  1. Would a veracrypt container not work for this sort of thing? I know it's far from ideal but it would allow you to put encrypt the folders in question. As long as the Veracrypt app is installed on the machine the container would be accessible.
  2. Can't edit previous post, Vacancy is now listed on the School Vacancies page. Thanks
  3. Do you have the application form for this job? The school vacancies page doesn't have the vacancy listed. Thanks
  4. Cheers eddyc I'll look into that when I'm back on site. One thing I did notice now that you mention 2 NIC's, the server does have 2 physical NIC's however one of them doesn't appear to be working and there is a Virtuial NIC installed. When I tried to set an IPv4 address on the 2nd NIC it told me that a network card had to be installed. Like I said the whole system is a mess. There is ZERO structure to the network, no naming convention to speak of. There are a dozen empty OU's all in the root of the Domain. Checking GP showed me similar issues with duplicated empty GPO's. I nearly vomited when I saw the state of the domain.
  5. Hi guys Been asked to help reconnect some devices in an office that had been moved from one floor in the building to another. These devices are part of a mini network and connect to the internet through a shared Internet connection for the entire building. Obviously they are getting DHCP addresses from the building's DHCP Server be that an actual server or a router, I'm not sure, but there was an issue with some of the machines not being able to see the DC once everything had beren reconnected. In all honesty, it's a mess. I'm going back in a few weeks to flatten the whole thing and start again. I was thinking of setting up DHCP on the DC but then realised I wouldn't be able to becuase of the uplink to the building. I don't want random clients getting a DHCP address from the DC. I'd rather not statically assign addresses if I can help it but not sure I have much of a choice. Anyone come across similar issues? As far as I can tell they do not have Managed Switches so VLAN's are out of the question. They are running VOIP system but I'm not sure how this is configured. I was only asked as their usual go to guy was unavailable.

  7. This game may be early access but it is far and away one of the best Early Access titles I have played thus far. I picked it up during it's third week of release and I haven't been able to stop playing it. The saturday after I purchased it I spent 8 hours straight playing it. It's a Battle Royale game which places all players regardless of level on the sane starting point in the game. You are all required to skydive from a plane above a remote island and find whatever you can to survive. Items are randomly placed on the island, be it in houses or huts and every so often there will be an air drop which contains rare weapons. The play area starts with the whole island being a viable place to start, after a few minutes a white circle is drawn on the map. This is now the play area, you are then given 5 minutes to reach this circle if you are outside of it, after which a blue energy barrier starts to restrict the play field size. If you are outside of this barrier you WILL start to suffer damage, albeit very slowly. The play area shrinks more and more over time until the area you are fighting in fits inside a single grid reference on the map. Throughout the game "Red Zones" are introduced and these sections are peppered with Mortars for around 30 seconds to 1 minute. DO NOT be out in the open during this time if you happen to be caught ion one of these zones. The game can be played solo, as part of a duo or as part of a "squad" with up to 4 players. Duo's and above feature a revive system where your downed teammate can be revived by you before they bleed out. If all your teammates are dead and you get downed you are instantly killed off as no one is available to help you. The default camera is 3rd Person over the shoulder however you can switch to first person whenever you want. The game is not without it's flaws but it has only been out around 5 weeks. The jumping mechanics need tweaking and at the moment if you get out of any moving vehicle you are hurt quite considerably. The car doesn't even need to be moving overly quickly. The devs have promised to deliver weekly and monthly updates. Well worth picking up!! Some screens attached
  8. The BBFC is a waste of money. If it has to exist it should exist as a free service. Studio's should not have to pay to have their film classified.
  9. That ended really creepily for me. This is the problem wiiith AR and implants How far can things go until reality and virtual reality are indistinguishable?
  10. How did you find this video??
  11. I was thinking the same thing. That is one WEIRD looking poodle!!!
  12. This is what I have been waiting for. Makes organising group trips a lot easier!
  13. I just died inside a little. Shaq did this as a joke (I'm sure because he is actually quite intelligent) however, have any of you read the comments on the link to the podcast? If not I highly suggest you don't as you will instantly feel less intelligent. "Dwayne" from the comments wins the award for biggest Troll/Least intelligent person ever.
  14. I love this!! Just what I need after a very boring a looooong day.
  15. Well this is now moot I have managed to talk the powers that be into either a Virtual solution or Windows Laptops. thanks for the suggestions though.
  16. thats's an interesting approach. Is it using this tool RemoteApp Tool - Kim Knight Would you mind sharing your setup procedure?
  17. Tongue in cheek title there. I assume that the answer will be the same as it always has been (VM or RDP) but what is the best way to run SIMS on a Macbook? I have a school who have a few teachers who would rather use a macbook as their preferred machine. As you can imagine this is causing a small headache for SIMS access. Anyone have any suggestions? Cheers
  18. Love it! Made me smile this morning
  19. Thought I'd seen this before '7D' Whale Hologram : snopes.com "The video was originally created by a company called "Magic Leap" in order to demonstrate the potential capabilities of their technology. While the Magic Leap device is still shrouded in mystery, several articles written about the device explain that it's a wearable device which deals in "mixed reality," layering unreal, virtual objects over real, tangible ones."
  20. Thanks, Im not on site again now until Monday afternoon so wil take a look then.
  21. Thanks for your help. Already using the latest driver from Riso.
  22. Hello Peeps Got an odd issue that is driving me insane. I can't pin down the source of the problem and unfortunately it never happens when I am on site. I return to the school in question to find that the issue has appeared again. The school are running 2 RISO ComColor 7050 MFD's. Each are installed localy on the Teacher machines. The machines in question are running Windows 10 Enterprise x64. The teacher's are reporting that the print queue is getting blocked and nothing will print from the machine. When I look at the print queue on the machine there is a stuck job that appears to have been created by SYSTEM. The only way to clear this from the queue is to restart in safe mode and delete the contents of the C:\windows\system32\spool\printers folder as the local admin account. Obviously this is not ideal and I need to work out what is causing it. Had a look in the readme file for the driver to see if anything in there stood out: Anyone seen any similar issues on Windows 10? Cheers
  23. The drummer looked absolutely wrecked at one point in the video!!
  24. This stuck in my head. LOVE IT
