Raspberry Pi Ideas?

I'm scrabbling around looking for a good group project to form the basis of an after class technology club for 6th formers.

I come from the generation that enjoyed learning to code in basic on a BBC micro and think maybe a Raspberry Pi might recreate

such inspiration. Anyone got any experience of such a project?

we are at a similar stage we have currently bought a Raspberry Pi and the head of computer studies is currently working on what he can do and if we plan to by a set of 10 of them to rule out a similar group - will keep you posted on where we go!

I would strongly suggest you have a look at the work that the Computers @ School group (C@S) are doing in this area ... well worth the effort.

 

I am also looking forward to some write-ups of the stuff that went on at BETT on the Learning Together stand where they did a fair bit of coding.

I've got a idea in my mind developing around the idea of swarm intelligence - independent Ras-Pi robots interacting with each other. Though far too complex to take on as a whole, it seems to give a number of interesting component projects; robot control, sensing, programming, swarm mathmatics etc. Certainly enough to feed the imagination.
