Loading one of our CPOMS sites in Edge and having a look at the source shows nothing untoward - there's some tracking stuff in there from New Relic, a link to Google's JS API, and it uses Polyfill for some other JS stuff. It has CSRF baked in, to prevent cross site forgery too. Looks totally fine from that side of things.

My guess is that because the site itself is flagged as deceptive, any emails that link to that site might get flagged too?

We currently back up our data using Veeam to an onsite NAS (for day to day quick recovery of files etc...). We then copy this up to Azure archival tier storage using CloudBerry (though I believe the newest version of Veeam may be able to eliminate this extra software), where it is stored for 180 days in a WORM manner. It then automatically gets deleted. We run a full backup weekly, with incremental backups daily. The copy to Azure happens weekly, with a full set of that week's data copied up. The offsite is basically for total DR only. 3 years into doing it this way, we've never had to download something from it (other than to test the backups work). We store roughly 60TB at the moment, but it has been up to 110TB before. EDIT: Obviously this is not as robust as a continual offsite backup.

Thank you, but this prices it way out for me then I'm afraid as it would be significantly more expensive than we pay at the moment.

Welcome to the forum. I have a question - please can you tell me if the pricing calculator refers to the size of a backup, or the total you store? Some providers charge by the size of a backup, regardless of how long you store it (so you could end up with 20 full backups in there, but are charged by the size of the individual backup). Others charge based on the total data stored (so, if you keep 20 backups, you get charged 20 x the individual backup size). Thanks

I think its more of a case of "oh darn, we've ran out of energy in the middle of nowhere". Could probably do something similar with an external battery pack. Like we do with phones. But larger.

This seems like it might be a slight misunderstood factoid? If someone is vaccinated, they are less likely to end up in hospital with covid. My guess is that if they DO end up in hospital with it, the likelihood is that 8x more likely to be the African variant causing it? The vaccine doesn't stop the spread or catching of any variants of the virus. It instead gives your body the tools to tackle it better, reducing the risk of a severe infection/hospitalisation. Some of the variants seem to not be affected by the vaccine (ie. the antibodies needed are different), so if you do get the virus, and have severe symptoms, the likelihood is that it is the African variant (or other, non-covered variants). Its why we'll likely need a booster jab in autumn, and why we'll likely need periodic new jabs as new variants appear. I can't see any reason why being vaccinated would increase your likelihood of getting any form of the virus though.

There's no risks - its just a printer. It comes down to what you want from your MFD fleet. We want consistency, ease of management, and simple invoicing. If those things are less important to you, there's no reason to stick to a single supplier. But, you do lose some economies of scale - if you're buying 15 copiers, you're gonna get better pricing than buying 1.

Ah, we've never bought a copier outside of our 3 yearly lease renewals. If we think we may need a different setup next time round, we just note it and live with what we have until then. We don't buy any machines at all. All of it is just leased. And as it is all on framework, the price is fixed. So even if we did want another machine, the new price would be the same as the old, as the framework agreement hasn't changed.

We run it embedded. Never had an issue getting them to change the couple of settings needed (or, in reality, they just give me the codes I need to make the changes), then everything else is a user app on Ricoh machines. It'd be like not letting you install software on a leased PC.

If you buy using one of the various framework agreements, then this isn't a thing. Eg. We bought our copies under the CPC framework agreement. Costs are fixed for the length of our contract and cannot be increased - that's the whole point of the contract. If you are buying copiers off-framework and are in education, you're doing it wrong. Simply put - the frameworks do all the work for you in the first place. Ensuring you've got a contract that complies with procurement laws, and has a good set of terms for you as a customer. There's no hidden charges etc... Why is it you think your copier company can randomly change the terms of their contract? I've only come across this once before, with an off-framework contract. However, regarding something like papercut - yes, this should be done off-contract. It isn't a part of the copiers, it is software you run on your server. We've not bought it through our contract for a LONG time.

Disadvantage of running your own servers like that @dhicks is that you then need the expertise to maintain them all and scale the system as you go. Increasing costs in a different way.

Another option is to use something like this - https://www.unified-streaming.com/solutions/video-on-demand It sits atop services such as Azure and provides a user friendly way of dealing with video on demand.

The main take away for me is that the current government plan of mitigation cannot work. This is just one of the many new variants appearing, with some not effectively being dealt with by existing vaccines. So, mitigating the effects of the pandemic can never work - if the virus is allowed to keep spreading, it increases the chances of a new variant appearing which will undo the work the vaccination has done.

Stream is for internal videos for an org, not external.
