  1. With a reboot, it got a bit further: " The file SIMSCentralServerSetup 1.586.23.0 to 1.588.23.0 Upgrade.EXE was not downloaded correctly. The web server gave the following error The operation has timed out. " I don't think the web server Capita are running is up to it.
  2. Hi all. Getting a big problem with the Autumn 2010 release for SIMS. SOLUS downloads the update to about 40% across the progress bar, then stops dead. After about 2mins it throw up this error: " The file SIMSCentralServerSetup 1.580.11.0 to 1.582.19.0 Upgrade.EXE was not downloaded correctly. The web server gave the following error The operation has timed out. " I've tried three times. I never tick the box in SOLUS that says apply updates after downloading, but when I click on "Close" on the error box it says the download is complete. If I had ticked that box, I think my update would be in a half finished state. Badness. I have looked at the Setups folder, and compared it to the file list for the update. there are a lot of missing files, including the SIMSCentralServerSetup.exe
  3. I've just got v6.0.4262 on a CD ISO and have booted it on the Thin Client. I chose the install option, and it comes up with the error: "Ditribution not found TCMR003" How do you do the install to the internal flash memory of your thin clients? What method do you use?
  4. I'm not usually inclined to go nuts on a forum, but: :DYAYAYAYAYAYYAYAYAYYAYAYAYAYA!!!!!!! I will post back when I have tried it out. Thank you thank you thank you!
  5. We have 9 CC4 terminal servers, all licenced. The only advantage is package assignment. The disadvantage is that RM don't provide any disaster recovery for Terminal Servers, i.e. you can't just shove a build CD into it. And of course you can't image it as restoring from an image is not supported by a CC4 workstation, which is essentially what a CC4 TS is. If you are going to have just one TS, then I would stay native. RM Service Host will only slow the TS down, and quite a bit I might add, just as it does on a desktop PC.
  6. We are currently using S2ST0090 Rev. a, but we have used two or three previous versions and experienced the same problem. Do you know which version does not cause this problem. I am willing to give it a blast.
  7. Hello thar: We are a Secondary School and have over 200 HP t5135 thin clients across three sites. We have them set to "Auto" and "Persist" an RDP connection to a local Server 2003 Terminal Server, local to each site that is. This means that it boots up, logs into it's own HP ThinConnect OS as "user", then connects an RDP session to a Terminal Server, presenting the login box. After every weekend, anything up to about 15 t5135 thin clients are frozen:(. The only way to restore them is to get to them with a USB Flash drive with a good image generated from another thin client. They freeze in varying states, but the common factor is that most will not boot if you power them off and on again. This is a completely unacceptable rate of failure, and we are sorely dissappointed with the product on three counts, I don't recommend them, steer WELL clear: It freezes:eek: There is no tamper free Kiosk mode (We don't want the little darlings to be able to see the DNS and IP info for the thin client, we just want a big fat connect button and _nothing_ else.) You can't shut them down remotely (with over 200 across 3 sites this is a lot of electricity) The freeze appears to be related to the fact that terminal services boots you off an RDP session that you don't log in to, after about 1 minute. The Auto feature reconnects you, but after it has done this a few hundred or thousand times, the thin client slows down, then freezes. It is, at an educated guess, symptomatic of a memory leak, either in the application that lauches rdesktop, or rdesktop itself. I doubt the latter as I think that a new rdesktop process is spawned after each disconnect. Is there anyone out there who can suggest a fix, or an easy to configure, compatible alternative OS that will install from a USB boot? Any help with anything would be greatly appreciated.
  8. I have tried manually, after logging in, to do net use g: /delete and to try and right click to disconnect. Neither works. I get: "The network connection could not be found" in an error box. In reply to the question about apps$, we have not had any problems with using a hidden share. All it does is not advertise it's existance. If it is specified by name, then it works fine.
  9. I'm getting problems with drive mappings and Solus 3. Initially I set up Solus 3 's configuration drive mappings like this: Sims Drive: G Sims UNC Path: \\simsserver\apps$ Sims Setups Drive: G Sims Setups UNC Path: \\simsserver\apps$\sims\setups Our G: drive is mapped with a GPO driven login script: Set gObj = Wscript.CreateObject("WScript.Network") gObj.MapNetworkDrive "g:", "\\simsserver\apps$" When the Solus 3 service is running on the local machine, and the user logs out, the G drive is left in a "half open" state. When the user logs back in, they get a wsh script error saying the G drive cannot be mapped, because the drive letter is in use. When I go into My Computer, the G drive is there, but is listed as: "Disconnected Network Drive G:" I returned to the Solus 3 Phase 1 manual. It appears that you are supposed to have two different drive mappings, one for Setups and one for Sims. I have now set up both as separate drive mappings and updated the configuration in the SIMS Remote Agent Installer. I now have Z: for Setups and G: for Sims. I removed the agent from the PC, then reinstalled it. Now i get the failed drive mappings for both, with both drive letters blocked by drives with "Disconnected Network Drive"
