  1. We’ve had issues getting Lenovo Chromebooks to work nicely with their docks, I can’t remember what it was but it related to the desk screen l
  2. We managed to get all of our reports out yesterday, we've gone back to the Sims 7 DMS temporarily.
  3. Morning all, Is anyone having issues generating profiles/reports? our school and others in the trust are experiencing issues generating reports due to a document management server bug in the latest version of sims it seems, our data manager is unable to change templates via session management and is unable to process the reports with existing templates. Not sure whether we're just generating reports earlier than everyone else? we're on 7.230 via Connected
  4. Have been using wetradetech for a few years, the cage sits in a stairway with a cover over it, we fill it and they collect. Ours tend to be a mixture of working and scrap - last time there was a box of ~30 cracked Chromebook screens, they’ve never complained about what we’ve sent and always send a detailed asset report shortly afterwards James
  5. It really depends on what you want from an asset system, if you want the bare bones - serial, model, purchase date, who its assigned to then an excel sheet is probably all you need, systems come in handy when you want to track history of assignment, warrantee's, repairs, financial details down to order ref, invoices etc SnipeIT works really well, its used across the trust here
  6. Not sure if its changed but setting up parents in tapestry has always been a bit of a long winded process as you have to import pupils and parents separately then manually match them up, I've seen them claim its safer this way but when its techs doing the matching rather than staff that actually know the parents and children its far from it
  7. We're also with DataJar, fortunately 11 of our music Macs are still on V11 so we've paused updates. They've said as its a store app they're unable to roll back Many of the solutions mentioned online seem to revolve around logging in with the apple ID used to purchase but as we're using VPP/device based licensing none of those solutions are going to work for us, I assume most other schools are in the same position
  8. I don’t recall receiving a discount for being an education institution, in my experience education and charity discounts are very similar - tried my luck working for an independent school registered as a charity and didn’t get any further/less discount trying the charity route
  9. At a previous place we migrated to engage mis who also recommended dual contacts, I ended up re-importing during migration to go back to singles, external systems such as socs and others didn’t handle dual’s well
  10. We have 3 year warrantee's on most of our chromebooks although a significant amount of issues are damage rather than warrantee claimable - we replace screens ourselves and source from Ali Express(£66 ea vs £170! from lenovo) We generally have 10-20 spares, we keep 10 loan units incase they're left at home or need charging We've recently gone 1:1 We issue chromebooks to Y3-11, Y3-6 devices stay in school. We replace devices every 4 years We've don this for 2 reasons, 1 - Year 6 pupil needing one at home for SEN purposes, another where a pupil had an injury and needed to keep her bag weight down on the way to/from school.
  11. AB Tutor is able to do this, in the coming months google is bringing out their own tool although it will require both student and teacher device to be chromeos based. James
  12. Morning all, Our head of DT is insisting upon keeping their whiteboard and projector setups across the department rather than switching to interactive screens as they don't like the delay between drawing a line and having it show up on the screen, they like to draw fairly technical drawings over projected images. What tech do you guys put into your DT rooms? They're teaching KS3 through to A Level. I'm wondering whether there are any interactive screens that are more sensitive than others or potentially a drawing tablet James
  13. Oooh interesting! moved my previous school to Engage and loved it (the MIS, not the migration process!) I would have thought education horizons was far more internationally focused than Tes with most of their workforce based in Austrailia, with Tes behind them they may become a serious contender
  14. At a previous school I looked into it all and couldn't figure out a way ahead and ended up going for Engage MIS instead, Arbor would have been a good fit if it hadn't been for those pesky fee bills! Its a shame there's no external bolt-on or standalone system that'd handle them, current school/trust are using Sims Independent fairly successfully with a few extra bolt-ons
  15. I found ITIL foundation to be really useful and recently completed ITIL DPI(Direct, Plan, Improve), hoping to do another exam to gain ITIL Strategic Leader. I used Dion Training for both courses, the content was engaging and very clear. Not sure whether to go down the Prince route at some point. James
