Yes, they do takes some damage but that depends on the room they are in but they always last a full 5 years. May have changed now and I know HP have deal registrations too but they operate in a fairer way with suppliers. Also, Dell introduced a vent on the top of some models which lead to student poking 'stuff' into the PCs.

Sounds exactly like my school. It used to be 'okay' when they were departmental laptops but since COVID they went as a bookable shared resource across school and we now have many missing and damaged. We have tried all the above and it just doesn't work unless someone has ownership and takes control of the trolleys.

We have an active ticket open with Senso regarding slow thumbnail updating issues. Only yesterday did I stumble across this post after we also discovered the curser over buttons trick as @mrbios also noted. We have added all the URLs and IP address to exclude from SSL inspection and authentication on our firewall/filter. We have also added the 'Pre-Load' thumbnails policy which does make them load faster on first load but does nothing for the issue when you scroll down. We have added the WebRTC settings as a GPO to all our devices. Has anyone got a solution to this yet other that wiggling you mouse to make the thumbs load?

You are very lucky to work in an environment where the kids are good and do have some respect for the equipment. We are lucky if a day goes by without some kind of damage. Mice don't live long here. I'm fighting a losing battle at the moment so sorry if I am a big negative.

Hi, I'm trying to product a report (csv) from SIMS for Unifrog. I have all the required fields now but one field I cannot automatically populate so wondering if such a field actually exists in SIMS. Unifrog require a field to be populated with the Leaving Year of the student so for example a Year 9 student will leave in Year 11 and the required Leaving Date field would be '2026' for Unifrog. I can see many Leaving Date fields in the reports but these usually relate to if the student has actually left the school. I have previously calculated this field using excel formula to manipulate the leaving date from their email address as this has the two digit leaving year in but ideally I would like the Careers staff to be able to run this report as and when and upload to Unifrog without having to involve IT Support. After speaking to Papercut Support is appears that although I have set the card reader to output in decimal the Ricoh copier is ASCII encoding that (adding 3's) and then passing it to Papercut so: 1. Log in to the PaperCut MF Admin web interface. 2. Navigate to Devices. 3. Select the required device. 4. Click Advanced Config 5. Search for "ext-device.card-no-converter" it may be set to "GLOBAL" 6. Switch "GLOBAL" to "ascii-enc" then click "update all" 7. Test it to see if ll the 3s get removed Works like a treat! Allan

Hi, they are ELATEC TWN4 and we use Mifare. I have reprogrammed the readers to produce the correct digital number from the device matching the ones stored in the primary CardID in Papercut. This matches the old readers output and the old readers go wrong on the new copiers too. I made a mistake on the first post but the number from the card when scanned on the reader is 937675940 and papercut sees it as 393337363735393430 which is useless as our door readers can't fathom that one out despite various conversions I have tried. Thanks for your reply - no we don't have anything in those settings although I was thinking of somehow using those somehow to get the number back to how it should be. * EDIT - Apologies, I did have something in one of those for testing to try and fix it but removing it still produces the wrong number.

Hi, We have just put in new Ricoh copiers with new card readers and they are not giving the same numbers as stored in Papercut which means that all users will have to re-associate their badges but we also use that number from Papercut to import into the door access systems and of course the new number doesn't relate to the door readers even after running conversions by reversing bits and/or decimal to Hex. I have reprogrammed the card readers and they new put out the correct number when testing in a notepad - this number matches the number in Papercut and the number produced by the old card readers but Papercut is not having it. For example - card reader output to text field as testing is: 937675940 and this matched the number stored in the primary id in Papercut but somewhere the number gets mangled and Papercut sees it as Unknown Card/ID number entered on external device. Card/ID No: 1055154890231841895472 which bears no resemblance to the one coming from the reader. I have a script that can convert Hex to Decimal and also reverse the Bits but this number does not compute. Out of interest I have tried the old card reader on the new copier and it produces the same incorrect number so it must be something to do with the Ricoh copier mangling the number? I have also plugged in the old Sharp copiers and they are still working. Can anyone shed any light on this? Many thanks Allan

I agree - we also had a single APC fail a couple of weeks ago on the main cabinet and everything was dead without warning.

Can't think of anything to protect existing screens but we invested in glass fronted screens from iiyama and hanns-g which have proved to stop any damage in first place.

Fill them with rubbish Keyboards/Mice disappear Wires become dangly and then 'just fall out' or are snapped so you constantly have to replace mice/keyboards.

Our experience is the same... They get damaged too easily and are prone to abuse and vandalism. Don't do it I was told by another college when we put them in but I had no choice and have suffered ever since. We just removed them this summer to my delight

We replaced a smashed screen with a 'generic' one off eBay. £39.00. Problem is that it had brackets top and bottom. Only the ones at the top got in the way so I cut them off and screen worked fine. We had a GeoBook in yesterday with screen failed. Once opening it up the connector was not on properly due to the odd way the connector was glued on which caused it to disconnect so this one was repairable.

Was able to PXE boot both models 109 and 114 using startech USB network adapter. Can't remember exact settings in BIOS but after fiddling around it worked. Had to turn off PXE http and set a few other settings.

@LeMarchand - Youtube is blocked on the DfE devices.

Hacking the brackets off one I bought on eBay this morning is my option too.
