  1. Phil, I had a case logged because initially I suspected it to be a SIMS problem, but it looks more and more like a Windows problem, something I guess is outside of Capitas remit in terms of what you'll support?
  2. I've narrowed this problem down further. The error is only generated for normal staff (ie: those without admin rights) and only when they log onto a terminal server session. It doesn't matter who logs onto SIMS. So, It's down to premissions. When you goto Focus -> My Marksheet Entry what is SIMS trying to access or do that it can't. I've looked at the permisisons on the SIMS.net folder, Windows/Temp, C:\Temp and everything is correct. Any ideas what i'm missing? Cheers Adam.
  3. I can work around it by changing the proxy settings in IE - it's normal staff that need to be able to upload. Does it need any configuring or does it just get straight to work??
  4. Nope. I don't use the firewall client - rather hoping to avoid it if I can!
  5. I'm trying to upload a SCORM course to Fronter that is 300MB in size. All traffic goes via our ISA Server. Whenever we try this using the multiple files upload java applet in Fronter nothing happens, the file appears to upload but the connection times out after a while. I started a query in ISA and found that the connection is being denied for some reason... When I change the proxy in IE to our ISPs proxy everything uploads fine. It doesn't seem to make a difference if I upload a small set of files or a large set of files - if it goes via the ISA server it doesn't work. This is what ISA is chucking out: Denied Connection ISASERVER 10/03/2009 21:34:22 Log type: Web Proxy (Forward) Status: 12209 The ISA Server requires authorization to fulfill the request. Access to the Web Proxy filter is denied. 6. What do you mean? All the RAM is being used up, processor usage??
  7. Since the end of last week we have had a problem with staff accessing their marksheets on SIMS. When they goto Focus -> My Marksheets or Focus -> Assessment -> Marksheet entry a error is generated: Fault Code: 3561-6934-6000 The type initializer for SIMS.Processes.DocumentManagement threw and exception : System.TypeInitializationException We've tried various fixes from Capita/LA Support none of which have made a difference. I've tried removing SIMS and .NET Framework and reinstalling them - nothing. Today i resorted to rebuilding the server which has the client on it. A bit of background on our network - teaching staff access SIMS using 2 terminal servers which have the client on. With the same user this only happens on one of the 2 servers. The only rights a normal teacher has is: Class Teacher Assessment Operator - although i'm told that class teacher has enough rights for entering grades on marksheets Anybody got any ideas?
  8. Over the weekend I migrated our staff data from one server to another, now our folder redirection is broken........ We have a policy to redirect the users my documents folder to their home folder and now it insists on redirecting to the old location rather than the new location. The users have had their home folder location changed in AD and nothing has changed on the policy. I've tried a gpupdate /force and it makes no difference. Any ideas why this is happening?
  9. Nothing ovbious in the DNS logs, DCDiag everything passes and i've checked and double checked for duplicate entries. Any other ideas?
  10. Earlier this week we moved 3 servers to different IP ranges (from a 10.62.0.x to 10.59.100.x). All servers are accessible by their IP addresses and 2 are accessible by their DNS names. The 3rd will is not accessible by it's DNS name despite the entry being present in on the DNS servers and the correct DNS server are set on the server. When I do an nslookup I get the old IP address - both forward and reverse entries have been removed from DNS. I've done a ipconfig /flushdns and ipconfig /registerdns and the correct IP gets re-registered in DNS but it still looks up under the old one. It doesn't seem to make a difference which machine I try and access the server from, be it a client or another server. There is nothing in any of the hosts files on any of the machines referencing the old IP address. I've cleared the cache on the DNS server are rebooted the server in quesiton.....nothing. Any ideas Thanks.
  11. It doesn't integrate at all. There will be something from Fronter to deliver a "view" from SIMS. Fronter will never write data back to SIMS because of the licencing issues - i can't remember exactly the reasoning
  12. There is a set of reports that genereate 4 csv files and then an application that send those files to Fronter - this is how it worked for us a few months ago when we were still using Facility. I wasn't aware that you need to make the server visible on the internet for the purpose of Fronter - unless the've changed things
  13. Do any of you use or know of any Lesson Planning software for teachers. I've been asked to find out about such a thing with a view to getting rid of the teachers planners. With registers, assesment etc... all being done on SIMS this it seems that more and more elements of the teachers planner are not being used. I had a look around google but there seems quite a few, just after some recommendations if possible. Thanks.
  14. Hoepfully someone can help me out here! This morning when our staff are logging onto SIMS most are getting a fault code and the error: Access to path \\servername\pupils\home folder\my sims documents is denied Can anybody shed some light on why it's looking to create a my sims document in the same folder everytime? Cheers Adam.
  15. Hmmmm..... I can't get it to work! I've now got 3 rules under web chaning: 1: Bypass Synetrix - applying to traffic sent to a URL set and set to retrieve directly from the specified destination. 2: Redirect to Synetrix - applied to External and set to forward requests to proxy1.equinoxsolutions.com 3: Last default rule When I try and browse to a site that is blocked using the url filtering I get the brown Network Access Error message saying timeout. Do i need to do anything at the client end?
  16. If you've got ProSupport warranties it is a good service. I've logged 2 warranty requests now, one for a latitude keyboard and one for a optiplex CPU fan - even if it did take me 20 minutes to find the right part number for the fan! Some of the names for the parts are very ambiguous but things like HDDs and keyboards are sensibly named.
  17. YouTube never stopped working for us! On the web chaining..... are you not just redirecting to an upstream proxy.. in which case your not bypassing Synetrix's filtering. If your doing something else with web chaining, what is it because i'd be interested to look at configuring ours differently.
  18. We bought a Sonicwall SSL VPN solution, excellent piece of kit, lots of scope for customising access. We originally had a service provide by our ISP but it became a pain having to make change requests to get new services setup for remote access on it. I also looked a a Juniper solution, very expensive (compared to SonicWall) and required some sort of CALS for accessing it.
  19. May or may not be relevant as I did 2k3 to 2k3 but anythings worth a try..... When you added the admin groups did you add Domain Admins global group from the source to the Administrators local group on the target and vice versa (you didn't say in your post) Do you have a local group called SOURCEDOMAIN$$$ in the source domain (without any members in it)?
  20. In terms of rooms for subjects, each class gets a room - this data is taken straight out of your MIS and imported into Fronter - this is the same for pupils and staff. So in terms of classrooms everything should be done for you when the initial import is done. We've gone for a concept of "Super Rooms" where all the teaching material is stored and then can be copied out to individual rooms - this save a lot of time creating the same resource 4 or 5 times over in different rooms. We have a room for each subject and then pages for the different years within the room. We established an "MLE Team" who I gave admin rights to selected parts of Fronter so they could create rooms for clubs, school council etc.... In practice this has worked for us because of the size of our school (1900 pupils) I wouldn't be able to manage all the requests on my own. Hope that helps!
  21. What kind of info do you need? Are you talking along the lines of what rooms they want or something like that? In terms of the teaching rooms, everything comes striaght from your MIS. If you can explain a bit more I might be able to provide more info - at the moment i'm not sure what exactly your asking
  22. At the start of December we had a reg group change...We created the new group, went to remove the old group and when prompted select the group we want the students to be members of - all good thought nothing more about it. It now turns out that we have a problem when our attendance person wants to report on the session attendance for the whole year. They select the date range (say 01/09/08 - 30/01/09) and the old reg groups appears and the new one doesn't (as expected) but when a report is run against the old one there is no data returned. How do we get the session attendance data from the old reg group?
  23. Taking ownership again and re-applying ACLs didn't fix it. I think the only action left is to re-image.
  24. I've also dropped the machine onto a workgroup, deleted the computer account in AD and re-joined the laptop back to the domain - still got the same problem.
  25. Yep and rebooted when prompted to do so.
