Sam_Brown Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 (edited) Trying to Smart Client a brand new out of the box Windows 7 Professional Laptop (have removed most of the crap that came pre-installed like McAffee \ Norton etc). Copy Smart Client to the Laptop and run it as administration. Stick in CC4 server, domain details. Everything goes well, it resets and then I get an error message telling me it can't continue because I'm not logged on as an Administratior! I log on as domain\systemadmin and I get the same error. I log on as local administrator which I've also renamed to systemadmin and no luck! Both have full admin rights over the laptop and obviously the domain\systemadmin account is a domain administrator. When I reset it and it finally allows me to log on properly I find it's joined the domain perfectly fine and I can log on with domain accounts however apart from that no other changes. Any ideas? Is this a common issue? I'm tempted to just rebuild from scratch using CC4 but wanted to try and avoid having to source out all the drivers one by one to allow me to do so. jamesfed Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I might be wrong but I thought RM didn't support 64bit yet (I try to keep up to date on CC4 developments but haven't been near a CC$ network in years so wouldn't know for sure!).
clareq Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 They say they are releasing 64bit in time for February half term.

Sam_Brown Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 No 64 Bit support? What the actual ****? It's 2013 for god sake!
Danp Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 The official build image is due in Feb'ish I have heard of reports that smart clienting still works. Have you disabled UAC?
Sylv3r Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 We have been fieldtrialling the 64bit image and it is due out for release by next half term holidays I believe.
ajs Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 As everybody else has stated, the 64bit build image is due for release soon. As far as I'm aware (and this was the case with with Win7SP1 image), smartclienting a 64bit station will require the 64bit build image on the server as that will update/install components required for the station to interact properly. If you really need it working soon then rebuilding as a 32bit station would be the only way I can think of.
jamesfed Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 How on earth did RM take 3 years to do this!?!
