  1. I agree but that is beyond my control
  2. Hi, We have an issue on the two Dell PC models above in that the students have discovered if short out the USB ports it kills the PC until you pull the power cable for 1 minute to reset the PSU. We don't seem to have this issue on other models around school so just wondering if anybody else has this issue and any recommendations to stop this problem that only seems to be on the Dell SFF 3020's and 3040's Many thanks
  3. have a look in My Drive -> My Folders and see if they are in there as it might just be the email function not working. You have to make yourself a teacher to see the My Drive menu item.
  4. Found it now - I was looking in the Admin section.
  5. Cant even find where to request the user activity report? where is it? thanks,
  6. Does anyone know of the 'Smart Links' or how to generate them for Google SSO. I mean, if I send a user to mail.google.com/a/domainname then it redirects to ADFS (on site) and auto logs the user in then sends them to back to Gmail? I want to send them just to the Google search page or maybe the G Suite home page not just gmail. I already do this on office 365 and land them on the Office 365 portal page automatically. https://adfs.domain.co.uk/adfs/ls/?lc=2057&wa=wsignin1.0&wtrealm=urn%3afederation%3aMicrosoftOnline works really well but how about google?
  7. Got this in one of my emails when dealing with other issues.... "We have introduced a new feature on Show My Homework that will allow you to delete ‘Leavers’ from the admin panel. To take this action, simply click here when logged into your account. Use the checkboxes on the left to select the users you wish to remove, then click “Delete selected” in the top left to complete the action. Please be careful when deleting users as this action cannot be undone. For the user to appear in the ‘Leavers’ section in Show My Homework you will need to ensure a contract end date has been entered for them in your MIS system. This will stop Show My Homework from receiving data from these users and they will then appear in the ‘Leavers’ section of your account."
  8. I was doing that but actually found it easier to speak to the parents myself and work through the issues. Plus - support phone number (0207 197 9550) disapeared from Show My Homework page so they are discouraging parents and students to contact them by phone - email option only.
  9. So I have been strugling with Show My Homework for quite some time now since launch in school before summer. We are AD integrated because I thought it would make things easier but I was so wrong. Why? Well it was pain to initailly set up with no support from Show My Homework what so ever. I asked if they had a guide to assist setting up their AD integration solution and their response was 'Thank you for getting back to me. Apologies, AD is not our product so we don’t have a user guide for it. A quick look on google returned this result which you may have find helpful? Microsoft Support I hope this helps, but please do let me know if you have any further queries at all' - turned out they had input the LDAP bind password incorrectly so it was never going to work! In order to use Show My Homework with so called 'Single Sign-On' students must go to a specific URL and despite telling all the students to follow the link on our Website/VLE many still Google 'Show My Homework' because thats what kids do and will fail to login as it's not the right URL. Student emails have to be imported via CSV by Show My Homework and this is the link to AD so without it students/staff can't login. If you don't click login straight away from the special URL there is a possiblility that the user will be directed away from your specific Sub-Domain and then go round in circles trying to login on the default login page. I have worked through these and many more issues that have been mentioned on here but one I just couldn't understand until finally a breakthrough - Single Sign-On doesn't work with Microsoft Edge. Well thats all students/parents and staff with new computers/laptops out... yes, I know you can use a different browser or even Internet Explorer on Windows 10 - but how many parents/students and staff know how to do that? They click on the 'internet thinging' and follow the special URL on the website and click login and you get the Ooopps Error that offers a link back to the login page - but not your login page, the default login page which does actually load. The students and staff are now at a point where they have followed your instructions to go to the special URL via the Website/VLE but have now landed on the default login page and go round and round in circles and simply cannot login. Why - because Microsoft Edge doesnt work with Single Sign-On but the user is not aware of this at all as there is no specific error informing the user of this. We test the user login on site with them (Window 7 and IE) and it all works so send them away and ask them to try again but now at least I can advise not to use Microsoft Edge and show them how to use IE on Windows 10 Not one single day has gone by where we have at least one student (usually more) come to IT Support stating they can't login to Show My Homework since we started using it - except during summer holidays! We started installing/using in April/May - we almost know what the students are going to say when they come to IT Support. To add to this we also now have to deal with parents via phone and email because of Show My Homework....
  10. I have just downloaded Version 12 of the drivers and installed over the top of the others and can confirm that the issue is fixed - just don't know what other issues this might present! You've got to love Smart software!!!
  11. We use MDT to roll it out but it is the 'Education Software 2013' with drivers and notebook. Do you then install newer drivers over the top? Smart told me they don't recommend installing the newer drivers with 11.4 notebook. I'm willing to give it a go though!
  12. Thanks very much - been having this problem for a while now and couldn't work it out GPO Location is Group Policy location: User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Microsoft Excel 2013\Miscellaneous\Block all unmanaged add-ins - Enabled Yes
  13. hmm.. that's how we used to have it but thought the filescreen was a fix until you pointed out the problem with slow logins. Looks like we will have to go back to that method if i can't find something else. btw - login times now from over a minute to 20 seconds. thanks
  14. Did you find another solution to the desktop.ini other that screen filter?
  15. thanks for finding this. I have been experiencing slow logins for some time now - well since I setup the screen filter that is!
  16. I too noticed this and thought it was something I was doing wrong. I point youtube.com to our channel http://www.youtube.com/user//videos (where is your school account. They can view the clips to the right as you say but not the playlist links!
  17. You need to stick this in your squid.conf config to stop https traffic to youtube.com as dansguardian doesn't seem to apply the urlregexplist to https traffic. Thanks for finding the regexpression driver and thanks to tom for pointing out the loophole on secure port
  18. Thanks very much for this. Working in minutes thanks to your regexplist
  19. Excellent response
  20. I think you have answered your own question - The security risk is about staff leaving their workstations logged in and going walkabouts. I would be seriously worried about anybody leaving their workstation unattended with access to the network and email, let alone SIMS
