  1. I'd recommend Edinburgh Bike Co-op stuff, well made & good value, they know what they're doing in there. Same for Evans Cycles too bit more expensive though. Try before you buy if at all possible, riding positions can vary a lot & get help in adjusting the riding position to suit you.
  2. I had this pop into my inbox today, could be useful if it comes to UK. Might ease some of the problems we and many seem to have. Apple - Education - IT - Device Enrollment Program Apple fixes iPad management problems with new Device Enrollment Program - ClassThink.com
  3. Seems to be a fairly common problem with DLP. We bought a few (Infocus, Acer, Optoma) because they were cheap, havent lasted the DLP chips gone speckled or blurry images. Sticking to 3LCD from now on.

We just put our first Epson EB-X11 because of recommendations on here, really pleased with image & the ver & horiz keystone adjust which is a great feature. Hope longevity is good not buying any more DLP machines for school use.
  5. For good value I'd recommend Asus RT-N16 with a custom firmware (Tomato/DD-WRT) not all the latest features but a good customisable device.
  6. We had quite a few issues in one particular room mainly with cable being removed from the back of machines, when we updated opted for some Viglen Genie Pro which have a cable guard shield fitted on the back & that has stopped pretty much all of that. They just loosen the network cables from the wall sockets now, little darlings
  7. Yes that's a possibility THX, I might try a surge protector like this APC Essential SurgeArrest 1 outlet 230V UK (P1-UK) - www.misco.co.uk to see if it helps any before I get the scaffold out.
  8. Hi All, Just wondering if anyone can shed any light on this problem. Our recently installed Casio XJ H1700 is locking up & switching itself off fairly regularly. This can be cleared by powering off for 3 mins & then back on again, thats fine but it seems to be happening more regularly & during actual use now. The manual says for the lights that show the error: "The projector was turned off automatically due to some problem that was probably caused by external digital noise or some other reason" anyone got a clue to what that means & if we can do anything about it before sending off to CASIO under warranty? The main reason I haven't sent it off already is that its 5m off the floor in our main hall .....scaffold tower to get it down
  9. We have the 16H models with the trays. The lastest ones have good cable management now compared to the older ones but the Stone NT310 are still too wide to comfortably fit front on. This has the drawback of not being able to see the charging lights so it's plug & hope.
  10. Recommendation would normally be on price especially as you probably can't make use of the fastest SSDs in your old desktop. I've used some basic Sandisk ones in old core 2 machines & found them to make a useful difference for reasonable money. Solid State Drive (SSD) by SanDisk
  11. We just bought 60 N310's & so far (about 3 months in student use) they seem OK, no failures yet. Things I like: Light weight/size, screen, touchpad & buttons, Stone support (based on previous use) Things I don't like: No ability to disable the WiFi toggle function key , Lid flexes a bit too much for my liking, side entry power connector making them a bit to wide to have front facing in our Lap Cabby trolleys.
  12. We have just installed a new trial of Pcounter & have come across this issue or very similar. I'll try to replicate your conditions & test again. If you find any help please share here. Thanks
  13. We have a few machines that drop off with trust error issue quite regularly, got any more insights re. this?
  14. We have a handful of XJA130's for probably getting on for 2 years now & they are bright still & colours still seem fine. Issues:one had what we thought was a remote fault, sent it back no fault found, turned out to be florescent lights in that room interfered with the remote, they have to be off for it to work! Just have another that needs to go back with what I think is the classic DLP failure issue, white/black specs over the image from DLP chip fault, still in warranty so that should get sorted.
  15. Thanks for the help, I'll get back to you all after half term as I don't work through.
  16. Hi all, we have a recurring issue with some Toshiba Tecra A10 laptops that are now out of warranty. The mouse pad buttons on this model get hammered by the students sometimes literally i think and they come loose in their housing & the electrical switch underneath also stops working (not clicking). The plastic buttons I can deal with- glue normally sorts them but the switches themselves are on a little board attached to the top casing. This piece is what I really need to source, I dread to think what Toshiba would charge for this repair. Can anyone help? THX
  17. We have this issue with some Tosh Tecras, first one I've sent back to them, no other way I thought of sorting it, (£115+vat) to fix. How did you install the management software if you can access the device at all? Any help appreciated.
  18. We bought a batch (5) of cheap Infocus IN104s about a year ago and so far 2 of them have gone back with the classic DLP chip failure, white/black specs all over the image that increases with time. Can't fault their service though, no quibble 2 day replacement with new unit, better if we didn't have the hassle though. Also had the same issue with identical re-badged Acer units, don't think I'll be buying DLP again, nice they are filter less but don't seem reliable.
  19. THX for the info guys, Mark @ CPL contacted me & has given me some help regarding this. Now to put some info together to show the benefits of a big firmware/mesh network upgrade to the purse string holders!
  20. No we just found this out having not done any updates since install (2008) I've been quoted £500 for the director controller & £20 ea. per AP Is that a standard rate or are there cheaper deals around?
  21. Hi, I've had a board previously that did just that, pen spikes all over the place and a firmware update sorted it immediately. On the other had though just sorted a board today with the same symptoms & firmware made no difference or driver update or restarting it or reconnecting the usb .......in the end had to take it down and reconnected the power & usb cables from the electronics box on the back, hey presto works fine. Perhaps connection was loose or something (don't see how) but its a new one on me.
