Jack PC thin client?

Has anyone heard of these? I came across this website by accident. Apparently used by Hereford Sixth form College, installed after visiting BETT in 2007. I am guessing they didnt revolutionise the world of IT as no one on Edugeek has talked about them.

Not seen them before but they seem interesting and worth a look at to save space!

Yes we have a few.

THey are ok, definitely look neat.

Some of the problems we encountered are: trunking size seems to be an odd (perhaps US standard) and needed to be 'encouraged' into the trunking.

Occasionally seem to loose settings.

Very expensive for a thin client (£300ea IIRC)

Run quite warm in the trunking (no big deal)

THey charge extra for management software (we only have a few and don't use it)

We looked at them a few years ago, and whilst they look good and are low power etc... they really were pushing their management software more than the devices themselves.

 

Also, they needed 'extra deep' back boxes in our experience, so we would've had to retrofit the room with new trunking to handle them. So we ended up with HP thin clients instead.

 

Might be worth also looking at the HP t410 AIO 'Zero Client' machines. They are PoE and entirely in the screen.

Played with a Jack for a while, neat soloution for low power/space terminal but performance is limited compared to other terminals.

Something that comes to mind, if you need to move where the the desk is positioned it won't be as straight forward than it would a standard thin client.

Take a look at Igel thin clients. They are fairly good and easily managed.

I've had some "interesting" experiences with them, but not to be said on a public forum. However, the support chaps re top guys and very helpful.
