Some firms seem to do instant boiling water taps now. Part of our building has been refitted and had these put in rather than those large wall mounted hot water boilers. Not used one though so can;t cxomment on how well they work, but I can;t imagine them being as good as a kettle or water boiler.

SIMSLoad.exe does not load SIMS .net. It is essentially the "updater app" that checks the S:\SIMS\Setups folder for any new updates and applys any that are found. If there are no upgrades, it will do nothing. Pulsar.exe essentially is SIMS .net and is what's run to load SIMS. Look at the properties of the SIMS .net short cut in the start menu and you will see it runs two exe's, the SIMSLoad.exe first, then pulsar.exe after. (eg: check for/apply updates, then run SIMS) EDIT: Also, as you have SOLUS3 in use at your school and a SOLUS3 agent installed on the workstation, it will block SIMSLoad.exe from running at all as it has taken over the task of upgrading SIMS .net so even if there was any updates to apply in your Setups folder, it would still do nothing.

Rule 1 of EudGeek Club: Regular backups! Rule 2: See rule 1. All my personal data (docs, files, basically anything I don't want to loose) are saved to 'My Documents' which I sync daily to my NAS (which has two drives in RAID 1). Everything else is just software that can be reinstalled if my HDD borks.

I agree with all of this apart from the bit on SSD's. SSD's have come down a lot in price and until you make the switch from a 'classic' HDD to a SSD, you won't realise just how much faster they are and the jump in performance they provide. Even if you get a small SSD purely for the O/S and the likes of Office and other programs, and a separate 'classic' drive for games (ie, Steam! ). My system did not cost a huge amount and the performance I get out of my AMD CPU is really good! Plus it was a lot cheaper then some of the Intel options.

I'd say Borg too for the same reasons. If the manage to assimilate one of the big boys star ships, then it would be game set and match. Nice to see ship from Spaceballs on there. Also seeing the Freespace ships reminded me I still have a copy of it on my DVD unit. Tempted to replay.

I reciently upgraded from a similar spec. Same CPU and RAM. HDD was 7200 and I had my trusty GTX280. I managed DayZ with wverything on low. BF3 24 man maps were the bst I could do. I tried a 64-man and it keeled over and died. I went for the upgrade (and still need to replace my GPU). With so many awesome PC games available and coming soo, PC is the only way I wanted to go.

Battling with various SOLUS3 issues in some schools, sometimes a lot of it comes down to the permissions settings with the 'machine keys', specifically the files found in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys. While I can fix most of these permissions issue, I'm not 100% sure on what this files actually are or what they are used for. Can anyone shed some light on these for me?
