Storage areas of opendirectory profiles

Hi All,

 

Can anyone tell me if i have created a logon in the workgroup manager that is linked only within the macosx network that when that username is used across any mac we have on site where their files are saved to and if on the server where as i cant find anything at all on this.

It depends on how you have setup home folders with work group manager. Have you created a share on the mac server and enabled auto mounting for home drives? I would take a guess and say your users were creating home drives locally.

Cheers for the reply, i never allocated a home directory just created it as a new user in the Workgroup manager, so am i to assume then that by default any work created with that username logged in will reside on that local machine and not be transferable to other machines

If you haven't set it up to use server based user directories, all profiles will be stored in the /Users/ folder in the boot HD (Macintosh HD)
