I've got 36 Ipads 1's in the school now, with 2-4 Ipad 2's to come at some point soon, and already the talk is to buy 15-20 Ipad 2's when the 3 comes out. At some point I'll write up something about my experiences with them, management, Apps, etc, but there's a lot to say, and I want to give it justice. I'm certainly not an Apple lover, I'm closer to hating them mostly because of their corporate strategies, but I acknowledge they make some good stuff that if they come down off the pedestal they put themselves on, I would be quite happy with. I heard the Apple advert but didn't watch it (was doing housework at the time), but my opinion of most adverts or places that sell technology is that half are targeting the sheep-like people who buy the latest fad, and the other half are just selling blankly. I mean you just have to go to some tech sales sites and try a comparison between items from different companies (EG, try doing a compare against Samsung/Sony/LG TV's). They each use different standards and list different specs to eachother, so you CANNOT compare them. One will tell you the maximum Contrast ratio as 3 billion trillion to 1, the other will list standard contrast which is what you want to compare, and the other will tell you the refresh rate instead and list N/A against contrast ratio.

Im not 100% positive but i think Deus XI is in Hidden Agenda[HiD] (the Corp i am in, in eve.) Im sure i have seen a char with that name in crop chat... (i missed this thread for a while, sorry for late response) I am an old friend of Ruffio's and Deus, since a year or two before EvE; we played a browser game called Planetarion. You'll still find me lurking in the public channel most nights! Deus bounces around between HiD, minnie FW and the odd 0.0 alliance/corp depending on his mood.

Only in primary education or dealing with young children would such a sentence not sound stupid. Sometimes I love this job!

I have a galaxy S, has anyone discovered a Facebook app for it that actually works? Mine crashes all the time, doesn't support push notifications, and just generally sucks.

Sigh. Another case of robbing peter to feed paul; Money will be moved from "Personnel" to "IT services". The money outgoing will be the same, but the costs will just come from a different financial code. Thankfully, last I saw there are still rules and laws governing data and where that data is allowed to go, and as I recall we are not legally allowed to send certain sensitive data outside of the UK. So this will be a very restrictive service.

Pfft. Best way to kill an allergy is to keep exposing yourself to it in small but increasing amounts. The body itself emits it's own EM fields (although minute). So do rocks, Iron, and well, the Sun! Turning on a radio could not emit enough of an EM field unless your picking up alien transmissions; the radio waves are already there, it's just detecting them. you can run a radio with a 1.5V battery.

We bought direct from Apple, where we got an education discount. there was a hoop or two to jump through I believe, but not sure the exact procedure as the HT ordered them directly. I would not have spent £12k on something for students to play games on occasionally.

I think you have to accept that things sometimes don't work when you get them. I've had it happen a few times, and although the ease of replacement varies from time to time, it's generally not a problem to get something like that done. My reason for disliking them is their absolute incompetence in dealing with that last order.... When someone sends an item back saying it's the wrong one, you don't then make the same mistake a second time. That is the only time I've ever had a company mess up an order, and the only time i've ever heard of a company messing up the same way the replacement was for. I too generally use either Overclockers or Scan, though I have saver/sava/save/sav*to infinity/store based just 3 miles away, so I have an option to buy/and collect from them.

My record with ebuyer and why I will never ever buy from them again.... Order a Seagate 250gb SATA hard drive.... They send me a Seagate 250gb IDE hard drive. Complain, raise a ticket, acknowledge mistake, collect incorrect item. Wait a week, new drive arrives... another 250gb IDE hard drive. Have not very happy discussion with customer service rep, they try to do another replacement... I give up and keep the drive, and leave very negative reviews.

Me and (my now) wife waited 4 years till we set the date, and the date was 2 years after that. Proposed while she was in Uni, waited till she finished, then another year or so, then 18-20 months of planning.

Some great songs and artists came out of eurovision long ago (Abba, Celine Dion to name but two of the most iconic names). Can't remember one in my lifetime though.

Blue's song was a good pop-chart song... But the eurovision stopped being about good music a long time ago. Jedward, despite being awful at everything are still a stage presence (though their dancing abilities are indeed awful as well as their singing, costume choice, hair styling among other things). It's time to go back to the judges voting. The real question is, should we move it to a FPTP, AV or PR vote?

After 7 years of eve I'm still a noob. and mining is for macro'ers tbh now. Belt ratting is almost more profitable.

I was on holiday for the vote, so didn't get a chance to do it I hate the current system, about as much as I hate politics in general. My biggest bug with the current system is that the person who is best for your local area is NOT necessarily the best pick for the country. I think I'd rather go back to a tyrannical Monarchy at the moment. Anything is better than a hung parliament, with one party you wouldn't trust with a wooden spoon, and another party that got in because people didn't like the only other option. We've voted in the current people one way or another, but how much of what they've done was wanted or appreciated by the majority of people in the UK? I believe a majority asked for a political reform, not a waste of time and effort that this proved to be.

I'm bored of all the hype around overclocking, massive heatsinks, cooling etc. These reviews are not used in a place I like to call "The real world". Comparing a heat sink and fans that are literally so huge that only the largest of cases can contain them, and comparing it against something that can be bolted to a single 120mm fan outlet is idiotic. Not to mention, that the liquid cooling unit pipes all heat to the radiator unit, which is always going to be on the outside of a case... That mammoth of a heat sink block is millimeters from the graphics card and memory, which is going to suffer from heat radiating from such a massive block so close to it. In an open air environment no contest that big air heat sink is excellent. Inside a case, except the largest of cases with the largest of motherboards, it's going to cook everything around it. And to be absolutely honest, I see no point in going for those oversized and priced coolers. You do NOT need 4.5GHz of quad core hyperthreaded CPU. I have run 2 eve clients, IRC, TS, MSN, Multiple web browsers, word, excel running macro's and external data sources, outlook, and had music playing, and I STILL do not push the processor to it's limits. Hell I've even done that with a virtual server running Ubuntu, and it still purred along. I find network, and hard drives are the most limiting factor. Unless you are getting into high end video editing/CAD/photography, working with large databases or multiple virtual instances, you simply don't need it. I run that lot on an I7 950 at stock speeds with a stock cooler. I might go for a new cooling solution eventually, but that's only if I could move to a silent or near silent option. I have a Thermaltake Armor case, so it's big enough to put any cooling solution I want into it.

I find this entirely hard to believe in any level or at any significant scale. I cannot imagine the 'average' Head/senior management of a public school earning 30% more than their private equivalents. I think IT education salaries on average have gone down overall. 5 years ago few NM's in decent sized school's would earn less than 25k; now i see them for 18-22k. They expect a LOT more for the money now.

then we come to..... Isn't that a catch 22? If you don't exercise you increase the risk, but if you exercise you increase the chances of it happening? Talk about advocating never pushing yourself...
