Hi All

So our school has started buying Ipods (of course they don't tell the IT department they are) so i have been left with the job of sorting them out, you know updating, app, pic and all the other stuff that comes with it.

So far I have got 2 ipod touch wirelessy synced to one Apple ID and to Itunes on Windows XP (No cables). This is great I can just pick which Ipod I want to send an app to and click sync and away it goes. The problem is, is that you can only send an app to one Ipod at a time.

Is there a way to send an app to all of them at the same time?

Thank

I will keep looking!

Might be your firewall. Check the following are open-

The IP address that Meraki use which will need to be opened up through the firewall are 64.62.142.0/24, 64.156.192.0/24, 74.50.51.0/24, 74.50.52.0/24, 74.50.53.0/24, 74.50.54.0/24, 74.50.56.0/24, 74.50.58.0/24, 74.50.62.0/24, 74.50.63.0/24, 213.229.98.133/32 and 213.229.98.133/32. The TCP Ports are HTTP (80), HTTPS (443), 7734, 7752, 2195, 2196, 5223 and 5228. The UDP Ports are 7351, 9350, 1812, 1645 ans 123.

if this is the case i have no chance.

I still fine it odd tho that my Andriod device works and it is connected to the same WiFi as the apple. Also the laptops dont enroll aswell.

So i gave up. Now I am using the iPhone Configurator. Works well to be fair; just one problem tho I can’t restrict the kid from putting a passcode on the device and locking it.

Any ideas??

If you have a Mac, you might have better luck with the Apple Configurator app. We're just about to start using it. I believe it supersedes the iPhone Configurator so have more functionality.

Hi

I read that it is great on a Mac but we dont have a Mac with a compatible OS X to run it on. Think we need to invest some money into our IT!Ha

Apple configurator has a major problem with it.

To put on paid apps and use your VPP licensing you have to put them into supervised mode. If you put them into supervised mode you can't access the internal storage, so no photos and no videos......seems a bit stupid really.

Yeah, this is a major downside and Apple haven't thought it through very well. We're thinking FileBrowser or Dropbox might the best workaround but obviously have their own downsides too.

So no use of the inbuilt camera in supervised mode? That seems crazy, can anyone confirm?

You can use the camera to capture photos and videos but you're not able to connect via USB to any computer, other than the Mac with Configurator installed on it.
