Hi, I have a setup at the moment that im trying to get working. My setup consists of the following: 5 x Session Hosts 2 x Web Access 2 x Connection Broker 1 x SQL 1 x Gateway I have configured the connection broker HA and this is working using the DNS name that is published locally. For external clients, i have a separate entry for in external DNS for the gateway and have specified this via the collection settings. Internally, users can see the RDP desktop that is there by default and when they click it, the prompt shows the correct gateway server and the correct remote computer address (that matches the published name for webaccess). Internally, the user is logged onto one of the web access servers for some reason and i dont know why? RD CAP and RAP are set correctly and have tried listing the brokers and the session hosts servers

Hi, I have removed a couple of windows updates from a recent deployment and manually removed the update from the computer. But each time the scan cycle is carried out, the update is re-installed. Do i just need to re-run the ADR?

Have you checked your MX record and are DNS settings correct on the external provider? Have you tested the setup using the Microsoft Exchange Connectivity Analyser

Where can i add a regular expression to TMG without a third party utility?

I have got SIMS working in a few schools are support with no issues. These are a mixture of 2012 and 2012 R2. The only quirk I have seen is that SIMS will launch and then disappear, you just have to click on it from the task agar to bring it back into focus. Did you install SIMS onto the session host server/s using the recommended method for application installation?

Lovely, thanks for that

Hi, In a simple setup, we have two session host servers and a connection broker server. There is a DNS round robin setup that internal users hit the DNS name. The users are given a login screen but upon entering the login details and pressing enter, the user is then forced to a login screen of the other server. I presume that this is because the RR has given a certain server, but the connection broker is then forcing to another one as part of its role. Is there a way of stopping the second login or should it be configured a different way?

Anybody done this? If so what did you use in terms of switches? I have tried numerous things i have found on the web but they are not working

From what i was reading, you cannot deploy software to users because of this but you can deploy to the device. This is providing that it is approved within the console?

Hi, Has anybody successfully implemented internet client based management through SCCM 2012? I have a number of devices that will not be connected to the domain but will require certain applications deploying. We have SCCM 2012 in place so thought we could install the client using a FQDN address for the management point and then push the software out?

Have a look at this website for a start. Its based on Server 2008, but it will give you something to work from. RDS Hardware Sizing and Capacity Planning Guidance. - Virtually Yours.. - Site Home - TechNet Blogs

When you say setup to use broker, you mean just the initial configuration of the session collection. No other configuration required somewhere

So on the thin client machines you would point them at the DNS name that i create for the servers. Would this not bypass the broker?

Hi all, Just need to query something regarding 2012 RDS farms and thin client devices. I have create a new session collection in my RDS environment and added two session host servers. These are appearing in the properties for the collection under load balancing. I have one session host server to use but what address would the thin client machines use to connect to the farm and where is it setup? Do i need to create DNS entries for the farm name with each IP of the session host servers? But would this not bypass the session broker?

Window 2012 R2 RDS, has anyone got it working?

Have you installed a rdgateway? I had a similar issue because the computer name I was connecting to was an internal server name, so you have to change into the published URL name if you want it to work externally. Take a look at the below link as this fixed my issue. TechNet Change published FQDN for Server 2012 or 2012 R2 RDS Deployment -
You are correct that the rd web access page uses port 443 but unless you introduce an rd gateway, the communication to the terminal server will be over port 3389. If you have the ability to! I would thoroughly recommend installing a Server 2012 environment. There has been many changes with the release of 2012 and the install process has been made easier, as well as the performance of the terminal servers

Found it. You have to edit the attributes of the user in AD. I have added the email address i wish to add to the ProxyAddress attribute in AD

Hi, The headteacher at a school i support wishes to retain her old email address, which was [email protected]. She has her new account on Office365, which uses the [email protected]. I want to add the alias to her account for Headteacher but i get and error when trying to save - "The operation on mailbox failed becuase its out of the current users write scope."

Hi, I have a Server 2012 RDS setup and i need all users that log into the server, to get the pre-defined start screen that i setup. I have followed this article Customising Start Screen, but the new users never get it when they first login. The users seem to get a random set of icons from somewhere. I have tried different things but all seem to fail. the only way i can get it to apply is if i copy the file manually to their local appdata once they have logged off, then log back on. Has anybody succeeded at setting this up?

Hi, I have a site that require students to use their laptops in school and at home. At the moment, these students have redirected documents etc. and appdata to a file server along with desktop. The start menu is local to the machine and the school wish for students to be able to save locally to the laptop when at home. They can log on using the cached credentials and i can stop the redirection but not sure how to give the local save location. Have thought about a custom library after using local appdata?

Hi, I have a number of different protection groups that are currently protected via disk based backups. I now trying to re-introduce my tape drive after being repaired. The majority of protection groups are ok and backups are being written to tape, but some protection groups are crashing the console when i try to modify. The point in which the modification crashes each time is when i select the tape library and i receive Event ID 999. I tried restarting the server and services but still receive the same error. Anybody have any ideas?

I think you will find that the MiFare cards from SALTO are slightly more expensive that some on the market but they are of a better quality and are sure to work with all MiFare products. In essence, you get waht you pay for.

thats the one. Its actually faster than i thought. Only thing is there is a little playing to do with the task sequence and programs but well worth it

You can find many distributors that do the SALTO locks. The company itself is based in Spain and use distributors. I use one in Birmingham that give me very competitive prices. PM me if you want details
