  1. yes we are, but we dont use them for anything else. internet etc.
  2. Ive just renewed. Phoenix honoured the website price but its annual (rather than 3 years as before) and you need to buy it through their website rather than a PO. https://www.phoenixs.co.uk/swgfl-sophos/
  3. Thanks, is there anything I need to block in the company portal app itself for student loan devices? Don’t want them wiping the device for example!
  4. I haven't come to any conclusion with this. I think identifying 'SEN' or 'Ever In Care' students is easy, but how do you export ALL their info, including linked documents?
  5. Hi, I have an Intune policy that includes 'Block access to settings App' Include groups - student user groups - 'Year7', 'Year8' etc. Exclude group of - 'IT team' The trouble is whoever I log in as (including someone in the IT Team group) the Settings app is blocked (empty actually). I am wondering if this is actually a setting that once set (by a student logging in) will not revert back for the next person (an IT Team person)? Maybe it's only a device setting..? Any ideas? Thanks
  6. Hi, has anyone found any good companies to buy Sophos AV and ransom from. I am looking at 100% increase on our previous 3 yr quote from Phoenix. Thanks
  7. We are just planning the SIMS to Bromcom migration and have been told by Bromcom that they only import 5 years of student data by default, with other years possible, but for a charge. Legally we are required to keep vulnerable students data until they get to age 25, so that means potentially a student aged 12 comes to school, stays a term then leaves and we need to keep their data for 13 years. - We don't want to import 13 years of crap into Bromcom - Bromcom apparently can't identify and import the data of just those students (SIMS does a good job of identifying and not deleting them them though if you have ever done a data clean) Bromcoms response was most school keep their SIMS server available. For 13 years, unlicensed? Surely not.... Thoughts?
  8. When I open office365 (installed version, not web app) start a doc and 'save as' I can see OneDrive and Sites as possible save location, but Sites only shows 'Frequent', how do I browse to sites (which is actually Teams) that I have never frequented!
  9. Hello, our Office 365 install has suddenly stopped installing with error: This product can't be installed on the selected update channel To install we use a command line to setup and reference our install .xml created from the Office customisation tool. The .xml we use and always have used (below) is for the MonthlyEnterprise update channel and product O365ProPlusRetail which seems correct for our device licensing. I have tried the current channel for testing but same error. We use device based licensing and have done for a year plus. any ideas would be great
  10. Thanks robyholmes, can you please post your redirection paths?
  11. So does that mean if they save to the Music folder in My PC and their profile gets cleaned they lose their work? It’s a shame it can’t at least be removed?
  12. Hello in Win 11 what can I do with the built in profile folders (documents, pictures, videos etc) when using OneDrive (we use the OneDrive sync client). I don’t want them saving anywhere other than OneDrive. I have tried traditional folder redirection GPO (setting an environment variable called ONEDRIVESYNC) and redirecting to ONEDRIVESYNC\Documents but it’s erratic. Should I be using ‘Silently move known folders’ to OneDrive policy but that does not include videos, music or downloads. Not really sure how that would or should work. Any idea would be great. Thanks
  13. Hello, has anyone had any luck setting a custom logon image in Windows 11? This is the background you see around the username/password log in box. FYI We have set: Computer GPO - "Force a specific default lock screen and logon image" pointing it to a jpg on C: Registry key DisableLogonBackgroundImage = 1 Prevent changing lock screen and logon image - Enabled Prevent enabling lock screen camera Enabled - Enabled Prevent enabling lock screen slide show - Enabled We have removed the Lock screen which works OK It just shows a grainy black image - any ideas? Thanks
  14. As we plan to use cloud drive mapper I reckon unless they are “members” the Teams folder will not show up in the mapped drive. I can’t find any definitive info on what ‘receive only replies to you’ means, I feel that’s what they will end up with. If they receive ANY email to the subject group it will cause a problem..
  15. Hello, we need to allow Senior Team access to all subject Teams files. I can add them as members but they will then receive all group e.g. MathTeam@ emails. So, to prevent them receiving emails I know there is a 'Manage Group Email' setting. Question - What is the difference between 'receive only replies to you' and 'don't receive any group messages'. I feel the latter is more appropriate for SLT members who definitely don't want any emails related to a subject, but the former seems to be the only setting you can set using PowerShell (using set-unifiedgroup and removing -subscriber). There are many groups and quite a few SLT, we don't want to do this manually or ask them to do it!
  16. Our school uses static 'computers in classrooms', so staff do not carry their own laptops around. I feel with all our staff movement around different machines (for cover, workrooms, classroom moves etc), combined with some unavoidable profile clean-up so disks don't fill up, the syncing option may not work for us..
  17. Thanks, so what solution did you end up with? I am currently considering Sync (but been put off now really) and Cloud Drive Mapper, but their v2 is poor performance with large files (due to Webdav), and their long promised v3 seems still far away...
  18. we use Office365, errrr so how can users find the Curriculum SharePoint site? Can I not set up a shortcut or something? We looked at Cloud drive Mapper but performance on big files was terrible. Thanks
  19. We are moving Curriculum files to SharePoint. I have a 'landing page' of tiles that point to subject Document Libraries or Teams files. Dragging and dropping new files from a local folder to the SharePoint location is fine, but how do you advise/setup for users to, for example, open Word/Save As.. and save direct to the SP folder?
  20. I think for us this seems the most attractive, so we would create a teamsadmin account (no mailbox), add that as owner of all teams and use that on the odd occasion we need to investigate lost files or something? yes, it was also a fair comment why we need this access at all, we dont really know what questions/tasks will come up.
  21. Our subject departments will start using Teams for files storage and to send emails to department colleagues. IT will need to access all their Teams files, provide support etc, so how do you manage that without being inundated with everyone’s emails? Are IT Owners of the all the Teams and then each Team has all the communications turned off for that IT user, or is there a simpler way? To clarify - staff will be using outlook to send emails to the Team members, so as an IT admin I don’t want to receive those emails..
  22. I can create a group yes. I’ve moved on a bit. - I’ve set new groups to not write back - client group write back v2 is now set as true - only 1 test group is set as write back true But I delete any group in the local AD OU where groups are synced to, run a sync and the group reappears. Something must be misconfigured..
  23. I have an OU in our local AD containing Azure groups that have been written back by the Azure AAD Sync client. The OU contains ALL our groups, but now the v2 AAD connect sync client is released it can sync only groups enabled for write back. Can someone please tell me if it's OK to: Stop the sync Delete all the local AD created groups Set the v2 writeback to enabled Start the sync Then surely the OU will populate with just groups enabled to write back? Assure me I definitely will not be deleting any Azure groups? It's a one way sync..? Thanks
  24. found it..... I added ID - 11540 to kill the entire ‘Review’ tab in Word365
  25. Has anyone found a way to disable Spelling & Grammar from the 'Review' tab in Word365? I dont mind turning off the review tab completely if that's an option. GPO/Reg etc? Thanks
