  1. You can add User Defined fields to any Panel now - they dont need to appear in Tab13 right at the bottom. When setting them up, they will appear in Student area but choose the "Basic Desatils" panel when setting up. I think you can "move" existing ones as well. They will, hovever, appear after the standard data in the Basic details area Tab1
  2. You can design a report in SIMS to output all the codes, eg for today, choosing AM only, and choose the default output for the report as Analysis. Gives a table like view of who might be off with which codes. Works quite well for a daily snapshot
  3. that service should show as "running" You could try re-adding the SA authorisation on the database shown in SOLUS3 - even change it, save it then change it back to the correct one. Has worked for us in the past I would try to get SIMS upgraded before attempting to upgrade SOLUS3.
  4. The Solus3 deployment service can be reinstalled manually when this happens. Extract the MSI from Solus3 interface and run it manually to get the service back. You should then be able to go onwards to version 3.12.59 Server 2016 by any chance?
  5. I might suggest you add the "extra?" INSET day via the School Diary. Much than editing the academic year once it is set up. It will deal with pupil attendance correctly. Neilenormal
  6. Easiest way - do it via the School Diary Delete the one on 4th and add one on 8th HTH
  7. The Student List reports are good here: you can just drag UDFs straight onto the report. There is even an Export button to get it straight to excel. HTH
  8. You can use the Discover Administration Utility to change the look of the attendance graphs. If you choose five percent intervals rather than one percent ones, and play with the number of bars, using say six only, you then go back in to Discover and find that the percentage sesion attendance graph looks a bit different and has a last column of "less than x%". Drag this single bar onto the create new group button, and save it as a Dynamic group, so that you can click the little flag symbol to be notified of students joining and leaving this group. The home page in Sims.net then will alert you with a message in "my messages". Instant notification that little johnny has dropped below x%attendance, or little billy just got out of the group following some intervention perhaps. Whilst Discover has lost a bit over time it is still good for the pastoral stuff. HTH
  9. ??could you add an additional column into Excel after the date one that comes from sims, then use a use a formula such as =datevalue(cell to left) Then format it as a date, but as a datevelue you can calculate terms etc. Useful when you want to calculate "term of birth" from sims into excel
  10. looks like @Linfit was on the money to me.... "Is the Census folder set correctly and do you have Write permissions on it ? " it sounds from what you say that it is trying to create the xml file but cant due to permissions. Try deliberately changing the Census folder location to somewhere else as a test?
  11. Sorry - misunderstood the Q What about Tools, Lookups, Maintain and edit "Behaviour Status" This is the likes of "resolved" "Unresolved" "refer to Year head" etc?
  12. in SIMS Tools.... Lookups... Maintain type beh in the box and search edit the Behaviour - Action Taken to add more or edit the ones you need HTH
  13. as @round2it said - Don't do it The image will have a GUID still linked to the old agent, and causes all sorts of problems - remove solus3 agent before making an image is good advice
  14. @SimonCygnetIT Good answer!!
  15. I think the KB needs just a bit extra information. As far as I am aware Solus3 does not maintain the setups folder any more - therefore, possibly as you experienced, you run SIMSCentralServerSetup.exe (which is an older version) and nothing updates. I would prefer it to say you need to "extract" the file server element of the Autumn15 upgrade (or the latest one!) from the Solus3 UI (to a folder of your choice or the setups folder) and THEN run SIMSCentralServerSetup.exe to the location that is correct e.g. s:\sims (which should also be in your workstation's sims.ini file) HTH
