teddybear replied to russdev's topic in General Chat
What is it you need done? The big man works part time as the Janitor in one of my primary schools, I could nip round and record him saying a few words. I'm sure he;d be more than happy to do it :-) -
Isn't the FOI just for public authorities?

Can you Repair Promoethean Activ Boards?
teddybear replied to farquea's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
We've got loads of boards, I work for a local council so deal with around 36 different schools. The most common problem we get is the board spiking which can somethimes be fixed by upgrading the firmware on the board itself. If that doesn't work it's generally the logic board and as 'ICT Guy' says, it takes 5 minutes to fix. Had a quick look on ebay which has a supposidly working board in Nottingham for 'buy it now' of £120. (PROMETHEAN ACTIVPRIMARY WHITEBOARD (PURPLE SURROUND) on eBay (end time 30-Nov-09 12:55:28 GMT)) -

EduGeek.net Returns to BETT Show
teddybear replied to russdev's topic in General EduGeek News/Announcements
I'm gutted... was told last week there's no money in the budget to send us this year :-( Still have my edugeek cap, use it when playing golf... a sad day :-( -
A school secretary mentioned that she wanted to buy a Dell for her sons Christmas, I mentioned Simon to her and that I'd pass on her details I e-mailed Simon, very quickly a reply came back saying Hi etc and wanted a few more details. I passed on the secretaries details and he's taken it from there. Had no problems whatsoever from Simon, always fast replying here (even for a single item) and would deifnately deal with again. It says something that Simon is replying in this post, he could very easily have ignored it all.

:-) Brilliant, made me laugh!!! Mrs Teddybear is wondering what I'm watching. The part where the guy and Natalie Imbruglia (however it's spelt) do the moves together it priceless.
-
Congratulations :-) Now the fun begins... When he's better, take him for a walk in a local shopping centre on your own and see how many ladies flock over to you to 'coo' over him
-
excellent, will give that a try at work tomorrow.

Off until next week here. Being able to have my door open today with no interruptions was heaven :-) Got so much done, brilliant!!

We're probably 95% promethean and the other smart boards. I've never been called to a problem with the smart boards, they just work! Promethean on the otherhand.....

Yeah, lol, it's hitching a ride...

I wish this was announced back in June. I'd have waited as I was with Orange, got good service from them and the O2 signal in a few schools isn't great where is was better with Orange.

Quick, take a copy of the avatar to make it look right!

After watching it, it shows that he didn't actually do much to get the numbers..... It was 24 random people closing their eyes and writing down random numbers. Their supposed collective thoughts gave them the numbers to write. The numbers were then added up to get an average. So, technically, Derren Brown didn't get the numbers, the 24 other folk did. One final thought, if I was one of the 24 people I'd be meeting up with the others each week to get more numbers!

This just proves that we have become too dependent on our computers. Are you male or female? To find out the answer, look down... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Look down, not scroll down silly !

:-) Works because Inspire puts v5 of the driver on
-
Install version 5 of the driver (via a custom install of ActivInspire) and it will work. You do need to download the whole ActivInspire software (roughly 250mb) but the custom install works just fine. You definitely do not need to use ActivInspire, it will work with ActivePrimary and ActiveStudio. We are not ready to roll out ActivInspire to 30+ schools so just installing the driver is fine. I spent an afternoon trying to find this out, total nightmare as the company installing the boards didn't have a clue, they were totally useless!! They've left one board not working, left us contacting Promethean to get it sorted when they should have done any fix it required.
