Hi all, I have a laptop with Microsoft Steadystate installed and I am wondering if it the cause of my low battery, i know from windows vista upwards you have a choice on power plans, but my battery is not lasting more than 30 minutes, so i was wondering has this software caused problems with the battery? since does the power optiones only affect the hardware in the windows envrioment or does it change on the hardware level? here's a screenshot from the software "BatteryInfoView" BatteryInfoView - View battery information on laptops / netbooks

new build PCs and Windows Licensing Purchase
chrisredfield93 replied to chazzy2501's topic in Licensing Questions
An upgrade of the motherboard is considered to result in a "new personal computer" to which Microsoft OEM operating system software cannot be transferred from another computer. If the motherboard is upgraded or replaced for reasons other than a defect, then a new computer has been created and the license of new operating system software is required. If the motherboard is replaced because it is defective, you do NOT need to acquire a new operating system license for the PC. If the motherboard is replaced because it is defective, you do NOT need to acquire a new operating system license for the PC. The replacement motherboard must be the same make/model or the same manufacturer's replacement/equivalent, as defined by that manufacturer's warranty. (Source) Does this mean that for my custom build computer and using an oem windows, that i can not upgrade the motherboard? or replace it if a onboard fault occurs? -
The French Ban SatNavs with Speed Camera Databases!
chrisredfield93 replied to m25man's topic in General Chat
IIRC i was told a while back they were going ditch speed cameras on the motoroway and dual carriage ways apprently the new method mentioned was that a camera takes a pic once and then another further on and then calculates between the two distances agaisnt the time to work out if you been speeding or not since they pointed out that people now taking notice where they are and slowing down before reaching them but speed camera databases should be allowed so that you can correct adjust your speed but not abused like -

chrisredfield93 replied to Dos_Box's topic in Windows
Not being funny but where is our service pack 4? Now that has been long overdue but it looks as I seen mentioned online that with every release they try to get one less such as 2000 sp4, xp sp3, vista sp2 and current 7 sp1 if right I dont have 7 I am a xp and office 2003 fan and hardware and drivers and software will still be produced if there still a market looks to me they dont care that much for us techs on design or maintaine since it all going mickey mouse with the layout and make it harder for us old school give us best of both like you done in xp -

My partner give me all their password and stuff but I never used it since it not my place or any of my business but she dont know my password I might leave my self login but that happens rarely

I have download an example of a program / souce code that was produced in vb 2008 (stated on website) off the internet, and when I open it up in VB2010 Express i get the following two options for converting, i was wondering if someone can explain the diffrences between the two.

is there somethign simmilar for ports and what connects to internet, i have also been shown filemon/regmon enterpirse edtion which is quite neat, wonder why sysinterals stoped this since this allowed remote monitering of other computers within networks, the new one they created im not impressed by it i rather seperate tools, but i have manage to find a site providing the source code for filemon and i think regmon but im not sure what used to create it or what version hope this will intrest some people

Has anyone used this? Chat ports list plus block chat sites - block Yahoo Chat and block AOL chat and is there any other software that does the same? as i can gather from the website it filters the application down to what is shown in the title bar

just my opuion hre wouldnt be better to turn an unused workstation to a server, and then house all the unused files on that clear the duplicates and then map the driveto your main server and then allow all them to have a shortcut to the file and only apply a script to copy it back in when it get accessed and then sorcut agian after few months of not acess this prob complex but with computer world ever involonmg sure this can be done
-
wont be easy one to apply to each group? aka teacher, staff, admin, IT Support and create a small image of a single colour such as prob 4 pixels by 4 pixels and tell it to tile across example green for staff red for IT support blue for pupils since it small it shouldnt take long to load and also have a fallback so u know if u see anyone with a colour matching the IT support you know they have admin rights when shouldnt just my two cents

am ir ght saying these are both domain forests?
-
Are domain forests common in school or not i rember when i was in school, there was an option to select a domain which was for other schools up and down within the local authority then i worked in a school later on and found they all connected by a dedicated fibre optic line, otherwise i guess any joe-bloggs or fred flintsone could join/hack the domain if conncect via phone line, since bussines do set people to work from home. After that while i working within on of the schools of the authority later on in life prob 4 years later i noticed that they still had the list but everyone logs in on one domain, but to my knowlege is that is there an sub active directory and it all copies it self to the master domain at the LA central. Am i right in saying that these are both domain forests? and are they common setups?
