Hi I think for a primary or small school it wouldn't be so bad. Remember you will have gaps of data to backfill from when you do data cuts to when it goes live. In a primary there might only be attendance and student record changes in the space of the week, in a secondary there will be behaviour attendance and anything you use the mis for to backfill..

Just putting my 10pence worth! I would avoid doing September if there was an alternative like October half term. It is certainly doable in September but just its just another layer on top of an already hectic week, especially if there are serious things that go wrong. There is also the issue of training that can't be done up to the point of migration. I have done 2 schools in September, 3 in October half term and 3 in February. October is by far the best, for a secondary there is no tt issues, no exams, first census has passed and you can do all the training up to the point of half term.

Agreed. But just taking one example. A teacher app could have and does have biometric/pin but what happens if the app is left logged on. I suppose it the same theory if someone left themselves logged on signed in with 2fa on a shared computer... Just the risk might be more.

Hello, could you engage a support partner (if you get 3rd party support from sims or another mis) to help. A lot of support partners do SIMS/Arbor and Bromcom and some might for a fee help with report extraction and populating Bromcom blank database... There role could only be something like explained above without taking any data from an MIS in a way which is classed as malpractice.

Hi, Is anyone else having issues with this? Clicking whole school doesn't display whole school for some users. Some users cant even get to that screen to get anything from this page and edit attendance. For the one user that can get on the page you can try and use groups (that doesn't display all the students in that group even ) to muddle through attendance.

Hi, I am intrigued into how many sperate reports really are need to export the data. Someone said 5000 reports...?!! Did anyone get or have any SIMS reports templates that can be shared for the bulk of export. I know udf's etc will be unique to the school.

All schools/trusts that have migrated talk about all the data cleansing and checks they do pre-migration and everyone has said they had spent a significant amount of time on it. I am struggling to find anything that can document what needs to be undertaken. It would also be useful to know any sims reports that need to be undertaken to prepare this data.- So effectively a checklist can be made. I started making a hybrid document from other MIS providers (that I understand would need Sims to be checked and cleansed before going to their MIS) together with suggestions from Bromcom.. Obviously we want clean data in our system but what have people found if these processes have not been carried out (not that I am saying we will do this),what would happen if you didn't do any routines on the data before it went to Bromcom? Any help would be appreciated.

Just digging up this post. I have read schools not retaining the data other than what they migrated with, surely this would be wrong. Or have I got the wrong end of the stick with guidelines and if you haven't got it you can't retain it.... So just checking for schools out there migrating away from SIMS did you run a series of reports to archive all you legacy data as per your retention policy. How many reports would you have to run to export all the data you would need?
