Morning, have encountered a problem with a machine I have just built for our media department. I have set it up with a mirrored local drive, but the problem I have is that our domain policy restricts access to local drives and I believe redirects the start menu to an empty folder. The problem I have is that i'm pretty new to policies and this is something that was setup by previous people. This media machine is also running win7 Enterprise 64bit and we are running a 2003 domain with all xp machines so in brief what I want to do is point the start menu to a folder full of application shortcuts give access to the D drive with a folder for each user that logs in. I have tried playing with a policy attached to the container the machine is in, but it doesnt seem to be having much effect. Thankyou in advance for any help

I have a smilemore account, very good service...was with hsbc but if I went the slighteset bit overdrawn they would slap a £25 minimum charge without notifying me or early warning. smile is £500 and no charges I only find bank transfers take time if coming to or from a natwest account - ie. my housemates... otherwise smile <--> hsbc is instant. I like the fact that they dont hide all the information in hard to find places and are easy to speak to on the phone (in my experience) card reader is a pain though, but I guess they are all heading that way now.

i imagine the ip that is coming back is that of our webhost but then I would expect that of the .co.uk domain, I dont get anything for .iow.sch.uk. it's got to be something to do with ISA, but I dont know what :/

cant ping 'cannot find host' can 'kind of' ping rydehigh.co.uk gives an ip but times out. have kind of inherited this network so dont know how everything has been setup host is 1and1....and yes I agree...its not good. I personally like heart internet

404 now fixed, its not flash but will do for now

Our internal domain is rhsnet.local, looking into the 404 at the moment, hadnt noticed it as our ISA server was kicking out friendly ones internally....only see them if I connect through external proxy. and yes, it is a nasty 404 :/

I think its something to do with isa server 2004, if we connect through our proxy.rydehigh address it works fine, through our isaserver.rhsnet.local it tries to point to the old address which doesnt exist ie, it is still pointing to the internal web server which then forwards to the old non-existant page. have tried turning http cache off and then back on but no luck there....any suggestions?

Yep, have checked all this and its still the same. what I have noticed is when I open the rydehigh.iow.sch.uk address on the offending pc's it quickly flashes up with rydehigh.iow.sch.uk/rydetest in the status bar.... could our ISA server be causing this? i'm really stumped.

We use K2, Agreed lots of configuring to get it how you want it, but it is BRILLIANT and you can migrate all your existing articles to it too. and you can create multiple permission levels for users!

multiple, its trying to download the file 'rydetest' of an unknown file type. even though the file and directory dont exist on the server.

Hi Guys, Just discovered a problem this morning with our site this morning: Ryde High School Languages and Arts College @Ryde High School When you open it up in browser versions prior to IE8 you get a white page with the yellow toolbar at the top blocking a file download, the file download is actually the previous name of the websites directory (rydetest) which has now been renamed to 'ryde', the file is about 22bites and seems to be just a null file, but its stopping our site from loading. All the domains point to the 'ryde' directory in our hosting panel, you can see that the two other address Ryde High School Languages and Arts College @Ryde High School & Ryde High School Languages and Arts College @Ryde High School load fine. any suggestions? edit, when I click on pages on the site I now get 404's (on all domains) i'm just wondering if this is something to do with SEF or temporary cache

well...technically its the same physical server, but we want to rebuild it with 2008, the machine runs sql server 2005 on which there is a database called SOPHOS, how do I go about backing up all the data and then reinstating it on the new server? Thanks

pretty urgent one... can run event viewer, nor start its service, cant logon as domain user, tried rejoining domain but now cant...when we try to run the event viewer service we get "Windows could not start the Windows event log service on Local Computer. Error 4201: The instance name passed was not recoganized as valid by a WMI data provider." bit baffled by this and dont really want to have to reinstall the os.

I bought myself a vaio VGN-FW56E for christmas, full 16inch full hd screen, bluray (for backups ), ATI HD 3450 512mb graphics (can play bioshock 2 at full hd) 500 gig, chiclet keyboard, cardreaders, firewire, hdmi out, 2-3 hours battery, 4 gig ram... core 2 duo, 2.2ghz I think..... was a bit pricey at £800, but does the job very well and dual boots with Kubuntu linux. more ram would be better though and intel VT so I can run 64bit virtual machines

Does anyone know of a way to login to Uniservity using a module in Joomla?.. I was just thinking this would be a really cool feature to have and since we have a nice piece of blank real estate on the right hand panel of our site...mmm yeah
