Techcare Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Good morning all. I wonder if anybody can recommend a Ruckus wireless partner in the Mids / Staffs area. I have read a lot on here about ruckus and there seems to be some great feedback in general - one of the schools we support is looking to replace their existing wireless installation with a managed solution. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Karl
alan-d Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 CP Ltd and Net-Support both supply Ruckus Kit. 2
ess2k Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 We Used Network IT 24, they are based in the West Midlands. Were really helpful and quick at providing a survey and demo that just worked! Their price was very good too, certainly kept the finance manager happy! 1

One of the schools im currently managing is looking to go with a wireless system but im unsure who go with if you could answer the few questions below it would be a great help. What type of Wireless Setup did you go with? How many AP's? How many Controllers? What was the rough cost of it also? 1
timbo343 Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Also try netctrl @Aggy she will be able to give you a quote. We talked to a conpany called AMC computer supplies as the are a big dog too, or the company they use are anyway. I trailed some ruckus kit, did my own site survey measuring down to -70db then looking at the density in the areas where the APs are going. Each and every building is different. E have metal and plaster board walls and was surprised how far the signal from the 7363 APs travelled. Breeze block was a bit more of a problem but nothing really to worry about. Ruckus have got some amazing offers on until the end if dec. Again speak to the top dogs @Aggy at netctrl or @CPLTD. We are just about to buy 2x ruckus ZD 1112 with 6 APs for now then expand on it at a later date. Have a look for the toms hardware report, why does your wifi suck. Its a 2 part report but very very interesting. Here is the online version part 1 Tom's Hardware US And part 2 Tom's Hardware US Have a look on here for the pdfs of the reports Ruckus Wireless 3

What type of Wireless Setup did you go with? How many AP's? How many Controllers? What was the rough cost of it also? We went for the Ruckus Wireless education bundle 1x Controller (Zone Director 3000) 25x 7982 Access Point's (450mbps 3x3x3) We got a 5 year warranty aswell included with this offer! It cost us around £12k excluding the PoE switches. Amazing value for what we got, we still have a few Ap's spare too, as we didnt have anywhere else to install them. The wifi is amazing! we had Netgear before which was ok when we only had 15 laptops. But now we have netbook trolleys upstairs and downstairs and more laptops. We also had a look at Meru but was too expensive in comparison for the same thing and heard a few bad reviews from neighbouring schools. So went for Ruckus! No Looking back! The guys who installed it from Network IT 24 were great, they even gave us a courtesy call recently to check if we were happy! Obviously I am as the wifi works and the staff are not doing my head in!
