There is software called Re-Dact which is fairly decent for doing it, it definitely does files that have actual words in, so PDFs, word documents etc. Haven't tried it with the other stuff as it isn't used by myself but the data management person. They have a free trial as well.

The over-75s license fee was just a stitch up by the government, agree this new funding deal where you can now charge people for using just iPlayer (which the tories bang on about increased funding), while at the same time forcing a cost which is 25% of the BBCs income onto them. The government wanted to do it, but didn't want to be blamed and lose the grey vote, so they forced someone else to do the dirty work. Can't they basically sack everyone paid over 100k and still lose 20% of there income if they maintained the free TV Licenses, it's nothing to do with the pay of celebs or what not. Maybe when Sajid "the turncoat" Javid shakes his money tree next week they'll magically fund some licenses for people and buy some votes. It's basically just a game of guess when the next general election will be, how many votes can you buy before it.

I give up, clearly this is a pointless internet argument. I have said multiple times they'd have all the information that you keep highlighting. There is an obsession with a random police officer turning up demanding things. I have repeatedly said that shouldn't happen. They should be coming prepared with all the documentation they should require to prove they need what they need, enough to satisfy your DPO they have a lawful reason for the information. If your DPO isn't happen then send them away to get a magistrate to authorise it. You have repeatedly ignored this. You have mentioned subpeonas which are a US thing, they don't exist in the UK. Production Orders are Crown Court judges, not even magistrates. The seriousness of these requests is going up and up. We'll be needing a Law Lord soon. Enjoy the world where you want Crown Court Judges to request information from everywhere because people are scared of GDPR. I provided the justification, I clarified multiple times that they should have all the information with them to satisfy your DPO. The only response from anyone is that you will refuse no matter what they bring, unless it is a warrant to seize the information or an order to force you to provide the information.

I think, you have very limited understanding of the process from the other side. The fact that it is due in court, means it won't be the police requesting it will be the CPS. There is a difference. If the CPS has requested the records, they will ask the police to collect them on their behalf. They will also provide the reasons as to why they want them. Noone is advocating handing over records without any checks being put in place, and recorded as to why it was or wasn't complied with. The request for the information should be treated like any other, you should have a form to fill, they should give you the reason why they need it. I would expect for this type of thing, they will even tell you which part of GDPR they believe you should release it under, if it is a request from the CPS. You use that as proof of due diligence if the ICO come after you. If they can't provide the information then send them away to get it all. A formal request for information is not necessarily a court document. Why is everyone obsessed that we have to get a magistrate (who is just a layman) to say yes thats fine to make it formal. If someone makes a SAR, thats a formal document, FOI requests are as well. Get your documentation sorted, often very lacking within schools, or if it does exist theres a mass panic when one is filled, it's like a hot potato. You have the necessary evidence to show due diligence if you release the information. You are naturally ofcourse all allowed to disagree with me. Everyone knows that the law can be interepted in multiple ways, even if it is written with the aim for it not to be. I think there is a public task element, but I may have a more indepth experience as to the approach from the other side, I am also well aware that you will get police officers with no knowledge of why they have been asked to do something simply asking for things because they have been told to, if you tell them they need to provide these things before it can be released, then they'll often go and do that and come back with what you need. But if you the approach taken by every organisation is that they want a court order for something that falls under a seperate area of the law then all that is going to happen is the courts will be filled with requests for warrants/ orders. Warrant are for essentially getting things against the person/ organisations wishes, the very fact school staff believe the police have no other means to access information except by being able to force a school to hand it over is a little absurd.

Prosecutions are only brought on the basis of it being in the public interest to do so, so the CPS has decided this is within the public interest already. They've asked through the police, as the CPS set them tasks often, to get the school report and behaviour records. They haven't just rocked up and asking about random students. They'll be able to provide court references, crime references etc so the appropiate forms can be filled and the data provided. If you want to argue that the CPS can't decide what is in the public interest then who does? Do you decide that it isn't in the public interest in your person opinion? You could probably argue that you also have a legitimate interest to share the information, depending on exactly what has happened, as that student attends you school, who may well not do depending on the outcome of the case, however, this might be a little far-fetched.

They just need a lawful basis for the information, you should have a form they can fill in to request it. Then someone can judge whether or not they believe you should comply or not. If for example a student has been repeatedly doing something in school, but has now done it on the street then it might show a pattern of behaviour that a court should rightly consider. So they have a lawful reason. I wouldn't think they should need a full school report unless they are considering the character of the student for some reason.

We had an electronic waste bin at my old jsut that they provided, just use to ring up when it was getting near full and they would swap it out. Had to padlock it though, they said to stop people robbing from it. I personally think it was to stop other staff chucking random rubbish in it.

From my communications with Sophos, which isn't always great. They don't seem to think computer syncing will be added anytime soon.

We have server licenses seperate. Yeah you can have multiple domains, machines on no domain etc. iPhones, iPads annyoingly won't charge or connect unless they are allowed as a peripheral due to how they advertise themselves. That might not be a problem for you.

I just wish the AD sync tool they have could put the PCs in as well so ones without AV were easy to identify incase the automatic install failed for any reason. Then I would be much happier, I work in none education environment though with multiple offices etc where these extras would be better. It's made our standalone laptops much better to sort out though, as we can see they are reporting back as oppose to the enterprise console where it wasn't really possible.

The issue we, well maybe just me, have with Sophos is that it is more difficult to guarantee the AV goes on, or is reported if not. For example on the Enterprise Console, the computers sync from AD, so computer with no AV and you know. Sophos Central, a computer can get imaged, AV could not go on for whatever reason, and there is no built in way of reporting that. We are looking at writing somethign to compare AD lists of PCs to of Sophos Central ones to get around the issue. However, PCs able to isolate themselves etc is good.

RRP is just a made up number though, manufacturers can make up their own RRP and then everyone sells it cheaper...

They pre-wire they quite a lot now as others have said. We have cases in other new build where Openreach is already wired into the houses we have built (Housing Association), we try to use Openreach to stop the sole contractor issues some places get. We don't put Virgin in though which is interesting, maybe we should be. I like to think the faceplates aren't wonky as well but there is no way I would ever vouch for that!

I think the OP has fallen into the common trap of the way the English housing market works, in Scotland for example it is vastly different. He has found a house he really wants, even though it isn't everything he actually needs, and as a result he is willing to "lose" more to get it. As oppose to selling his home, then finding another one, which is the way it is kinda setup to work (although this is also a nightmare and leads to long chains and long lead times!). Data recovery of defective memory cards (SD, SDHC, Micro SD, CF), USB sticks, SSD if no software helps are the best company I've found and used (not cheap) for memory cards, they only flash memory though, so no spinning disks as far as I am aware. I've seen them get data from completely dead cards that don't appear in device manager and everything. It's also free if they can't get anything off them.

But it doesn't need a garage does it? As you are already talking about getting rid of it for a dining room, because it doesn't have a dining room. You don't mention a utility, so I assume you will use the garage for this, so that's one room doing 3 functions already. Therefore it doesn't meet your must have list... The rest of your list is whatever you want, 3 double bedrooms in a modern house often means a room that fits just a double bed in nowadays sadly. Buy a 3/4 bed, small wardrobe etc to make the houses look bigger, but that's your personal preference. 3 toilets is again a modern thing, they inevitably end up boxy rooms, but its personal preference, much like period versus modern etc, your personal preference.

I wouldn't get their integrated appliances, they'll charge loads for cheap appliances, save up and get your own. I am in agreement with the above though, buying an old house and thinking, I can extend this later if needed is one thing. Buying a new build that is already the wrong size seems crazy.

Also if you are buying what is essentially an empty chain free home, and you are selling what is a first time buyer home then why not just sell your house?

Also don't buy a new build if you might be moving in a couple of years again as you'll lose money. Seriously though, check every item you will be getting. For example a cooker is a cooker, but they'll give you the cheapest possible. Check any charges (leasehold, communal charges), have the roads been adopted or will they ever be? Don't use their recommend solicitor, use your own.
