    WDS

Hi everyone I am trying to use the WDS on server 2008 and have done for around 100 of our computers with no problems the capture image worked great and was able to deploy without any difficulties, my question/problem i am having now is i have started to add in older machines Pentium III 1.0Ghz machines with 512mb all the same motherboards and hardware. I have installed windows set it the exact way i want the image to be enabled ACPI in the BIOS and sysprep the computer run capture in WDS and the image has been uploaded onto the WDS server as well as the workstation. Now when i go back and try to deploy that image to the same work station it is showing "There are no images available" These computers are not Multi core processors and the HAL is showing as UP now i have tried added into the sysprep.inf UpdateHAL=”ACPIAPIC_MP,%WINDIR%\Inf\Hal.inf UpdateHAL=”ACPIAPIC_UP,%WINDIR%\Inf\Hal.inf UpdateUPHAL=”ACPIAPIC_UP,%WINDIR%\Inf\Hal.inf Each of these being done and then when one didn’t work move onto the next and so on but every time i try to go into the deploy images it shows that there are no images available. I have logged onto the WDS server and double checked that the image was uploaded and it has been and the size of the image is similar to that of the other image for different workstations. Can anyone please help me with this problem as there are 80 machines to add onto the network and using WDS has been a great help with the first 100 machines i added. Any help would be much appreciated Aaron.

  6. Hoping that someone can help me with this problem. I have got the redirection of the start menu and it works a treat the pupils are redirected to the correct start menu that I want them to see and so far everything seems to be working fine. What I am wanting to know is that when I install software onto the workstations not all machines have the same software installed. Is it possible to hide program folders which are not installed so that the pupils do not just get the standard windows icon when the software is not installed on that station. Is there a policy that I can set to do this? Any help would be much appreciated
  7. hi everyone i am hoping that you can help me here, i have used what meastaugh1 said about changeing the gpo so that pupils dont get access to drives on my computer which has worked brilliant thank you very much although now if a pupil puts a memory stick in it has removed the my computer icon from the start menu and now pupils cant see there memory stick. is there anyway around this by using the gpo it has stopped that pupils are able to navigate to the c: by right clicking on the ALL PROGRAMS and opening explore or open which is brilliant but i would still like them to be able to see the my computer icon so that when a memory stick is inserted they have access to that.
