Strange one this........ One of our users logs onto her laptop, opens up her home folder and is unable to rename any files or folders on it. Your probably all thinking permissions (I was) but they have full control of their home folder and the permissions have properagted through the folder to child folders etc..... I've deleted the local copy of the profile, purged the offline files incase it was something local and it makes no difference. We gave her another laptop, she logs on and it works as expected. I've moved the original laptop computer account into the same OU in AD as the new laptop to rule out any strange GPs - no difference. I'm confused any ideas?

To log a change request goto frontersupport.co.uk on the left hand side, click Log an issue and fill out the form.
-
Not possible on a brainstorm. Have you registered it as a change request with Fronter? I can't see a reason why you wouldn't want the user details by the post. Why not use one of the other forum types, i'm pretty sure every other type shows the user details.

I'm in London connected to the LGfL - Internet has been better recently, was pretty poor before xmas and we've just gone for an upgrade to 100Mb! Anybody else on 100Mb with Synetrix? The new LondonMail service is well worth a look - we are rolling it out to pupils in the next couple of weeks!

Can you change the location of the quickletter template? If you can, include it in a roaming profile (if you using them)?

Just tested it and that works. Ok for a techie, long winded for a member of office staff!
-
I thought that, but the report is generated and they automatically appear like that. If you select a cell then goto Format -> Cells -> Date/Time and select dd/mm/yy format click ok, it doens't change.
-
Something raised by our office staff today, they have created a report to produce of a list of when staff CRB checks expire. When they enter this information they enter the date in the format dd/mm/yy (as with most things in SIMS) When the report is produced, dates are coming out as 9th Januaray 2008 for example. When you preview the report at the design stage the date appear correctly, but not in the final output to Excel. Has anybody come across this before and have we missed something stupid??!?

Netsupport has an incorrect client IP
adamf replied to adamf's topic in Network and Classroom Management
It could be, i've compared DHCP, DNS and WINS and there are some inconsistancies, duplicate entries on the revserse lookup zone. I've deleted them and let them re-created to see what happens. -
Netsupport has an incorrect client IP
adamf replied to adamf's topic in Network and Classroom Management
This doesn't only happen after breaks, this seems to be anytime the lease expires and the machine gets a new IP. -
We have this strange problem with NetSsupport, when the DHCP lease expires and the client gets a new IP address, NetSupport does not seem to be picking up the change and therefore you can't connect to the machine using the Tutor console. Has anybody seen this before, or do you have any suggestions to how to solve it?

Got it. Logged on as the pupil and restored from the recycle bin!
-
When you delete files/folders from a network location they don't go to the recycle bin do they?
-
I've done a dir /a /s and it looks like the contents of the home directory or at least some of it is in the RECYCLER\Account SID folder Any ideas how I can get at it?
-
Just done a DIR at the cmd prompt, it shows the number of directories we can see in the folder
-
Nope, I can't see the files/folders on the server either....
-
Nope, we as admins have full control of the folder as does the user
-
A strange problem that occured today...... A pupil logs on to find they are missing all their work, nothing but 2 folders in their home directory - my pics and my music (i think). When we right click on the home directory and goto properities, Windows claims there is 190 files and 46 folders but yet none can be seen - and before anybody says it they are not hidden Any ideas??

I've signed up myself and all my technicans for Fast Track Dispatch before we broke up. I've yet to use it and can only use it on a certain number of our machines with ProSupport warranties, thats the downside, otherwise it looks a good concept! Whats iSupport all about, I couldn't find anything on the website about it?
-
We've solved it! We usually ghost, troubleshoot etc the machines using a monitor we've got on our test bench - it's only got a VGA connector so we use a DVI->VGA cable. This works for every other model of Dell Optiplex we have be it GX620, 745 and 755 but not for the 760. We've just plugged in the monitor that came with the system using DVI->DVI and it works! It never occured to me that it wouldn't work! At least it's solved.! It's something to do with VGA as the monitor that came with it has VGA but it also doesn't work on that!
-
The monitor we are using with doesn't have dual inputs - only VGA

You can't plug a graphics card into the USFF machines. There is HDD activity when you power up.
-
Nope. No menu screen for selecting safe mode etc...
