if you has a laptop on the phone vlan, can you ping the server? I also set this up on mine - https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/tftp-server/ So all I have to do it add the phone on 3cx with the mac address, plugin the phone and it pickup everything automatically. - I think I did this because I had a similar issue to you.

@Frazzle, The ports on the switch my HyperV Hosts connect to are set as Trunk Ports and then I use the VLAN Tagging on the VM to set the VLAN - this then allows you to set any VM to the required VLAN quickly and easily. At the moment, 3CX server sits within my Server VLAN and the phones sit within the Phone VLAN. DHCP is handled by my Windows DHCP hand I have setup DHCP Option 66 and a TFTP server to boot the phones. I should really change it so the server sits within the Phone VLAN but this will have to wait until Half term or Christmas Break.

I have 4 fibre runs 8 - 12 core )from core to various end points in school. From those endpoints, fibre has been extended to other areas of the school. If one of those 4 fibre runs fail for any reason, I lose huge areas of school. I was planning to replace them with a fibre run per cabinet and remove the extension upon extension of fibre runs. Hope that all makes sense

Some of the cables don’t have writing on them - which is a shame as some have the test number which I can look up online. I have a fluke AT runner, but on the fibre, it only gives me a connections speed unlike copper where I can get all the info I need. May see if I can ‘test’ a fibre fluke tester for a day and see what that says.

I currently have some OM1 fibres which I would like to replace with OM3/4 pre-terminated fibre, as I will be running the cables myself. Is there an easy way I can measure the existing fibre runs or am I going to need to walk/measure the cable runs. Cheers

Have you changed IP address on the machine you installed 3CX?

Only after adding school logon and the name of the school - otherwise staff wont have a clue if they connected to the correct to our rdp server.

Just installed the HTML5 webclient on our RDP server and wonder how you go about customising/branding it. Any one done this or found any guides? Cheers

Every teaching rooms have the same desktop, 30 rooms have interactive screens, the remainder have 10+ year old IWB and projectors and speakers. If staff have a school laptop then they are lucky as this is before my time - when I arrived laptop are not longer given to staff, so if they have one and it dies they don't get replaced!

Those who have made the switch to the Unifi APs, do you use smoothwall? And do you have any issues with roaming? Currently have meraki and roaming is luckily due to me replaced April time!

I put a new NIC into one of the affect desktop and hey presto it works perfectly - plug only NIC back in and refused to pick on correct VLAN IP I think a core switch reboot may be in order just incase something weird happing on there.

Looks like the NICs on those PCs have some kind of spike - USB NIC works absolutely fine.

Having reset the switch - printers and phones are getting the correct vlan details - seems i have about 10 desktops which the NIC have all suddenly gone faulty as they refuse to pick up DHCP from any source! Any ideas?

No, DHCP servers are in the Desktop VLAN, - left old DHCP range in VLAN whilst i finished off port changes etc. I've moved an affect PC to a different part of the network to see if that resolved anything by still not picking up DHCP address on the Desktop VLAN

I have a switch with a number of computers which have suddenly refused to pick up dhcp addresses on all VLANs apart from vlan 1. If I plug a fluke tester or a laptop I get the correct vlan IP address. I have swapped out my Unifi edgemax switch with a netgear and the same issues exists. Anyone any clues why a group of machines will suddenly refuse to pick up dhcp? Cheers

That’s what we do, after they connect, we get meraki to redirect them to smoothwall mitm page.

Not at work at the moment so I cannot check, but is it possible to allow/block emails domains depending on AD groups? Eg. Block Facebook/twitter/instagram emails for all users except if members of social media group. Cheers

We have just had 30 x 65" Sharp Screen installed and I can deploy all the software except for the Display Connect software which requires a Serial Number being entered. The install file is an InstallShield Setup.exe which uses an MSI I have tried the following: setup.exe /r /f1"MyFile.iss" and no answer file is recorded. I have extracted the MSI and tried msiexec /i "Software.msi" /qb SERIALNUMBER=XXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXXXX I dont really want to have to manually enter the serial number! Anyone managed to deply this with a serial number? Cheers

Sorry - i have well and truly confused myself - it documentation shows 2 endpoint which I read as 2 SIP Trunks, - Yes there are 2 SIP Trunk but one being a failover

That what we were advised moving from ISDN to SIP. Almost all the suppliers I approached mentioned multiple SIP Trunks.

Phone system is due to go live at the end of the month and I now have 2 Gamma SIP Trunks in place (with 2 Channels each) and our existing numbers will be ported over. I am about to add these number to the DDI section on SIP Trunks and have a couple of quick questions.... Do I need to put the DDI Numbers on to each SIP Trunk? - I'm guessing yes, otherwise the DDI Numbers will only working on the SIP Trunk they have been assigned to - is that correct? So, if I have DDI numbers signed to both SIP Trunks, they will be listed twice when I come to assign the DDI to an extension - so (again guessing) I would need assign the both duplicate DDI Numbers to the extension. Does that sound about right - or do I need to go away drink more coffee and then come back again
