It would have been nice of them to update the game engine from Gamebryo, given that they first used that in TES3: Morrowind in 2002. Seriously, I can't believe that trailer has been released in the same year as Witcher 3. It looks like a 360 title still. I know I'm being a graphics whore, but half the fun in open world games for me is climbing to some ridiculous location just to look at the pretty.

We have CamStudio just running from a share on a file server... been a few years, though, so maybe we're just lucky to have a non-rubbish version.

I'm really not sure what this is meant to achieve. Becoming an academy isn't a magic bullet, and you could change management in a failing school without academising. Just another angle to chip away at the LEAs, I guess. They obviously want education decentralised, for whatever reason.

You've gotta speculate to accumulate and spending a couple million on a salvage destroyer + fittings will make you back far more ISK than you ever spend on it, I promise. Missions only exist to create scrap metal, salvaging is the real game

That was it. Too long since I've flown! Being subscribed to this thread is not helping my conviction that I Don't Have Time and There's So Many Other Games Still. A million ISK is change in EVE terms. If you've not got that, you've got problems, especially if you had enough to buy a Navy Issue ship I never once bought one in what, three or more years of flying, cos you should never fly anything you can't afford to lose. And if you're so afraid to use it it never leaves the station, what's the point in having it FRAPS a clip of it spinning in station and save that for when you come over all misty-eyed, and reinvest the money in stuff that'll be useful and let you have more fun, I reckon.

Salvage is where all the money is. Do a mission, bookmark one of the wrecks, come back in a destroyer with salvager mods fitted in all 8 highs and cargo expansion in all the low slots, reap it all and sell for much ISK. You make about 10x more out of missions with salvage than you do without (at least, you did five years ago...) You have to do it within two hours, I think, before the instance is destroyed, but that's plenty of time. Bookmark each stage of a multi-stage mission if necessary.

But I suppose it's one of those things that just needs a bit of suspension of disbelief on my part, because switching actors would have been confusing to everyone who wasn't a LotR nerd I thought the LotR films were staggering works of genius, and the Hobbit films were bloated works of money making. Enjoyable enough, but unlike LotR where I wanted the Extended Editions for more film, with the Hobbits I want it editing down into a single 3-4 hour film. I think someone's already made a first stab at just that, in fact.

The Casios have keystoning--I wouldn't buy a projector that didn't--but it's just vertical keystoning to offset height difference (e.g. ceiling mount). I don't think they can keystone horizontally if your mount isn't centred on the screen; I think that's what you meant?

I'm sure he mentions his age at some point in the LotR films, in conversation at Rivendell. The actual error is that the One Ring is meant to stop Bilbo aging, so at the start of Fellowship when he celebrates his eleventy-first birthday, he's meant to look the same as he did 60 years before when he first obtained the Ring, when he was the Hobbit equivalent of 20-something (33 is their coming of age, equivalent to 18, so 51 is probably mid-to-late twenties). So it should have been Martin Freeman playing Bilbo in the original films, until he gives the ring up at least. Always bugged me, that.

The maths on the Casio models has changed with the XJ-V1 Core model, which is only £430. It also, at long last, uses M4 mounting holes, and even better actually has 4 of them so you can choose which three of the four you'll use. They're brilliantly bright @ 2700 lumens and I am just adding up how many of them I'm going to buy, having put one up over the half term to test. Still a silly power connector instead of a normal kettle lead, but other than that they're the holy grail of data projectors.

Cos it means you got the bugger, and once the rest of your corp warp to you they're a goner scanning out someone in your interceptor, with the rest of the fleet waiting on your success, warping to a spot and realising they're there and getting that point on them... A warp disruptor puts 1 point of scramble on you at 20km, a warp scrambler puts 2 points on you at 7.5km. So one stabiliser would protect you from a disruptor, but not a scrambler. Point! Always the most exciting word to shout in fleet ops.

I've not looked at 10GbE switches too much yet (need to upgrade a load of fibre next summer first) but 2 ports are tripling the price, and that's before you buy the SFPs at around £300. So the prices are probably reasonable in context of other 10GbE switches, I don't know yet, but they're intimidating in context of 1GbE switches. Hopefully the next two to three years will see it fall to a smaller premium, though, it seems like we should be near that tipping point.

I knew someone would have the answer and save me looking it up the MSI 960 does the same and is <£160 at eBuyer (and is overclocked about 10% as well), or the Gigabyte 960 is £160 at Scan if you prefer to buy there (or £163 at Amazon) I would say that going below that card loses you a lot of performance for not a lot of saving; GPUs have to really cut corners to hit a £100 price mark. £150 is usually about the price point where you start getting good value (not just cheap) GPUs. Better to invest a bit more now and be set for a few years.

Bear in mind that big fans are quieter than smaller fans, as they shift more air and so don't need to spin as fast. This is why rack mounted servers sound so 'orrible. The 900 series nVidia cards are very power-efficient, therefore produce less heat, therefore require less cooling. The Asus Strix cards, for example, shut the fan off altogether when you're only at the desktop, because the chip is so cool. The fans only spin up in games. That card is £170 so starting to push the budget a lot, but I reckon some other manufacturers have done a similar trick, I just can't remember them off the top of my head.

Last Stand was an X-Men music video in terms of plot depth. Major characters killed off anti-climactically, new characters introduced with almost zero backstory, the whole rich Dark Phoenix storyline condensed down to Jean Grey standing around looking moody. 1 & 2 were utterly brilliant, more or less created the superhero movie as we have it today, yet 3 was forgettable and bland to me. The two new ones have been much better again. Xavier & Magneto have been brilliant in them. Edit to add: I just wanted to confirm that Mad Max: Fury Road is a work of mad genius and I absolutely bloody loved it and I am sad that more movies are not like this one.
