This'd typically be handled with your email archiver - We implement Barracuda Archiver for our Edu customers (other archivers are available😆) - you can set custom retention policies based on search criteria (contains PO number, payment details, is a specific user etc.) which overrides the standard retention policy. I imagine other vendors would have this feature too. If senior users struggle with this already, it's unlikely they'd start using a button reliably.

It really depends on the level of protection you're aiming for. If your priority is purely detecting PII within emails, then M365 DLP policies can do a solid job. But if your strategy also needs to cover human error - misaddressed emails, incorrect attachments, Cc/Bcc mistakes, and contextual encryption - then something more advanced, like Egress, is worth a look. Now they've been acquired by KnowBe4, the human risk management side has developed a lot - we've had great customer feedback on the integration (automated simulations/training assigned based on the types of phishing threats a user actually receives etc.).

The majority of web filtering solutions struggle to do well at both edu and corporate because of the difference in requirements (safeguarding, compliance etc.) We typically recommend WithSecure, Heimdal, or Barracuda WSG, depending on the customers budget and existing infrastructure. Some endpoint protection tools like WithSecure will include it as standard, cutting down on agent bloat. Other vendors are more modular, like Heimdal and Barracuda, so can be bought as a standalone solution.

Always worth checking the supported applications - they vary massively. Some will even offer support for custom apps (at a cost, of course) We typically implement Heimdal with our Edu customers mainly due to price (50%+ saving) and the fact they can roll out patches super fast.

Barracuda's CCB is usually one of the more cost effective options which makes it really popular with our customers. It's worth double checking with your supplier that you're getting an edu discount/free student licenses if they offer it.

Barracuda’s Total Email Protection is more of an all round package which includes the unlimited 365 backup and the cloud archiver - depending on your requirements it will always end up more cost effective than buying the solutions separately.

I've recently had something similar and I used Webflow as a site builder - in-depth GUI and community templates/resources which were great.

Whilst it would be resolving the audit recommendations, you'll have no visibility over when misdirected/bulk 'To' field mistakes occur unless you have another system in place. We typically recommend Egress Prevent (other solutions available) to our customers in Education, but it's obviously budget dependent.

Hi everyone! This is my first thread, so please move it if it's in the wrong area! I'm curious on the forum's expectations/experiences with their current MSP/VAR Account Manager's - are they too hands on? Would you prefer more contact? etc. As an Account Manager in the email security and data protection space (M365 primarily), I'm just keen to develop an idea of where improvements can be made, and hopefully help some other IT AM's too.

Definitely a great option given the unlimited storage and retention. As always, it's worth a comparison with a solution that charges per TB, but from feedback, we usually find its significantly more cost effective for the schools.

It's definitely worth comparing quotes for a per/TB solution and an per/user with unlimited storage with your suppliers. For cloud backup projects, we favour Barracuda's Cloud-to-Cloud as similarly to Backblaze, they charge per staff user with unlimited storage. Whether or not its more cost effective will depend on the ratio of data stored to user count though!

I can definitely recommend 'shopping around' for the licenses at the moment given the 9% upcoming price increase (possibly more if you were price-locked for a number of years) and your new supplier should be able to help minimize that.
