I think the edugeek app has a few bugs as links dont work within the edugeek app , whenever I click on a link to another thread from within the EG App it re-directs me to something totally different ( un-related to what the thread is about ) @ZeroHour - Presume this will be fixed within the EG App at some point soon ?

Why does the same cable for network socket 2 go from one network socket to another network socket ? Surely each network socket needs to be on its own run of network cable going into the patch panel and then be patched in to its own port on the relevant switch ( so just the normal data switch ) ??

Just wondering the file type associations on the computers - what file type / extension does an excel 2013 create versus 2010 that you are saying you used to use before ? Also if you look at the default associations for file types for excel spreadsheets, does it link the excel 2013 file type or extension to excel as the default application or do these computers still have other versions of office installed ie 2010 ? As you mentioned above regards to when opening Excel 2013 and going through it that way it prompts to view it in read only mode and then opens it straight away versus if you try to launch the file ie double click the excel file --> it launches excel 2013 splash screen and won't go any further. Just wondering if there are any options within excel to load an excel workbook straight away in read only mode if it cant be opened fully ie in edit mode ( whatever it is called )

Maybe make the spreadsheet a shared workbook and see if that resolves the issues ?

Remove any / all Visual C++ Redistributable via programs and features or add / remove programs ( depending on windows version ) See if that is any better, if you require the Visual C++ Redistributable for an application etc then obviously install the appropriate version(s) as above

Time for a re image or restore from snap shot or just use a fresh install of whatever OS in the VM and put all the data / apps back etc ??

I have the 5th gen airport extreme base station which at the time was about £140 ( may be cheaper now as they have the 6th AC gen out now ) I did exactly that regards to the below : 1) Disabling the IP Flood Detection and other firewall features on the VM Super hub 2) Changed the SSID of the wireless network , increased the dhcp time out value, and also adjusted the wireless channel that it used instead of leaving it on auto, set the speed to a manual setting either 150 mbps or 300 mbps, adjusted the encryption methods it used and possibly some other settings and I did notice that with the super hub I had to make the changes, submit and save the changes, power the superhub off for 5 seconds, power it back on and then the changes I made took effect properly after the reboot but this only allowed the wireless to work for another day and then it fell over again Forum questions I posted : Re: Firmware Update to improve wireless - Help & Support Forum wireless vanished - Help & Support Forum You can try and go through the list of things I did etc and the other suggestions ref doing a factory default using the pin hole etc, but best way is to set it into modem mode and use a 3rd party router with wireless or a wireless access point.

Think I was a bit too heavy handed - the pcb board was glued to one side of the plastic enclosure and was trying to get it out, I now have 2 parts A PCB Board with a usb connector and then what appears to be a memory chip with a lot of different contacts that originally made contact with the PCB Board. Will try and attach a photo later, hopefully some way of getting the two back together with the correct pins etc and getting something off of it ? Should have done a google or something before trying to remove the PCB board - originally thought it was some kind of heat sink to keep the chips cooler, then saw the pins and was like aahhhh crud Maybe ship it to a fellow edugeeker who is better with repairing / soldering of memory sticks to see if they can get anything off of it ??

Hi All My google fu skills are lacking , I could have sworn there was a post on edugeek a while back where someone posted some useful things to do to try and get a USB Memory Stick to work again ref either soldering or reflowing the solder on the memory stick or something to that effect The memory stick I have been given is not getting any power or being detected by any computer what so ever, I will obviously need to take the USB Memory stick out of its plastic enclosure etc but wondering if someone could post the relevant link and any other things that may help ie data recovery software ( I know about test disk / photo rec ) but think there was another utility or two that have been mentioned in the past Thanks @Arthur @Midget --> Not sure if that is his edugeek handle etc ( apologies if not ) @seawolf @SYNACK

Even after the latest java update which gives you the application is blocked prompt unless the site is in its white list. Unless the malware can auto add itself to that list and then execute the malicious code ??

Does WPad use a pac file or could you not create a pac file to suit and use gpo or gpp to assign the pac file path to IE ??

The network socket , is it something similar to : Where by you have to patch in two different port numbers, almost like there is only one data point / port patched in to a POE switch or something to that effect ......
