What are you trying to achieve from the sign in system? Is it specific to your sports hall? We've got InVentry, which is pricey for what it is but works very well.

Do you have a way of providing a different DNS entry for each school? I would try and run an auth portal at each site - you'd just need to change the DNS entry according to the client's site. You want to minimise latency as much as possible for this.

If I were to do it all again this time I'd get a straight Internet connection and do filtering on site ourselves again. Zen Internet, Exa Networks would be my first port of call. Do filtering on site with Sophos XG or Palo Alto. In the case of a MAT I'd look at the largest school (or the one with the best connection available) doing core routing and then the smaller schools connecting back to the main school for their filtering/Internet access to reduce cost.

Can you do that with the embedded MFP software too?

We've just asked for a detailed breakdown of the quote - seems a little high for a primary school, it would be more expensive than our entire MS EES agreement.

That's roughly half the cost annually that we're being quoted. Our quote is PaperCut MF license + the embedded licensing on x1 HP and x2 Kyocera MFPs to enable PIN and follow-me printing (all installation included) - we're a small primary school so you can imagine the sort of pupil numbers we're talking.

Hi Guys, We're about to enter into an agreement with our photocopier supplier and wanted to make sure we weren't being completely ripped off on the cost of PaperCut. We've asked for licensing for PaperCut MF with embedded software to cover x3 copiers. Does anyone else that's using PaperCut mind sharing rough costs their school are paying? I realise some of the cost will be offset against the paper/ink we're supposedly saving but I want to make sure our school aren't being completely ripped off - it's not like we can go around and grab quotes from elsewhere because we're halfway through our photocopier lease agreements and we'd have to go through these guys for PaperCut too. To me our quote doesn't seem overly expensive but it's still on the pricey end of my scale. Cheers

It's not really SchoolsBroadband's fault. Many large organisations, ISPs, schools/universities have this problem because Google can be overzealous or change random stuff without telling anyone. If anything it's Google's fault.

Have you asked the staff why they aren't using the IWBs? Obviously it differs from school to school but there would be outcry in our school if we took away out interactive SMART displays now.

Yeah, I've rolled out OneDrive to our staff laptops since they use their own laptops 99% of the time, for the couple of shared Desktop areas we have I tell them to use the OneDrive link on their desktop to take them to the web app. Students are still on folder redirection for us :/

We actually switched to local profiles - it's made our login times super quick and MS seem to slowly be dropping more and more support for roaming/mandatory profiles nowadays.

Are you licensed for 365 CTR? The included licenses in Office365 do not allow installation on school-owned devices - you need to buy it on your volume licensing agreement

I do like the ol' Ubiquiti stuff, their Wireless gear and IP cams have been nothing but rock solid for us. Entirely set and forget. I'm just waiting on their switches to get a bit more popular with a couple more years behind them and I'd happily switch for smaller businesses/schools! Once they get features like stacking sorted out they'll be real winners.

Intune worked out cheapest out of all options for our school since you can roll it into your EES agreement and cover any/all devices based on staff counts rather than device.

Sorry not transparent in the sense of not having to define a proxy setting, transparent in that there is no required authentication. We put all our iPads in their own VLAN with a more restrictive web filtering policy.

In that situation I've had luck putting a warranty ticket in with Lenovo and just asking to buy the part with no engineer since it's OOW, which they've been happy enough to sort for me.

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has managed to get ClassDojo to work through their filtering (specifically Netsweeper)? If so which URLs have you had to unblock? I've allowed as many of the blocked URLs as I can by watching the live Netsweeper log and clicking around the ClassDojo app but our teachers still don't seem to be able to upload photos. We're using Netsweeper on SchoolsBroadband in transparent mode for our iPad network. Cheers

You can enroll iOS, Android, and Macs without an app. Windows requires one. There will be an enrollment URL in your Meraki dashboard you can go to on your devices and do it clientless through the web browser if you're not doing bulk enrollment via DEP.
