Hi All,

We currently run Ranger from a vanilla system it closed the annoying loopholes students found and made a lot of the day to day fire fighting stress disappear. Having looked into Impero we were very impressed as we are using Ranger remote control, Policycentral, PCounter and of course to keep uptodate with them is very expensive the only thing it appears to be missing is the tool to lock down pupil workstations and loopholes on the network? Would I still need to do this in AD and what should I be looking to use to create users easily with mailboxes?

Hi grahamd22

Yes, you're going to need to use group policy to lock the machines down, since Impero doesn't tend to replicate things which can be done via group policy. Impero will run quite happily side by side with Ranger and all the other software you mentioned, so you could run them together and phase Ranger out gradually. Impero does have a bulk user creation tool you can request (not sure about mailbox creation), or you could use something like AD Infinitum.

Looks like we will move toward GPO's (mandatory profile) although its going to take sometime to get them just right, just playing around with them but need a lot of tweaks for the registry ! I noticed Impero do a bulk creation tool but no exchange or mass deletion of profile, home drive and mailbox :(. Do you have any further info on AD Infinitum?
