rpanchal Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Hi All, I am having issues binding an imac to my AD, I keep getting invalid username & password when its trying to authenticate to the AD, any ideas? The credentials are correct as I have joined windows machines with the same account..
nawbus Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 From trying to do something similar with a Mac server, I found that it's to do with our firewall. The Mac (for reasons best known to Apple) has to contact Apple's servers which then try to contact to contact your AD Server. Apparently, our LEA block the incoming port used by Apple to authenticate against AD. They tell me when the port is unblocked (don't know which though - sorry) it will work. Haven't done it yet though
ben604 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Check the time on the mac, force it to sync with your DC.
sted Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Check the time on the mac, force it to sync with your DC. yup ive found even a few seconds clock diff can really screw up a mac connecting to ad
scorcher89 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Also there was one version of 10.7 I believe that would have major issues binding to AD, so make sure you all up to date!
Rozzer Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Have you tried doing it with Directory utility or within the system preferences user section. I would first ensure that the account your are binding the machine with has the correct delegate rights or atleast a domain admin for testing. Maybe worth doing it via terminal. dcconfigad is your friend Also as people have mentioned above could be time out of sync. Ross
TheScarfedOne Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Pointing at difference in time here. Had very similar issues. More than 3mins out made it fail all over the place.
