I have had a look at my mate's computer and since he has put Win 7 RC on there (which he had from his MSDNAA account since he doing a degree course and the university signed all students up. He has installed Win 7 Ultimate RC on there and any DVD discs don't seem work, not just movies normally ones he created, and manufacture ones. but when he had XP and when he went back to downgrade the dvd drive read dvd discs agin but not in Windows 7 Ultimate RC. Is This a common problem? or firmware or driver? (it shows in device manager no problems) but when dvd disc goes in the computer hangs till he takes the disc out thanks in advance

I am wondering has this feature been removed i remembered with the old board that well when you put in the title that things been posted with similar title heading are shown, since you know then help you make an apporipate heading or it has been already covered. anyone care to share light on the issue?

Hi does anyone know of any vacancies or voluntary places in South Wales, I am willing to give myself a day a week to placement, and would like to see more welsh schools and welsh users here not many, I have to rely on public transport but currently learning to drive and will be finishing my first year of an HNC in End User Support, won't mind if with the LA in school or something else. The School network that I worked with while I was a Trainee IT Technician at the school as I could gather and it was vanilla and was part of the Local Authorities Forest, which covered the libraries, leisure centres and schools and council properties not sure what else, but they referred themselves as Baglan IT. Not sure what the situation in Swansea I think they are outsourced or in connection with Cardiff council IT but heard at one time they were connected to Baglan IT. Any one from Swansea can tell me situation if they remember and well any vacancies or any place willing to take a volunteer because I am willing to show my worth and learn new tips/techniques.

* Update - Viruses and mlaware/spyware been detected - now all removed with the help of the following software, anti-malware remover, spybot and mcaffe internet security 2010. restarted computer and more keep coming in Looks the floodgates are open, disabled network adpaters than all those clean again and flooding back in. so i think the only option i have got is a factory recovery disc. this is really puzzled me I have a laptop with Vista Home Premium SP2. Bios Detects Hard Drive - No Problem Windows Boots - No Problem "My Computer" Sees the two partations - No Problem "Device Manager & Disk Management" - Can't see the hard drive and the partations (they both can see the CD Drive) Any solutions other than a factory restore?

I was thinking of suggesting a new category in the "Links, Download and Scripts" section one for Portable Applications (Not U3 thou). wondering what people opuion on this. Since I find it rare to come across some and thought it be a good idea. I have got folder on my pc with at least 5 portable products that not including the "Admin bar" which i found pretty good". What are people opuions on this, nice to hear from the admin and mods on this.

hmm i know this might be a good topic but I thought schools connect to the JANET network, and well for school the ISP should be also keeping an eye on sites that should definite be blocked in schools since like illegal file sharing, yes i know it prevent companies such as websence making money but it a serious issue that should be dealt with because we know that isn't anything academic. I also assume every school has a Fixed IP-address, i know sites can go up and down loads of times but surely they can provide blacklist and then review because if a site is wrong it don't take 5min to say is this suitable or not. This is my opuion but it also cut down the illegal activities at home yes i know also ISP can lose customers if other ISPs do this but it cut down the illegal activites, im not here saying we should do the great firewall of china here and yes i know people will always attempt to find ways round it
