Hi all Has anyone here got any clue as to where we can buy these from? Looking to avoid the manufacturer as costs tend to be fairly high. Even a decent copied remote is fine. Had a quick look on ebay and nothing obvious. Cheers.

By the way talking of Tandys weren't they a British sister company of American Radioshack??? Very similar products and branding etc. I'm sure they were connected. The fact both used to sell the value brand 'realistic' products is probably a give away too.

They have actually been a mix of WD's and Seagates. Both appear to have reliability issues. Surprised that in a 2015 model PC that they used 3.5" drives though. Am going to try and blag some SATA leads out of HP as I suspect these could be a problem too.

Dear All We've around 250 of these on our network. Overall they've been a decent purchase but we've had a number of problems relating to hard drives. These problems are: 1) Hard drives failing and being detected in F2 diagnostics as being failed. All replaced under warranty (of which has just ran out for some) 2) Intermittent hard drive detection issues. Often powering off/on the PC can resolve this. At others taking the back off, re-attaching the drive can too. Suggests a Sata controller or cabling issue maybe. Have updated the BIOS of all affected PC's but doesn't appear to resolve anything. Anyone else had problems with these units?? They seem decent overall but hard drives have been an Achilles heel. Thanks for reading.

Hilarious that there's so many huffy and precious teachers at our West London Independent today. How dare they be asked to travel into work when they majority of public transport is working fine. Dare I see social media has seen their state school colleagues sharing pics with their feet up and they've all become a bit jealous. Even if our school 'closed'...support staff would be expected in anyway. Not impressed that some schools seem to wave the white flag so easily thus setting the wrong example to pupils. Taxpayers money wasted too.

We have around 12 older laptops of which we want to convert to BYOD devices for ad hoc hire. They will have Windows 7 Pro installed on them. They are not going to be locked down in any way. However whilst they are going to be given out as 'public' machines, is there any way we can manage the profile so that if someone logs in to webmail for example and through habit checks 'remember password', that it can somehow force a 'clear' or reset the profile? we want to try and avoid the situation where a user ends up seeing another users email. Chrome and IE11 are available to use on these. Ideally, we want to have just the one profile on there of which is not password protected and logs in automatically without intervention. Cheers

Dear All Are thinking of using one of our older DL380 G6 servers to host Arcserv UDP. It has plenty of CPU and RAM capacity and is up to the task in many ways. However, for it to process the raw data more effectively we've been advised to use SSD's instead of the usual SAS 10k drives. I realise that HP will sell me SSD drives for a rather large amount of money However, would a decent consumer Intel or Kingston SSD drive prove to be reliable?? Not sure whether we are looking at RAID 1+0 or 5 or 6 just yet. Or am I better off just paying the extra and getting in proper enterprise grade kit? Cheers

May be worth looking at an early to mid 2000s Saab 9-5 estate? A hell of a lot of car for the money. They do a 2.0 and 2.3 4cyl manual. Believe the trim levels are Vector for a the sporty model and Arc for a softer, granddaddy luxury version. There is also a performance model called the Aero of which has a 240hp 2.3 turbo unit. Definitely worth a look if you want something a little different.

Are you only interested in Estate cars? Just thought I'd ask as you were asking about the Avant. If not....ever considered a Lexus GS300? You can probably get a late 90s one for banger money now. The difference is, they can handle high mileage with ease. 150,000 miles with a FSH is nothing to be worried about. A quality, comfortable car with a decent interior and lots of get up and go.

I'd go for the 2.4 petrol all day long. Turns a family saloon into something a bit more exciting. But then again I've always liked a big petrol engine If you've never owned BMW or Merc before, just be prepared for some bigger bills. And if you are coming from a Honda/Toyota/Lexus background, be prepared for a slight drop in reliability. The Japs have and still trump in this area.

E46 petrol makes more sense than any of the diesels to be honest. Unless your doing a huge amount of motorway miles, petrol wins time and time again for a number of reasons. Diesels have come a long way from the days of being the domain of tractors and locomotives, but they still aren't in the same league when it comes to smoothness or refinement of petrols.

The 2.5 V6 diesel version of the A6 was a model I was interested in a few years ago. However, I was put off by a number of reviews stating that it was a noisy, expensive to run and not much faster than a remapped 1.9. The Audi/VW 1.9 was probably the best diesel engine ever created. To be honest unless my mileage was high, I'd never bother with a diesel, especially a 6 cylinder model anyway. They are potential huge money pits in spite of the savings in fuel. Same goes for any large diesel engined German car to be honest. Simply wouldn't touch one unless it was low mileage and full service history. People think they are getting a 'savage' motor for a relatively low outlay, but the actual truth is they are buying a money pit on wheels. Plenty of disgruntled BMW 330D/530D/535D/735D owners on a BMW forum I'm on. Yes, we're talking into the thousands for repair bills. The fanboys reckon these types of German car are totally special thus the expensive repair costs. I say the quality of some of the components and engineering on the large diesels is actually pretty substandard. The straight six 2.5/3.0i petrol models on the other hand are excellent and durable.

Hiya Datar We are: Installing windows 10 Running a couple of rounds of windows update Installing a few third party drivers And thats it! For initial testing we've not loaded anything like office on there.

Secure boot is turned off on all of our machines. The problems seems to be within sysprep itself. We've had 2 or 3 various error messages when attempting to run sysprep. In one case we managed to run sysprep - generalise, the system shut down, rebooted but will not get past the preferences section. Its in a total loop no matter what settings you choose. Must be missing something obvious?

Dear All Beginning the move to windows 10 here. Presently use Windows 7 Ent throughout. First thing we've noticed is various errors with sysprep. With windows 7 we simple build a hardware based image including most the software, run sysprep - generalise - shutdown, capture the image with third party cloning software. Then distribute this image via our 3rd party cloning software. All ran rather smoothly in our environment. However, with windows 10 do we need to finally succumb to the 'microsoft way' of deploying windows? Thanks in advance.

Hi All Been attempting to download the latest BIOS for a Hewlett Packard DL380 G7. The traditional method of USB/CD boot is greyed out with 'entitlement required' listed. Appears you now need to subscribe to a chargeable 'care pack' to ensure you can download this. Has anyone on here managed to bypass this at all? Seems a bit overkill having to pay for a BIOS update! I'm disappointed but not surprised that Lancaster hasn't fallen on his sword yet. The English have sadly become rather inept when it comes to the noble art of resigning with dignity. The case against him is overwhelming. Scotland earlier proved that even with relatively small resources, you can produce a team that is organised and full of belief. Sadly the England rugby team is in danger of going the same way as the football team. The ridiculous pre tournament hype may not be the players fault, but from what I can see, huge sums of cash have come into the English game in the past ten or so years. Yet the final product is simply not good enough. Getting tired of hearing "we're building, we're learning" etc. Sooner or later you have to become a finished article to be judged on results (especially at major tournaments) alone.

Hi all Need to procure around 45 PC's for a new ART block we are opening up. For our standard PC we have HP AIO G1 400's running i3 and 4Gb RAM. However judging by the software they want to use, Adobe CC 2015, we will be required to put 8-16gb RAM in and an i5 processor. We can get the AIO G1 400's with this spec but the onboard Intel video card isn't one thats 'certified' to work with Adobe Premier 2015. It really needs a reasonable Nvidia or AMD video card of which can be tricky with AIO or integrated graphics in general. Has anyone else on here managed to come up with a decent solution for this? Ideally with AIO technology? Regards

Has anyone else here procured en masse with these AIO PC's? If so has anyone had issues with the D-Ports performing erratically? Ie a slight touch on the d-port cable causes the connection to drop. You can actually feel that the dport plug does not appear to sit as firm as it should. Closing the gap slightly with the metal d-port socket surrounds does not appear to resolve this. We've had 3 entire motherboards replaced under warranty out of around 40 AIO's so far. Maybe we've just had bad luck but has anyone else had issues here? Cheers
