  1. On our Dell OptiPlex 3030 AIO, OptiPlex 3080 and OptiPlex 3040 when we plug in a 3.5mm microphone the Dell software audio pop-up does not happen. There is no programme for it in the task bar either. On about 3 PCs the pop-up is working and it lets us choose whether we have plugged in headphones, speakers or a microphone.
  2. Many thanks for your suggestions. >>Client PC spec? Dell Optiplex ranging from 745,755,380,760,780,7010 and 3040 Some have 2GB of RAM, most have 4GB,6GB or 8GB. All have SSDs >>Profile type? Roaming I think with everything redirected except for %APPDATA% >>Any logon scripts or installers? Is there a way to find a list of each? >>Wired or wireless? Wired >>new ou and users then try with no gpos then slowly add them back in? Will give this a go >>Have you got a basic windows 10 desktop with no customisations or third party management tools installed? Just Windows 10 Education with Sophos from LGFL.
  3. Is there a list of steps to diagnose slow logins on Windows 10? We're running Windows Server 2016 version 1607. Most of our PCs are on Windows 10 2004 or 1909. Some are still on 1903. When children log in it can take 7+ minutes to log in. ON the screen the last message either Preparing Windows or the name of the last GPO to be applied.
  4. TRUSTnet a not-for-profit educational charity owned London Grid for Learning Trust. I've been using their services for over twelve years.
  5. AD Sync will move all their files to a "deleted users" folder. Go to that folder and you will find loads of folders all named as the date they were removed. Inside you find folders for users who left on that date which will contain all their files.
  6. We fixed this by setting up Google Apps For Education and linking it to our USOs. We then altered the config in GAFE for YouTube so that only staff have complete access to the whole of YouTube. Staff now have to sign into Google to access these kind of videos though.
  7. Our server is Windows 2008 R2. All our current PCs are Windows 7 Pro. Our new tablets and perhaps new desktops will be Windows 10 Pro. Will they work on our network just like our Windows 7 PCs when I join them to the domain? Will everything be the same such as desktops and folder redirection? Will I need to import the Windows 10 ADMX files? Which policies will need setting if any?
  8. We're looking for a portable projector that will mainly be used by SLT in the HT's office for a weekly meeting. It may occasionally be used in our staff room as well. Any suggestions?
  9. Can you suggest a camera from a well known brand that can be used by teachers in their classroom that has Wi-FI so that photos can be directly uploaded to a specific folder. Or if much cheaper where can we buy new cameras that cost around 30-40 pounds?
  10. Some of our PCs keep loosing their connection to the server after a few minutes. The desktop goes blank and you cant even do Start cmd as cmd is not found! This has been happening for a few months now. We have 3 network cards on our Dell T101 server. The two Broadcom ones which have recently been teamed. The server has recently been moved to a building a 1000bit network with a fibre link to our old building. Nothing is using the Intel network card. Power Management is enabled. The Duplex setting is set to Disabled. Is this normal. Do network card settings have to be changed on the server you do you just leave them as all the defaults? On all client PCs(Windows 7 64 bit) Should any settings on those be changed such as Duplex or Ethernet Energy Efficiency? In there an easy way to restore all the card's setting by say removing the driver and reinstalling? Is it worth updating BIOSs and Network Card drivers on all the PCs.
  11. No we're using WPA with a shared key. The thing is we don't want Wi-FI we want them all back on the LAN. What causes "there are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request" Is there an event log to look out for?
  12. I didn't disable to Wi-Fi card but did switch it off in the Intel Wire Pro software. I clicked on the icon in the taskbar and selected Off.
  13. There are not getting an IP address when I log in locally when on the LAN. They ARE getting an IP address when I log in locally when on Wi-FI but NOT when I login with a domain based user. I need to check all that though as it's all been a bit weird! I was wondering if I should switch off all the network switches and reboot the server?
  14. We new have 3 Dell Optiplex 3030s All in ones with Windows 7. Our server is Windows 2008 R2. All 3 PCs have joined the domain. I set up all the PCs on the LAN. I then moved them to our new school office. I had to put all 3 PCs on Wi-FI as the wall ports were in an unreachable place. Two of the PCs worked fine but one said, "there are currently no logon servers available to process your logon request". Today the builders moved the wall ports to nearer the PCs. So now all there are on the network. Now the 2 ex Wi-FI pcs now say "there are currently no logon servers available to process your logon request" while the 1 pc that was not working now is! For now I've put the 2 ex Wi-FI PC back on to Wi-FI and they are still working. We really need all 3 on the LAN. Any ideas?
  15. We have a RISO 7050. We would like all staff to use their IC cards for printing. When children print their prints are just lost. Is there a way to change the username so that they use their class teachers's username instead when printing?
  16. A downloadable version of Scratch 2.0 is coming later this year. (Based on Adobe Air.) (Just spotted it now says end of August in the FAQ. Being able to set up classes and register students within them will is something they are working on.
  17. That's best book there is. I'm up to chapter 4. Have you tried Scratch? You can run your own mini Code Club too? Download all the resources from codeclubworld.org
  18. Are there any companies that can produce a new school website, update our logo and produce our new school brochure. We aware of primarysite.net and www.greenschoolsonline.co.uk Ideally though we'd like to host the website ourselves and use our existing Google calendar if at all possible or at least have a calendar that can be accessed on mobile phones.
  19. We've been doing a KoduClub after school with Y4-Y6. They love it. We've even bought 8 XBox contollors for Windows too.
  20. Our teachers use Handwriting for Windows
  21. The PC only has a DVI port. The monitor has both VGA and DVI ports. The projector only has VGA. When I use a DVI-DVI cable between the PC and the Monitor directly the display is on all the time.
  22. We have a classroom desktop PC with a DVI port going to a 2 port VGA splitter which is also connected to the whiteboard's projector. We cannot see anything on the screens until the Windows 7 logon screen is displayed. Sometimes there is a bios message like press F1 to continue(BIOS battery died ages ago.) or sometimes the Windows 7 Safe Start text screen appears. Is there anyway for us to see the PC's display at all times?
  23. bluetak didn't make any difference. Did try MSPaint and that works fine. Very confused now. Probably going to install the Notebook software now.
  24. >>If a pen is removed it switches to ink mode and the colour for that tray. Is there a way to switch that off? Remember we only have Promethean's boards(apart from this SMART one) so therefore we only use a pen... The pen works fine when on the desktop it's just that it starts drawing ink all over the screen when we use the pen with ActivInspire! We could use touch but we use the pen in maths and literacy. At the moment it's mainly being used with Y6 booster groups.
  25. That's interesting. We were only given 3 pens. One has always been missing. Could that explain what is happening?
