  8. try looking at your switches we had this and it was a faulty core switch and also check the nic cards they might be on the way out
  9. what i have setup is map windows homefolder and display it on the dock click on the homefolder and then open it in finder at the top you get the name of the homefolder and a little folder icon drag this icon over to the places bar on the side bar and for that session the user can select the windows homefolder to save into and load.
  10. make sure the time is synced to your DC this is the number one cause of failed logins here goto the time preferences and put your dc name in and lock the settings not had any problems so far 2 months since the install.

  13. dont you haveto put the machine name\username eg pcname\administrator
  14. anyone else had this issue. it is weird as the user can log in but when they try to type the machine just makes a noise for every key press.

  16. i have come across this again posted this tip http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-server-2008/82394-tip-delete-those-pesky-files-windows-refuses-delete-filename-too-long-ect.html just use 7 zip to delete the file (it does work)
  17. i could not get it to run off a ntfs share on my server but i have thought about using a nas formatted for mac to store profiles on or even utilise the mac mini server a bit more. It just seemed to be the easiest option at the time as my knowledge of mac os was non existent over 10 years since i even looked at one and things have changed oh so much. i was under pressure to get things working so i have not looked at anything else yet.
  18. our exchange server is a dell gx60 2ghz celeron with 512mb ram it happily chugs away doing its stuff server 2003 installed. funnily enough it is our most reliable machine.
  19. i am going to get one sorted so when its done i will post
  20. i had the issues where the iphoto etc was not happy with using a windows share but as it happens we issue the student with the same mac and they are fine just having a link to the windows documents on the dock it saved all the rubbish being copied to the network share also it speeds up data transfer as the machines are using the local hard drive to process videos/data . we just get the kids to copy the final projects to the windows share when they are finished. another plus side is the kids wont damage the machines that they rely on for the year
  21. solus?
