SBennett Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Hello! I was just wondering if anyone knew what the specs of the server that is used to host the website. As far as I can tell (and I use this website a lot) it is always quick to respond, and the fact that it sends email notifications about subscriptions, etc, it must be quite beastly! Sam
featured_spectre Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Quite...try more along the lines of a cluster of servers
SBennett Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 I suspected Anyone have some more in depth info?
Domino Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I know we're hosted on a cluster out of a German datacentre, and that @ZeroHour is always messing with various CDNs to ensure we get better performance. he's the man with the plan
Domino Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Also, it's the week before BETT - I wouldn't hold your breath for a quick response...
SBennett Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 Also, it's the week before BETT - I wouldn't hold your breath for a quick response... That's quite alright. I'm in no rush. Just wondering
GrumbleDook Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 @Domino ... shhhh ... don't tell him the secret! No-one must know that the cluster has been expanded from just @Geoff to include @localzuk and @FN-GM oh ... oops
ZeroHour Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 (edited) I am pretty much the only one with deep info I have been working on an article (registered users only probably) outlining what we run roughly. Needless to say its not a sole server and the setup has been tweaked quite hard to get max performance. We do have the odd outage but its generally me working on the servers at night and very brief. The setup is always being changed though. Edited January 24, 2013 by ZeroHour
HaleStorm Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I always though @ZeroHour was just a magic ninja and the website was crafted one night from rocks and he turned it into something wonderful

john Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I always though @ZeroHour was just a magic ninja and the website was crafted one night from rocks and he turned it into something wonderful Sounds about right, if you come to BETT you might even see a nice little glimpse of him
featured_spectre Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I saw ZeroHour once...he literally then went off home during BETT...must have been something I said.
