upgrade to Wins 10 again on the same machine ???? Thanks
-
Sorted it Right click on it in Computer Management Choose "Assign Drive Letter" Solved Easy when u know how
-
OK I don't need to recover stuff because I can read it with an XP machine Why is it not readable on my Vista machine ??
-
Its NTFS I have done a disk check via XP using the Error checking and ticking the 2 boxes
-
Read as RAW in Computer Management in Vista Plug it into XP and I can read the files no problem Its a FREECOM 500GB external Hard drive I have another Freecom Drive that reads OK on Vista Any ideas
-
Oh How does that happen ??
-
Don't want to do that - settings etc Wins 7 works apart from LAN network
-
Yep Mainly because it was upgraded to Wins 10 - had problems, then reverted back to Wins 7 Since then the LAN network connection has not worked no matter what I have tried - driver - netsh commands - tweaking windows repair Its an Acer Z5761
