Thanks @irsprint84. If I did just PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner and left it at that, would I still be rather lacking in knowledge, ie would I still be at the bottom of the pile for possible employment and therefore really need to do ITIL and MSP etc as well?
-
Hello guys I was starting to think about some further study to support some kind of career development/change and was wondering whether anyone out there has experience of PRINCE2, the project management qualification? I have googled it and there are plenty of training providers, prices varying quite a bit. If there is anyone who has studied for this, how did you go about doing it? Can it be self taught or does that make it somewhat harder? Thanks

Can you not licence based on whatever is smaller, either number of users or number of machines? ie school has 200 students and 275 PCs - you would require 200 CALs.

76, low risk. thats what i like.

I think the Serco offering (Progresso) will still have a locally installed solution (Scheduler) for timetabling with. -
Its Friday, I'm off for some beers after school and my new office PC arrived today (an i5 processor). Just got to get my head round Win 7. All is right with the world now. Happy weekends people

Enable Logon In Windows 7.rarHere is the file needed. I havent checked it for viruses however.
-
Finally Microsoft has incorporated a new feature in the latest build (7057) of Windows 7 which supports the end user to change the logon screen background without using any hacks or third-party tools. In previous version of Windows, user had to use third-parry tools like Tune-Up-Utilities to change the logon screen background easily. Windows 7 now supports customization of Windows 7 logon screen officially. Replacing the old logon screen is just another task like changing wallpaper (Desktop background). Thanks to withinwindows for finding out this excellent feature. Follow the procedure below to change the Windows 7 logon screen. 1. Download the registry file from here. Extract the file and double-click on the file to enable this feature (Alternative method: right-click, select Merge). 2. Now, head over to the following folder: C:\Windows\System32\oobe (“C” is your Windows Seven Installation drive) 3. Here, create a new folder named Info. Again, create a new folder inside the Info folder and rename it as backgrounds. 4. Copy your favorite image file to this folder and rename it as backgroundDefault. Note that the image must be in JPG format and the size should be less than 256 KB. 5. You are done. Reboot your system and see the change. The following files (sorted by width-to-height ratio) are supported in C:\Windows\System32\oobe\Info\Backgrounds folder: * backgroundDefault.jpg * background768×1280.jpg (0.6) * background900×1440.jpg (0.625) * background960×1280.jpg (0.75) * background1024×1280.jpg (0.8) * background1280×1024.jpg (1.25) * background1024×768.jpg (1.33-) * background1280×960.jpg (1.33-) * background1600×1200.jpg (1.33-) * background1440×900.jpg (1.6) * background1920×1200.jpg (1.6) * background1280×768.jpg (1.66-) * background1360×768.jpg (1.770833-)

Sounds good. -
Thanks @SYNACK . The existing RAM is DDR2 PC2-5300, so I dont think I need to worry?

Simple RAM question I think, perhaps more of an opinion rather than right or wrong. I am upgrading over 200 Dell Optiplex GX520s (I know they are old, please dont suggest chucking them) to meet a min spec of 2GB RAM. Some will be straight forward as they have just a 1GB stick and a empty slot - so I'll just buy another 1GB stick. The question I have is for the PCs that have 2 x 512MB sticks. Due to there only being 2 slots I know I will have to order 2GB sticks, but is there any reason why I shouldnt take just one 512 out and leave the other? ie upgrading the PCs to 2.5GB instead of 2. I am aware that best performance comes in using 2 of the same sizes side by side, but wondered if a 'mix and match' might cause issues?? Initially this is for an XP install but come September they will be Windows 7 Thanks in advance

Apologies, could be the wrong forum. I need some technical help with Photoshop. It might be this is not possible but I thought it was worth asking. I am re-designing our school desktop and I want our school logo to feature, however I only have it with a white background and my desktop is going to be a red(ish) colour. Unfortunately it isnt a really simple image that I could get away with using a steady hand and a paintbrush, so I was wondering if there was a way of either easily turning the white background into red or whether the image could have a transparent background? Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

I used this at my last school NetSend (freeware) - FOMINE SOFTWARE - very easy and very simple - can mail all users or select individuals

Just ordered one Rawns. Thanks.

Simple one guys Can someone recommend a portable USB hard drive? I know many of you buy these far more regularly than I would so should be good for ideas. All I need is 1TB, only needs to be USB2 as I'm not dealing with any 3.0 hardware. No software needs to be bundled with it and I can encrypt with TruCrypt, so no need to spend any extra in that department. So really its a reliability thing I guess, obviously I dont want anything that you guys out there have had major faults with. Cheers in advance

Pretty much the same here: Data Manager Manage Data

I've always treated it similar to my email signature. I have a degree and sweated out 3 years for it. I think its important to include so others can see, especially in my case where I do a job that technically you dont have to be a graduate to do. What annoys me is when people use letters that are useless (member of such and such association/body etc) which shows no achievement, in some cases all it says is that you pay x amount a year to be a member! To sum up, I am a 'wear it with pride' kinda person. But each to their own.

Hello guys Been a real wally tonight and accidentally applied too much pressure to my Thinkpad T60 (yep, you guessed it, I trod on it!). So, Is it possible for a novice to fit a new one? If yes, can you recommend a decent supplier? If no, can you recommend somewhere that will do the job for me? A seriously pi**ed off James.

Hi guys Have checked other similar posts but not quite the same issue. I have asked staff to review the contents of my docs and by the looks of things (I'm using WinDirStat) plenty of staff have binned stuff but of course it is now sitting in their recycling bins. I want to now empty their bins for them as they are still taking up a hell of a lot of space. Obviously I can't login as each user so can someone recommend the best way forward? I was planning on not using scripts to do this, I am quite happy to target specific users. In WinDirStat I can see the Recycler folder, is it as simple and 'good practice' to just delete from there? Suggestions will be appreciated. James

Hi guys I have searched this topic and the only decent thread didnt have an end result. I could really do with obtaining an MSI for TrueCrypt v7.0. I have tried creating my own using Advanced Installer but it is not working properly. It copies the files across to the specified location but it isnt actually running the version 7 setup.exe, so its more of a 'copy and paste' than an actual install procedure. I have also googled for one as well but with no luck. Due to my lack of knowledge on the subject, I would ask, are people very hesitant to make such things publicly available? If someone can either provide one, or even somewhere I can go that has really good instructions so I can successfully create my own that would be really helpful! I'm not looking forward to manual installs on all my PCs. Thanks again.
