Hi all, Contract on my Samsung Galaxy S3 is up and I'm looking to get something of a similar spec whilst reducing my monthly bill. I don't need anything particularly cutting edge as my phone usage has changed from being mainly for games and entertainment to being a business tool. It must be android and have an additional storage slot as I do like to keep some music on there and I take a lot of photos for rebuilds. I've been looking at the Motorola MotoG 4G which seems to fit the bill quite well, techradar like it: Moto G | TechRadar I was wondering what peoples thoughts were? Anyone got a MotoG 4G? Any good?

Being an academy we can't use the County waste sites, can anyone recommend a WEEE disposal firm that would puck up the kit and recycle it? We're based in Cornwall and would need the drives wiping. Turns out you can do a fresh install from a Windows 8 upgrade disk, you just need to rearm the activation clock one the install has completed. All up and running now, I'm never going back to a standard HDD for my OS

I got the ISO from MS and I have the original Win7 Lenovo disks so I'm doing a fresh install, Win7 with Lenovo drivers then upgrade to 8 using the ISO then go to 8.1 using Windows Store. My existing drive is pushing 200GB so probably best to do a fresh install and only install what I need. My laptop is used mainly for onsite support so I need speed over storage and I have a Microserver at home for personal stuff.

Now that 240GB SSD's are retailing under £100 I'm looking to buy one to put in my Lenovo laptop. Is there any disadvantage / performance issues to cloning my existing drive instead of doing a fresh install? Ideally I'd do a fresh install but the Lenovo was upgraded to Win 8 via redemption and I don't have a install disk.

COuld there be a conflict between DHCP and DNS then? I remoted in about an hour ago and had the same issue on my machine, a Network troubleshooting cycle produced the following error: Checked the DNS Server and the DNS Server Service was running fine, again a restart of the service and my client could get out to the internet fine. I can still connect to other computers and printers hostnames but I can get out on to the internet.

Scavenge stale records is ticked, 7 day no refresh interval and 7 day refresh interval. Zone can be scavenged after 30/04/2014.

I've recently set up DNS scavenging on our DC and I've got an odd issue where the DNS server stops working e.g. Users can't use the internet when the server is due for a scavenging cycle. The DNS server service stays running and a quick restart of the service makes everything fine again. Attached is a screenshot of the events over the last couple of months, all event ids 2 and 3 were invoked by me (after a user reports internet is not working) and the three 2501's in a row are due to the Easter holidays. Any help gratefully received.

Hi all, I'm having a bit of an odd issue with Office 2013 programs when they are minimised and then restored via clicking on the taskbar icon: Image 1: A normal Office window (Powerpoint but I have the same issue with other Office applications). Hi all! I've got an HP laserjet at a new site im supporting and it's deployed using a batxh script along with all the other printers in the school. However, everytime a user with that script logs on they get a prompt asking to install the drivers, even if they've logged on to that machine, installed the drivers abd restarted. How can I make the machine / user profile either A: remeber that the print driver is installed or B: install the driver silently (the batch script uses the /q switch but this doesnt seem to have an affect)

As per the title really, all staff have a redirected desktop that they only have Read, List Folder Contents and Read and Execute yet they can still save to the desktop. I have the same settings on my students and this works fine, users cannot save to desktop or delete icons. I've checked RSOP and I can't see the staff being members of any other groups that would give them access. Any help would be gratefully received, this hasn't been a problem before but we have a couple of new teachers that believe in saving everything to the desktop, despite being asked several times not to.

So do I need to change any DHCP settings? Currently my DHCP lease time is 8 days and my DNS settings within DHCP are in the pic attached. I'm thinking of keeping the lease time of 8 days and then setting the No Refresh Interval and Refresh to 4 days, does this sound like a good idea? What happens, say, during Christmas when the computers aren't used for 2 weeks? Will my Forward Lookup Zone be bare come January and is this a problem? Sorry for all the questions but I'm wary of anything DNS-related

Is scavenging correctly set on your DNS servers? I had a recent issue with a piece of software that was diagnosed as scavenging not being set on the Server/Domain/Forest by fellow edugeekers. Turns out scavenging was not set on either the Server or the Domain.

Looks like the scavenging is enabled on records but not on the zone or the server (See pics). I'm going to follow the instructions in the 'Don't be afraid of DNS scavenging' document, is there anything else I should be wary of? I'll do a system state backup before I start but I'm worried I'm going to remove records for our DC (Also the DHCP and DNS server).

Hi all, Whilst looking through a SOLUS 3 issue I've come across a a potential DNS issue. Looking through my A and PTR records I have lots of records for the same IP address. Lots of these records are for machines that we do not have anymore so I'm a little baffled as I'm sure when I set the network up DNS and DHCP were linked. Any ideas on how this can be resolved would be greatfully received, I'm not great with DNS so as dumbed down as possible...

Could you tell me what the DNS issue was? I'm having the exact same issue, SOLUS 3 not deploying to some agents with matt40k's diagnosis that I can ping COMPUTERNAME but I can't ping COMPUTERNAME.SCHOOL.LOCAL.

Hi all, I may be soon taking on another school and I'm looking for the best way to connect to that school remotley. I need to be able to remote desktop user's machines and the Domain Controller. Years ago I did this at my current school using a VPN but only using PPTP on the DC (I got told that having the DC as the VPN server was not the greatest idea in terms of security so stopped after a few weeks). Any advice would be great, I'm open to suggestions for VPN or using an online service such as LogMeIn etc
